In trying to keep mice out stuffing holes with coarse steel wool works well, (the kind used for stripping furniture). Once the holes are stuffed some insulation or spray foam seals it good. Mice and rats should avoid chewing the steel wool. You can leave some live traps to catch and release them after the steel wool is in place. Your place looks great by the way!!! 😊
For the plasterboards in the attic, call a few friends who owe you favors LOL and offer some good food as incentive. Also, some long T shaped braces will help hold up the boards.
I found your channel and am enjoying all you have accomplished. I too am DIYing a 1948 home in the USA. I am elderly but I have some of the same issues of the house that you have. I am getting ideas from you. I would appreciate a slow tour of all your house so far. You need to slow down as you video so we can fully see your work. You are doing a brilliant job. Love all you have done and the different paint colors. I know it has been very hard work to remodel even a small house. Keep up the good work but please consider a slow walk through. Thanks for taking your viewer with you in English. I just wish I spoke Swedish so I could view all the first videos!
Hi congratulations on getting so much achieved and electricity yay 🎉 Mice/Rats 😢 I sympathise greatly we have had mice for over 2 years now. At first we were putting humane traps down with very little success. We also hate to kill things but after they basically took over the house causing hundreds of pounds worth of damage we had no choice but to call in the professional and have them put poison down. I would like to say it got rid of them but it hasn't, 18 months later and we still have them just not as many. Unfortunately we live in a terraced house and they are just going between the houses via the walls. We are doing as much as we can, blocking holes etc others are not so we will never be free of them. As long as we don't spend another Christmas day with mice popping their heads out from under the sofas (very disconcerting but kids found it highly amusing 🤦🤦) I guess we will learn to deal with it. Good luck on getting rid of yours it will be easier for you as your in a detached home xx Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year and I hope 2024 is a wonderful year for you xx

OH MY GOD! Ok, you should be a comedian...I haven't laughed so hard in a long time! Mice popping their heads from under the sofa?! Why those little daredevils! I like your kids, they have a sense of humor...I know they can be annoying (the mice), I have a very fierce cat that only charges $10.00 per dead mouse if you want to rent her....I used to live next door to a restaurant that got shut down by the health department in our town. I got sick of the mice hanging out in my place and leaving mice poop everywhere....hence, my fierce cat. I don't like picking up a corpse here & there but at least she gets the job done. If you're going to get a cat make sure you count him/her in as part of the family & look for a cat with a pink tipped nose...those are the real hunters. Good Luck and thanks for the laughs!
@@sdmsdm7926 Happy to make someone laugh 🤣🤣 well no mice under the sofa this year but one scared the living daylights out of my oldest daughter in the kitchen 🤣 Sadly can't get a cat as we have a beautiful Staffordshire bull terrier who likes to chase them. Once she cornered one before we could stop her and she just looked up very puzzled wondering what to do now, the cat was a tad annoyed so swiped her with his claws and did a runner that solved that dilemma 🤣🤣🤣 We do stop her chasing them btw just that occasion she was too fast and the cat rather stupid 😁 Bonnie (the dog) is soft as anything otherwise and the mice actually like to taunt her. Had one sit in the middle of the hallway until she noticed it then it ran and she just looked and walked away 🤦🤦🤦 Hope you had a lovely Christmas and sadly for above reason I can't rent your cat that plus the fact I am in the UK would be a long way for it to travel 🤣🤣 Oh and btw genuinely we had two mice popping out from under the sofa all Christmas day that year 🤣🤣😱
Mint oil is also supposed help discourage rodents. The smell is just too overpowering to them. As someone else suggested, steel wool is a good filler that they won't chew up.

When attaching plasticpaper to a surface use a lot of water with one little drop of sulfo soap in. Then scrape. The bubbles left under the plastic WILL VANISH after some weeks. We were told this by two professionals. And we put frosted plastic paper on five windows. It's still nice now twenty years later. The outcome of your windows became really nice! 👍🙂

We also thought we had a rat or two. It turned out to be HUGE Yellow-necked mice. Rodents. One was caught under a teil on the roof. We tried the trap to a lath so it didn't escape with the trap.

Oh my you need to clean up everything in your basement put a lot of cinnamon sticks and bunches of mint but it’s important not to have anything in basement or attics to call attention to these unvisited guests if cinnamon/mint fails spray or towel soak in finger nail polish remover

In Denmark we are legally obligated to call the city pest control. And they will try to kill the rats. How is is where you live?
