Great Dive Video. I free dived Lauderdale by the sea in late May. The 1st line of Coral was simply fantastic!
Regarding the parking, if you get to Datura Avenue early, during the week, you are more than fine. Just did it last week, got to Force E to rent tanks by 8:00 am got there by 8:30, and parked just in front t of the beach. Spend an hour and 20 minutes underwater and when came back to the car people were waiting for parking like crazy. So just get there before 9:00 am during the week.
Great vid. Love LBTS especially at night. Parking on Datura is much better if you can get a spot. I'll be there in 10 days can't freakin wait.

I love LBTS. Cool coastal town. You are right that it is a solid dive. Every time I dive there and I walk out of the ocean onto the beach and all the tourists are lounging on the beach watching me I get this feeling of wholesomeness that I am part of the world and they are just watching it through a lens.

That’s my backyard dive spot! Not the best but much better than the lakes in Texas where I came from 😂
Watch the buoys for current conditions. Diving with friends we usually park a car near the pier and take another further south to launch. The baron spots are the separations in the reef. You guys are diving the “false reef” past the sand you get to number 1. Number 2 is around 50 feet, number three sits closer to 70 feet deep. It’s a tough swim to get out there though. Using a DPV is strongly encouraged for that

That first reef looked amazing! So cool! I'm not used to seeing that kind of reef off the beach in FL. Dove around Port St. Lucie and didn't see much in this respect.
Anything north of Jupiter is pretty baren. Jupiter is mainly sharks, then south of that it picks up all the way down to the Keys!

Freediving and scuba diving are my passion. I have been looking beaches where I can shoredive 30 feet deep in South Florida. How far would I have to swim out to reach 30 feet deep in Lauderdale by the sea?
What's the best timing for this shore dive, aside from arriving early to get good parking? Aside from wind and sea conditions, what about tides and other things to plan around?
Parking!! I used to teach the biggest barriers to continued diving are
1) no dive buddy
2) not owning your own gear
I’ve recently added (jokingly!)
3) finding parking!!

It's my biggest anxiety 😭 therefore my qualifications for a dive buddy are 1. Have to be a confident parker. That's it. I can take care of the rest

This may be farther down in the comments. My question is that when you mention starting at the pier and working your way back to car, would that have been working your way south? Was the current southernly? IOW moving from north to south? I enjoyed your video. Thanks much.
I can't remember the direction of the current this day but you always want to dive against the current to begin and ride it back so keep that in mind when planning! Try to find parking down current if possible
Im looking for a dive near fort lauderdale, where I can exprect to see other divers or snorklers. I go alone, and would like to swim with other snorklers or divers, my first time doing that in the area. Can you suggest any busy areas? P.S. sometimes I bring a small scuba tank 1.5, just for short beach dives, and am told by lifeguards I cannot. Looking for more spots that are scuba tank friendly.
There are good reefs that are easy to shore dive all the way north and south on the beaches from haulover inlet all the way top hillsboro inlet. I would recommend downloading navionics because it makes it quite easy to see where reefs are and how far out to get to them. The reefs off of LBTS pier have the most scuba divers but on calm days there is normally someone out in most places.

I got a heavy duty folding wagon to haul my gear around spring for the one that carries 350-400 lbs the 250 fall apart after a few months
I have one of those too but I feel like it would be something quickly stolen if left on the beach unattended, so we kept it locked in the trunk of the car!
I thought about that about an hour afterwards you need a shore support team that’s what my wife does for me !! If she doesn’t take car and go shopping
