Shadow could be there as long as he was feeding her but when she had had enough to eat, it was time for him to go. Well, Shadow didn't think so and he wasn't going to let her tell him what to do. It was kind of hilarious to watch how angry she got but when she started biting, I was glad to see Shadow get after her. She's not independent yet, sassy little girl. Thanks, Cali, for another good video, much appreciated.
Or maybe it was: Dad do you have any idea what mom said to me?! And she was talking about this and that! And the time that you...! And then she proceeded to demonstrate how to pluck feathers!

Spirit is like a teenager they are fine when you bring them a pizza. The moment they are done they go back to their room. Shadow coming in is a big no-no to Spirit she basically is showing him the boundaries of her room and he should stay out of it. But father Shadow shows who's boss. Spirit is very protective of Egbert and the egg is also Spirit's source of comfort.
Oh, she's a spoiled little eaglet. 💖 Shadow has been such an awesome Daddy, even before hatched; he loved incubation more than Jackie would allow him. Those were some great videos. She's got her meal by her, yet Daddy is selflessly giving her all she wants. And he's HANGRY! 😁 I adore this family.
She is such a big girl now, but always loves to be feed by daddy. Love them so much😍🦅🦅🐥❤️😍🇩🇪
As much as I love her, she's getting too bossy. This is my first eaglet from hatching, but she seems to be bit too much to handle. I bet J&S have already packed for her!😆

This is a great throwback video. The nest is so much bigger in 2024. What a great job Shadow and Jackie have done. I can see why Spirit tries to hang around in 2024.

Shadow is such a loving, good daddy to Spirit. He still feeds her like she is a newborn even though she has her own fish right in front of her. What a fantastic daddy. I think that she is frustrated at being unable to fly at this point. She is cooped up in this nest when every part of her is telling her that she needs to soar above the trees and be free. Her parents understand the angst and are very patient with her.

I am not an expert, Last year this nest didn't hatch. Legacy from NEFL nest was my first eaglet. OMG you should have seen her, haha. My armature guess is that they are spoiled when there are no siblings to compete with
I was going to say something similar. Because there were two siblings, they may not have been as territorial of their nesting space.
She wants her back porch to wingercise, and tries to get Shadow to step out of it.
M J - Simba from J+S's first eaglets (poor Cookie passed due to hypothermia) was louder and could throw big tantrums - he'd really pull at Shadow's foot or ankle - Shadow took it like it was nothing.
I know Legacy was another single hatch at NEFL, but I think Simba topped both Legacy and Spirit - lol!!

Cali, I was trying all afternoon to figure out what that red thing was under Spirit's foot (at the beginning of this video) I didn't think that fish was that red, is it a fish or something else? I tried looking through the list of nest activity but couldn't figure anything out. Thank you in advance!

How do you tell an Eagles sex?
This eaglet must be out of the nest several day ago. That is not a good situation to not been in competition with an others brothers or sister in the nest. Parents much stop feeding her completely to reduce the weight of the eaglet to permit her to find her own food by flying away.
I’m pretty sure J&S know what they’re doing. 😏
