I've had mine for about a month now and just can't get enough of it. Such of a joy to ride on the curvy country roads that I ride on. I can't weight to load it up and take it to the Smoky Mountains here in the U.S. for a ride on the Dragon in the spring. I'm 5'6" My video shows my bike.
You have my envy.. bikes like you .. bikes hate me I think. I'm 6, 2. But yeah. We are who we are. Smoky mountains.. I'm on the plains of Lincolnshire. So fast ... 😆
Excellent stuff. Can’t wait for Spring so Kate can get out and use it properly. She got a few nice bits for it at Xmas so will do an update video showing what we’ve done too it👍 Am still planning a B2B test with an RVF400.
I've had my 4rr a few days now,I'm very impressed with it,very comfortable to sit on,a lot different to my ninja 400,definitely feel the power difference, just need to run it in carefully now
I'm enjoying the videos. Thanks. Look forward to seeing that zx4rr flat out. Maybe next year plan a ride to Ryka's. They're really doing the place up. Hit it right and obviously there will be 100s of bikes. The 2 stroke day is always good.
Nice one👍 we shall def do a video of it flat out in the Spring, I think it’s gonna sound special. Always liked Box Hill, so definitely add that to the list for next year👍
@mattbikes46 cool. I'll keep subscribed and follow your story. Liked the track days. I want to give the rg500 a good blast next year, hopefully on a track. Check out the Boxhill 2 stroke day. RD500 central this year. Tons of great bikes. Look forward to seeing you soon ua-cam.com/video/Ib3Tuzccwl4/v-deo.htmlsi=wShen_aey60LXKbU
As a fellow female rider, nice to hear kates review of this bike. How are you finding it 7 months on? Ive currently got a vfr 400 nc30 and would like to get some thing a bit newer but with similar power. Would a zx4rr be the ticket? Is the bike more comfortable than the old 90s 400s?
Thanks for the comment. Amazingly the bike is still being run in! Due to the poor weather and now Kate has hurt her back so riding has been a bit limited. I’ve been doing the running in for her, we’re just able to start opening it up. I’ve ridden a few of the 90s 400 sportsbikes so yes I think this would be a great replacement. I think it’s a bit more comfortable and the modern electronics (blipper etc) make it a lot easier to ride. It needs revving for sure, the power comes in quite high in the rev range. Once it’s run in will def do a better review, also want to do a back to back comparison with an RVF400👍 Get yourself a test ride on one, be interesting to see what you think.
Hi Odd question, did you insure your zx-4rr via the kawasaki insurance. Im trying to find an insurer who would insure this bike, but because it is so new it is not on there system yet apparently. Can I ask also how tall are you because I'm around 5'6 and 5'7.
Hello, what a nonsense that is…but I’m not surprised. Kate didn’t use the Kawasaki insurance though, have to check who she used…I know the was on the phone ages! Kate is 5’3”👍
@@mattbikes46 I contacted Bennetts but they need to look at some refferal (not sure what that means) and it will take up to two days they said. But as previously mentioned having a bit of difficulty getting it insured.
First thing I did was get some frame sliders. I am glad I did because I dropped it yesterday and they protected all the plastic on it. I'm a bit of a shorty as well. I'm thinking about lowering it about an inch. This bike reminds me so much of the Street Triple that I had in 2009 as far as the ergo.
Glad the bike was OK. Which sliders did you go for? Kate will prob get some for hers. Interesting about the Street Triple, I had a 2010 one which I absolutely loved👍
In 1995 I had a ZXR400L1 in pink, black and purple. It got backed over in a car park by some mare and when I rang her insurance company and demanded alternative transport while parts for mine were shipped from Japan I was told I could rent a bike up to the cc and type of bike I had and they'd pay up for the cost. So in the mid 90s you could rent a bike from Fowlers of Bristol, ZX-6R for £250 a week. Nope, insurance rejected cos cc was bigger. The only place in the country I could find a sports 400 to rent was Raceway Rentals in London, an RVF400 for £1000 a week. I rang up the insurer and appealed to common sense....nope, I had to have the 400, they weren't interested in letting me rent the bigger bike for a quarter of the price. Ten weeks it took for that boat to arrive from Japan.... What I remember from 30 odd years ago is the RVF cornered like it was on rails, you felt like you were sitting in it rather than on it. The ZXR had more power, way more power with the micron system, put its power down better and sounded better (RVFs sound like Dysons). Oh and the RVF was a grey import from Japan and was limited to 112mph (and I know that for sure). Ive been soooo tempted to get the ZX-4R but......I wouldn't use it, my commute is motorway miles on a Z1000SX. My touring is on a Z1000SX and my playtime is on a ZX-10R (yeah I know, there's a theme here....). The other thing that puts me off is the paint job, I must be the only Kawasaki loyalist whose never owned a green one. When they do a retro pink, black and purple I'll be unable to resist though....
Hope you're enjoying your new bike Kate, it looks stunning! Would love one of these but I'm struggling to find anyone who'll insure them! Woud mind letting me know who you insured with. Many thanks Trev 😊
Quicj question, had my ninja 125 for a year now, thinking of getting one of these or the new Zx6r ? Would you say this is better for a first beginner bike
Good question. I haven't ridden the latest ZX6, but have ridden and tracked quite a few earlier models and they're great bikes for sure. But I think I'd suggest the ZX4RR for your next step, it's a bit cheaper and it'll really teach you how to ride at that next level. The ZX4RR will definitely need more revving than a ZX6 but that's not a bad thing. The good thing with the ZX4RR is you can use all the power, try doing that on an S1000RR (on the road) and you'll likely get some bother! Worth asking other opinions as I'm sure others will disagree.
They were a great bike, Kate had hers for 17 years! Times move on though, my gut feeling is the electronics like the blipper and quick shifter be a big step forward. Be great to do a head to head, new vs original👍
Wanting one of these for my first bike however im getting quoted 600 pound on a gsxr 600 and when i got a quote on one of these its only bringing up one provider at 1650 i dont really understand why as these are less cc and bhp
Interesting I've heard this about the new BMW GS1300. Because they're a new model they insurers don't know how to deal with them. I'd def shop around and this isn't the case with all insurers.
My understanding is it’s quite different to the US model as in they aren’t restricted. I saw a really good UA-cam from Graces racing in the US, their race prepped seemed to be putting out the same as a standard UK model.
Yes agreed, I think that’s definitely influenced the weight as well. Bet it would like nice with a silver frame too👍 Soon be Spring so Kate will be able to get on with the running in.
It’s gonna sing! I think they’re roughly £9500, they’re in short supply so good deals aren’t really available, maybe when stock is readily available it’ll be easier to haggle.
Yeah that would be interesting, Kate has ridden a CBR650F some time back and quite liked it. I think it’s excellent that the sun £10k bike market has a lot of contenders now.
Sadly so. Kate will probably fit a tail tidy at some stage which will mean a different plate but our friends in blue love to hassle bikers for small plates…clearly haven’t got enough to do! Might have a UA-cam coming soon on that very topic!
@mattbikes46 I wish more bikes were made for big guys. I think there are very few. A 400 can do a lot speed but the ergonomics don't suit a bug chap like my self. I have VFR 750... truth be told its too fast for someone like me who hasn't been on bike for 5 years.. but it fits my frame. Pro tip. They only go as fast as you make them go.
Different bikes for different jobs👍 my knees are starting to object to longer rides on sports bikes but I’m fighting it! You might have seen our other videos on pit bikes…now that is a squeeze😹😹

So pleased for her, the bike looks amazing. I got a ninja 1000sx last year and it’s amazing. Kawasaki bikes are so well made.
Great video as always Matt & Kate can't wait to see it in the flesh soon!
We picked ours up a week or so ago.. Love it! (we also coincidently picked up a RVF400 too!!)
They smashed it on looks thats for sure! Such a good looking bike!
👏👏👏 NICE CHOICE ITS A GLOW IN THE DARK PAINT YOU CHOOSE.
Very cool to see the BSB livery, looks excellent. We have a ZXR400 since 18 years and added the ZX-4RR a few months ago, absolutely zero regrets.

It’s amazing how quickly they date!

We’re biased, but Kawasaki done a great job for sure.

Any low rpm hesitation/bog issues in 1st and 2nd? Almost like clutch slip when it warms up?
Interesting, not yet although Kate has only ridden it once so will update if any problems develop.
Lucky lucky!! Be careful scrubbing in those new tires in that cold British weather.
Absolutely, really not ideal this time of year. I don’t think it’ll get used much until the Spring sadly.
Is the uk model restricted like the US bike, or hopefully not. 👍😊👏

Sorry, Graves Racing not Graces!
Hopefully an update on the bike soon?
Hopefully going to record something this weekend🤞🤞 Kate has had a bad back so we’ve been a bit limited, but the running in is finally done✊✊
Only thing that was a miss on Kawasaki part on this 4rr is aluminum frame.
