I had the same thought when the girl said micellar water. I was so confused how that would actually work in terms of staying long term. The setting spray definitely makes much more sense.
I use the first trick on a daily while I go to beauty school and it stays for about 10+ hours from start of wearing it to taking it off it works very well!
Some biches just outrightly dumb
The micellar water evaporates, the pigments remain.
I dont know if any companies still do this but there was a trend like 10-15 years ago of eyeshadow pallets that were specifically made to be used like this. With water or setting spray.
For sho.i had one such pallette.
I also just use water or setting spray. I’ve always done this because eyeliner colors don’t normally come in other colors other than black or brown.
Straight away I was like “I use it to REMOVE makeup tf”
You can also use lubricant eye drops - ✨ glycerin.
I keep a plastic lid from an old bottle to spray my setting spray in to do this. That way it's contained and easily cleanable rather than dripping all over my counter/sink.
I use ELF. It works and isn't expensive
Setting spray is definitely my go to, it lasts a long time!!
I hace A better tip: Or use inglot Duraline and mix it with pigments shadows etc and you will have an waterproof eyeliner eyeshadow or whatever you want
You could actually use chapstick it is the perfect medium
I've always done this lol... That's why the other trend was so confusing
Dip in powder first then spray so you don't ruin your powders.
That's make sense
True!
Nah micellar water works way better and the colors just pop without having to use much product of either at all.
It stays just fine too and it's usually cheaper than setting spray. If you have both and you're gonna use setting spray over the rest of your face why waste dousing your brush.
Micellar all the way!
Issue is..it damages the palette
It's funny how she says obvious things as if she was talking to a 5 year old
I’ve been wearing eyeshadow as eyeliner for years and I dip my eyeliner brush in water shake it off dip it in eyeshadow put my eyeshadow on as eyeliner
how long it stays? does it smudges easily?
Me too
Does it ruin the palette?
@@lilitousinezhad4756 well i think dipping any sort of liquid will ultimately alter the shadow. i’ve used setting spray a lot for when i used shadows as liners and it sort of left an off-colored spot wherever i’d dip into the shadows, along with altering the texture a bit. but if you stick the just using one spot the rest of she shadow can be used just fine :)
Me too! And it lasts all day😊
Story time: In the 70s my mom NEVER left the house without her “face”. This always included her winged liner (think Barbra Streisand) anyway. She did this with a deep brown shadow that she loved. I used to watch the ritual; turn in tap, douse brush, swipe and swoop. She used a very thin brush, with a pointed, paint-brush tip, not angled. So adept. She was the master of sheer foundation too…she used a natural porous 🧽 sea sponge (with holes) and FILLED it with water 💦 A squeeze and dap dots of foundation all over her face a then swipe the quite wet sea-sponge to even all over. She was GORGEOUS, always polished but you could see her skin thru a bit. She ALWAYS used a squirt of liquid blush on apples of the cheek, sheer, glory, dewy…it looked like gel sort of (I know, but I’m having fun rn remembering because I think I’m gonna go get everything Mom did) Never without lipstick, never…she always chose a nude, or blush nude, she would apply with a brush like a liner FROM the stick and blot, (like a stain I guess) reapply full, blot and go. I wish I could show you a pic…people stared at her….I would beam holding her hand. Her fits too. Not basic. Anyway, off to buy a Sea sponge, if I can find the little ones. 🥰😎 Oh once? We were uncharacteristically camping 🏕 hahaha and she held a mirror while on a log and wetted her eyeliner brush between her lips 😆 so spit works too 🥹😅
i loved reading this ♡♡
I use regular water and it lasts for 9 hours which is basically my whole day
i can confirm that doing it micellar water stays just fine. just don’t mess with it till it’s dry and you’re likely going to use setting spray afterwards anyways and i’ve had it stay even without.
edit: after finishing the video i feel like the micellar water looks a lot better than with the setting spray too despite that colour looking gorgeous on the palette
Oooh setting spray is a great tip. I’ve only used a single shadow like this and dump some of the pigment out and dip a wet brush into that. I was told using a wet brush in the eyeshadow container itself could encourage mold growth.
I have been using eye drops for this hack. I used artificial tears or even contacts liquid. Works like Magic!
Best thing use duraline by inglot. It’s in my kit and every makeup artist’s kit , mufe aqua seal is also similar PPP
And inglot ain’t cheap honey.
@@anandabliss9997 makeup revolution had a similar product iirc. And even with duraline you need so little it should last ages. That said, it costs about 10 bucks for one bottle duraline.
@@anandabliss9997 depending on where you get it, it's between $10-$20 . That's not that bad as opposed to buying pre-made eyeliners that cost $3-$20 bucks a pop.
@@anandabliss9997 You can also use lubricant eye drops - ✨ glycerin.
@@NayaRuth does this work well? I’ve never heard of that technique before
Been doing water with black or brown shadow for years. Gives a more natural line, more subtle for my no make-up look.
I've been doing this for like the last year! I do alternative/gothic makeup and it's great for the huge eyeliner I do to save on actual eyeliner, also you can get inexpensive or use eyeshadow that is not pigmented to do this if you were planning to not use that eyeshadow again, I just spritz some setting spray in the eyeshadow and turn it into a paste to use and it is a bit cheaper than buying a bunch of eyeliners!
I’ve used both micellar water and setting spray and I honestly prefer micellar, which stays just as well as the setting spray, because the setting spray always stains my eyeshadow palettes and makes the top layer unusable with a regular dry brush, so just be careful of what kind of setting spray you are using
edit: micellar water does not have the same problem and leaves the palette clean and usable
Be careful using it in eyeshadow palettes that you really love because the shadow isn’t as useable after you get a lot of setting spray in it
I'm here to ask how to stop the setting Spray from hardening your eyeshadow in the pan 🤣 in going to do the water version then
@@daisiesandpandas1218 it’s almost impossible to keep it from hardening so usually it’s best to scrape some off onto a palette or piece or plastic and mix it on there 🥺
Use sterile eye drops (visine), keep with eye shadows. Add a few drops of visine and color in dry eye shadow deepens, can use a small brush to make eye shadow and a liner.
I use the micellar water to help remove makeup and clean my face... I feel like it would come off real quick that way
Oh wow that Hindash palette is gorgeous. Also videos like this are why I need you in my life. You should debunk more Tik tok makeup and skincare trends like this.
Even better to scrape out a little eyeshadow then spray that. Spraying/applying moisture directly to a pan can ruin the rest of the shadow over time !
Love this idea! My only question is, does the wetness of the brush ruin the eyeshadow or does it dry out
It will dry out because all of these products are water based
Or just use Duraline by Inglot which is specifically made to turn shadows into gel pigments 👍 ⭐️
I mix my eyeshadow with a single drop of Inglot Duraline and I have a perfect waterproof eyeliner.
@JJ JelyBean none of my dark eyeshadows look pretty in the pan now from where I've scraped some out onto a palette to mix with the Duraline. Worth it though 🙂
Dony spray it directly to the brush so you're spraying everywhere and not getting the brush really soaked. Just spray some on the lid of the case or anywhere so you'd have a blob and dip the brush to wet it as you go
I use a setting spray to make my black shadow a liner... Been doing this for years...
Before she showed us how to do it I was like "I hope it works with the setting spray I have" and then she whipped out the same one I have.
Yall youngins it's called foiling. We started this back in the late 90s. Super fun combos. Endless really
Thanks for the tip 👍🏻👍🏻
I can use makeup fixer??
I’ve been using water with eyeshadow to make liner for years. Haven’t thought of setting spray though! Will have to try!
I used to use plain water in high school. in my rural home town, the far away hot topic was the only place that sold something colorful. I did some wild goth looks then, they stayed pretty well (though my skin looked crusty because I didn’t moisturize)
Setting spray can be a better option than micellar water, however I’ve personally found that water gives better coverage. Then you can simply use setting spray on top. I don’t know if the palette affects the consistency though.
I’ve been using setting spray for this for years. Love it!
Me using spit 🤡
Hi, do you make reviews for botox and fillers? I will contact you for product collab
Agree 👍🏻 💯👏🏻 I have been using this hack since forever since they invented setting spray
I dont know if you are an aesthetician, but that is what I said you are. "You need to listen to my aesthetician, she is good."
Y'all. Inglot makes a product specifically FOR this purpose.
Wouldn't any liquid ruin the eyeshadow pan though? Like would make it all hard after it dries down?🤷🏽♀️
I’m done…🤯can’t believe I spent money on duraliner. Which works great but still…I could have just used setting spray. 😱☠️
There was no damn setting spray before 2010 seriously never seen anyone use this until last 10 years
Before micellar water, people used setting spray, before that- in the 1990s, they used water. Don't use micellar water.
Bobbi brown and Stila used water
Stila used to have the best lipsticks. Today's are good, but these were amazing. Named after actresses
Duraline works beautifully as well.
I have a technique for someone who's gonna try this with SPRAY type of setting spray.
*Use the cap of the setting spray so that you can actually get the pigment of the eyeshadow. The cap will then be filled with liquid (the setting spray) you can now dip you brush then just tip it over so that it will not be super wet. This actually saves you from spraying all over again to the brush.
Thank me later :)
She always has great information I love her she is the channel I go to to get recommendations on sunscreen and tinted moisturizers . Instead of spraying the spray onto the brush guys spray it into a small lid or cup so you can dip back into it without wasting your setting spray
Or you can use Inglot Duraline Mixing Liquid and that will make any eyeshadow into an eyeliner. 😉
My setting spray made the colour darker. What brand setting spray do ppl suggest?😊
Inglot Duraline. But do not dip brush with duraline into eyeshadows, or u will ruin them. Enjoy
I used to use plain old water in like 2005 and I'm kicking myself for never making a channel
Only concern there would be, would the setting spray cause any issues with the shadow in the pan afterwards? Like cause it to harden? I don’t really know how all that works clearly ..
Just be careful with plain water since it can harbor and help to grow bacteria. I wouldn’t mix it on the palette - I’d scrape a little off and mix it on a piece of packaging or something non-porous.
I've been doing this with setting spray for years but tbh not every eyeshadow works great for this, not even some water activated graphic liners I just orderd
but after dipping in the pan,the eyeshadow texture becomes weird no longer a pigment eyeshadow
Water : makes it pretty thin and runny also not that much color and clumps
Micellaire water : more color less clumpy but still very thin and doesn’t stay well
Setting spray : still a bit clumpy but stays on well and pretty color
I mean it's just logic, the purpose of micellar water is to cleanse so I have doubted that trick when I first saw someone did it.
I would wonder how the eyeshadow pallet will do after having setting spray soaked into it. Water will dry but it'd imagine setting spray would make it all hard and hard to use as power.
I haven't tried this so not sure.
Can you please do a tutorial on that exact way to do the eyeliner?
Yes please!
That's so wrong actually. You need to take a look at the ingredients lists and understand it before advising. 😕
Or just use mixing mediums made by makeup brands for this. Dura line etc
Black woman has idea
Everyone shows you how to do it better…smfh🤨
I use aloe vera gel and mix it with the eyeshadow powder i want and it works okay great and remains pigmented after i use the eyeshadow powder over the applied gel like just dab it
only problem is that if you go a little too heavy handed you'll crust up the eyeshadow and you'll have to scrape off the bit where the setting spray was. happened to me
The problem is setting spray is it messes up the product over time and make it less pigmented and hard to pick up the eyeshadow if it's dry
I don’t have a setting spray and use water, it stays better than straight shadow which I forget sometimes
Instead of spraying into the air, which wasted a lot of setting spray, one can spray it into a spoon or small bowl and then dip brush in it
I was wondering how makeup remover could work for this
I've used that before, it's not that great actually..
Dont spray it directly on, spray it in a small cup or container then dip and put in fridge or room temperature area after use
For anyone who wants to know. The song is SAUCE by Naika
I just use clear primer
Finally a video that makes sense 😄😄😄
Y'all just now getting that about setting spray?!
Smtimes you need brain even with make up stuff.
......what if.... I used.... primer.....? Bad idea? Idkokjw
Did everyone forget about duraline/inglot??
Spray the setting spray into a bowl just once and you waste a lot less of it
What kina brush ate you using? Thank you in advance
Amazing hack
Wait...it's that easy to do eyeliner...she did that in one stroke 🤯
If you take wine, or coca cola, or green tea, or cappuccino 🙄
I already do that and it works awesome . So setting spray yes
But it literally ruins the eyeshadow permanently
Girl I would never do that to a hindash palette 😭😭😭
I used to do this all the time… and i have no idea why but i used Toner.
She looks like Kate from Bridgeton!
Or good ol’spit just lick the brush 😂
Why are yall revealing my secrets? 🤭🤭🤭
