  • Friday 3rd of May 2019 was an important day at the Great Central for two reasons.
A 'new' restoration from Renaissance Railcars debuted on the Great Central and it was the 50th anniversary of the last trains operated by British Rail. Back in 1969 the service was operated exclusively by diesel multiple units.
To mark a new one coming into service the timetable was turned over to them again. Watch out great shots from the cab, passing shots and period uniforms. The new vehicle is 50203 which has been paired with 50266 and both smartly turned out in 'rail blue' with route indicators at each end.
Happily today the railway is a busy and vibrant place, becoming a thriving heritage venue. DMUs are still part of the mix for the brilliant forward view they offer to passengers. Soon enough they will be passing each other on the double track.
