After some analysis, i noticed that this smooth move happened because he refused to make the knight jump, and instead of the "L" trajectory, he went for the cursed "1 diagonal + 1 forward " trajectory.
Yeah I guess you can move it just as smoothly if instead of the c pawn you move your b pawn, the knight would then go b8-b7-c6 (like here it went b8-c7-c6)
@@MatsMatsuo Thank you for this insight. Although knights are fully capable jumpers, it is far less strenuous on their bones to maintain contact with the ground.
Eric, the pseudo-live commentary is a great idea. I personally gained more by experiencing the game in the same timing that you did and noticing where our ideas diverged. Like the knight back move where you activated your queen and bishop 👌
Really like the format. When the opponent is a friend, would be cool to hear their thought process as a voice-over too, if you can convince them to do it
That was great content, Mr. Rosen. When your time allows, please do more of these. My too favorite types of content you do are the analysis of your over-the-board games and Titled Tuesday. In a close third are any tournaments with fast time controls.
Wow, this is by far the best Chess content I have seen this year. I subscribed you immediately. I often enjoy your videos that got in my feed, but this one is pure gold. It's teaching, it's calm, it's pure fun to watch. Pls keep it up !!! Greetings from Germany
Absolutely loved this format! It's like watching a game with a professional commentator, but the commentator is actually one of the players so you can provide a lot more insight into your specific thoughts. And in contrast to the normal commentary you do while streaming (which I also like a lot of course!), here you have the benefit of not having to talk while you're playing so the commentary doesn't distract you from the game or vice versa! I also generally really like the atmosphere of OTB games! Would love to see more of this type of content!
I loved this format! Hope to see more like it. I think it was cool knowing you had picked this game as one worth sharing - it made me just that much more invested
I really enjoyed the video, having that internal dialogue is very nice and insightful as for why certain moved are done, and I feel like having the tempo be on par with the video is a nice addition. I'd be up for more content like this one
Hi eric. I havent commented here in a long time. At one time I was probably your top sub from Canada. Anyway, My favorite video all time in chess in your game with Shirov. You and he in Latvia. Incredible.. They are great. I vote yes, more like this and from far away locals would be a bonus.
Very helpful to know what you’re thinking as an IM. This demo allows me to gauge where I’m at with board vision, assessment, tactics, and so on. Thanks!
I enjoy this kind of recap! Nice commentary while watching you play at the board is really entertaining. Also not focusing on the eval bar you get to feel the position way more.
This form of chess video is a great way to learn. Hearing your thought-process spoken out, in a game you actually played. Much different than analysis compared to a chess-engine. Thank you. 👍🙏
this video has two of the most respectful and generous streamers amongst the chess community…definitely we would love to see more of this content and Eric, just to let you know..at this point anything “literally “ you post will be welcomed 😊 thank you sir for years of amazing content!
Very instructive. What would be even more interesting would be if your opponent shared his/her thoughts as well, in a “Master Game”-type production . . . and perhaps a little post-match analysis too (eg on why Qe3 - after Kostya’s fxe4 - would have been so good)?
I've been watching your videos for over a year now. I haven't commented before but I have now because I really enjoyed the video and would love to see more. Extremely helpful.
Great video format, I'd love to see more like this, where you can focus 100% on the game during the game and the commentary while doing the commentary. And I know it isn't what you're asking, but I totally clicked on the video because I saw you were playing Kostya in the thumbnail, more games with him (or other online personalities irl) would be great.
love the new video format explaining what's going through your mind during the game, but it will be even better if you follow up immediately with a game analysis and see where both sides could do better.
Hi Eric, I found this video really instructive and also quite entertaining. More please! I really appreciate all the time and effort you put into all of your VODs. Thank you 👍🏻
I realize your attention can be divided between 'doing the stream' and 'doing the content' when you're live on Twitch. I think this format might be less of a distraction for you, and your games be even stronger. I love the voice over commentary and would enjoy similar content in the future.
At 6:25 I truthfully said to myself, is the move Ke7 a poor rookie move. Then you played that exact move. Who knew that watching your videos would teach me to pay attention to the whole board. I like this format, it compliments your established format. Thanks for sharing.
Great concept, great video. I'd love to see a follow-up video on "how to analyse a game" using this game as an example. Then we would have both your at-the-time thoughts and see what was missed over the board and could be done better next time (by us mere mortals).
I absolutely LOVE this new format. My voice is probably lost to the void, but whatever. I was actually really expecting you to do analysis, which would be a cool addition. I know you're probably worried about the length though.
I think you could use the present tense to become even more immersive. So something like: “I wonder if he’s going to take this pawn. Oh… he does take it.”
Great format! Your ideas and plans _in the moment_ are helpful in a different way than post mortem engine analysis. Great to know your tell - frequent blinking ;-) mhua-ha-ha!
Awesome video! Would have been really cool to see you share some of the lines you were calculating on an analysis board the way you would in a tournament recap video, either to explain alternatives on a few key moves or at the end after you've had time to analyze
Most rapid games end up bullet and then intuition matters much more than calculations. So in middle game saving time is often better than finding the best move.
hi eric. lovely video format. i think it would be nice if - for the critical moves where you think a bit longer - you would explain a bit more why certain candidate moves do or do not work, tactically or positionally. even if it's just one sentence!
Great video! A fantastic idea. Could you please include the valuation bar? And after the match could you please show us the top/winning moves recommended by the engine? Why was Qe3 winning for example at 8:45? Thank you Eric!
At 13:40, there’s a very interesting alternative to Qd3 and that is Rxf4! Sacrificing the exchange and then taking on d6 and white is still winning. Of course, Eric’s move is basically top engine move. Rxf4 is cooler though.
i would love to see more videos like these, they are peaceful and educational to learn awesome eric!
So true!
Totally agree!
Yep. Great video.
YES! Love the format Eric!
in my 6 years of playing I've never seen someone slide a knight from b8 to c6 so smoothly
That was smooth as butter
After some analysis, i noticed that this smooth move happened because he refused to make the knight jump, and instead of the "L" trajectory, he went for the cursed "1 diagonal + 1 forward " trajectory.

@@MatsMatsuo Thank you for this insight. Although knights are fully capable jumpers, it is far less strenuous on their bones to maintain contact with the ground.
Background is gross
Love this idea more in the future please

Much better format than showing lines that are imaginary and only confuse
Love the irl content

This was awesome! Bc8 was *such* a nice find, especially in a time scramble
Love this format! Hopefully see more of this for otb games.
I loved this format! Hope to see more like it. I think it was cool knowing you had picked this game as one worth sharing - it made me just that much more invested
Great content idea def would enjoy more Rosen otb games in this kinda set up
Loved the video!!! Can’t wait to see more in this format!
I like this. It gives me a better overview of why you made certain moves and I personally feel like I can learn from that
I just caught myself to like the video twice. I very much love the simplicity and the educational value. Thank you!
Love the commentary! I would love to see more "I considered N candidate moves, and here's why I chose X (or discarded Y)".
Absolutely loved the self analysis of the game. It was easy to follow and fun to watch!
we need more videos like this
Great stuff! I'd love to see more of this
I really enjoyed the video, having that internal dialogue is very nice and insightful as for why certain moved are done, and I feel like having the tempo be on par with the video is a nice addition.
I'd be up for more content like this one
More of this please Mr. Rosen!!
Incredibly instructive video, I would love to watch more
Extremely well produced and engaging. Bravo, Eric 💚. Would obviously love to see more of this style of videos.
What goes through my mind is, "Ah, dang it, they saw my plan, dog gone it"
For sure Eric. More videos explaining your thought processes for each move would be most appreciative. Thanks in advance.
Loved the format.
Got the full on play by play analisis. Really helps to understand the thinking
i like this format. please describe more your plans in this videos. i mean deep analyse.
This is awesome! More of these would be cool. But anything you put out is tremendously helpful. Thanks again Eric!
Great content as always eric
Really like this format and what an exciting game! Congratulations 🎉
I love the format! A good way to prepare for the final form: you playing yourself and commentating at the same time.
Thank you for the video Eric, it's awesome! I was watching it like a good film, fully immersed into it. Would love to see more such videos.

eric i swear you are the most comfortable chess content maker to me, you are so kind and smart i can't stand
Great video. Your recaps of OTB games are always fantastic.
That was a great way to watch a game. The time control didn’t leave much dead time, but gave you time to explain things.
This form of chess video is a great way to learn. Hearing your thought-process spoken out, in a game you actually played. Much different than analysis compared to a chess-engine. Thank you. 👍🙏

would absolutely love to see more of this!
Great game! Love the commentary and thought process. Very fun and informative
I've been watching your videos for over a year now. I haven't commented before but I have now because I really enjoyed the video and would love to see more. Extremely helpful.
This was cool, usually irl videos are unwatchable with only commentary or only a board, having your post-hoc explanations made it quite engaging
Always loved this kind of content from all creators, more pls, eric!
When these 2 play we are all winners. Amazing. I reall y liked this video. Hearing your ideas and seeing the lines was cool.
This seems like a very fun format of video to watch, I enjoyed this one. Please do make more!
It's a very unique type of commentary when the commentator is inside the brain of one of the players!
I really love this concept, I haven't seen anything like it yet and I watch quite a few channels. Please do this more!
I love this format I hope to see more of it, thank you ❤

Great! I found the move Bc8 really brilliant and instructive, I never considered using a piece as a "shield" to deliver mate. Thank you for the lesson
love the new video format explaining what's going through your mind during the game, but it will be even better if you follow up immediately with a game analysis and see where both sides could do better.
This is some of my favorite chess content
Yes please! More! Very much enjoyed this format! 🎉🎉🎉
Love these psuedo Danya videos where you explain move by move
The f1 bishop reaching all the way to c8 is a poetic finish!
what goes through my mind when playing a serious classical game of chess: hmm i wonder what i should eat for lunch
Hi Eric, I found this video really instructive and also quite entertaining. More please! I really appreciate all the time and effort you put into all of your VODs. Thank you 👍🏻
Very much enjoy this "walk-through" of your thought process. More please!
This format was great! Thanks for the instructive content.
Congrats on the victory !
Love the format.
Yea Eric, I love this kind of video.. Congrat on victory🎉🎉🎉
Great format thoroughly enjoyed!

Reminds me of 'the master game' BBC series that was aired in the 1980s. Well worth checking out on yt
thanks for the recommendation!
Great video Eric. Absolutely love this format!
I thoroughly enjoyed that
Really loving this format.
Loved the format, would watch this any day
I absolutely LOVE this new format. My voice is probably lost to the void, but whatever. I was actually really expecting you to do analysis, which would be a cool addition. I know you're probably worried about the length though.
This was great content - I loved to hear the thought process.
I think you could use the present tense to become even more immersive. So something like: “I wonder if he’s going to take this pawn. Oh… he does take it.”
Hey Eric, loved the format. Always interesting to get an insight to your thought process.
This is perfect Rosen content. I'd watch many more like this!
Great format! Your ideas and plans _in the moment_ are helpful in a different way than post mortem engine analysis. Great to know your tell - frequent blinking ;-) mhua-ha-ha!
Definitely want to see more vid like these!

I'm a fan of the format.
It reminded me a bit of the old BBC 'Master Game' series with masters commentating on their thought processes.
Loved this video format!
Great video! A fantastic idea. Could you please include the valuation bar? And after the match could you please show us the top/winning moves recommended by the engine? Why was Qe3 winning for example at 8:45? Thank you Eric!
I am always watching but very rarely leave a comment. This is great content and super instructive. Keep it up Eric! "Oh no my focus!"
This was great, really enjoyed this. Reminds me of the Josh Waitzken videos that taught me how to play chess two decades ago 🥰
Great video Eric, thank you for sharing!
Great stuff. So much to learn from one game, thanks.
Didn't see that checkmate coming 😂
Excellent format. A fun addition.
This video format is fantastic
Love the format, Eric!
Please do more of these!!!
