Wonderful. Both Joy and Abdias were new to me. Both seem to be inspired byan older tradition that most of their peers, and that's so refreshing. I hear a lot Dinah Washington in Joy and a lot of Lester Young and Lou Donaldson in Abdias.
Great set today! I never heard Joy before and she's so authentic. She feels it so deep! Abdias is so soulful and with this great tone! Great tunes + outstanding musicians = Awesome gig!
When I find performances like this, I realize that I never wasted my UA-cam Premium Subscription. American music in general, and Jazz in particular, will be around long before we’re gone because it always find it’s champions.
"Love for Sale" is a master class in listening, reacting, interacting, and building intensity patiently. Excellent show all around. I hope Kyle brings an extra shirt to these shows!
Great show tonight ! Abdias is indeed a great new talent, there are many excellent tenor players around, but this guy is exceptional, and only 22 years young. I think it's time for Emmet to expand the trio to a quartet ! Now what a band that would be !!!
Finally caught up with this extraordinary set. Joy Brown is absolutely wonderful with killer timing & phrasing, and Abdias is unbelievably tasteful & sensitive. GREAT bass solo by Phillip Norris on Summertime!
Another fabulous session -- fabulous set choices, happy energy, musicians and vocalist, chemistry, engineering, and a lot of love for sale. You've transformed your home into an old, smoky club with a damp street and taxis out front and a short-order chef having a smoke in the alley out back and couples and groups and zoot suits at cocktail tables and experienced, salty servers and bartenders inside. Shanah Tovah to you and yours, Emmett!
Abdias, new to me, has built a very satisfying style steeped in the spirit of the elders, and Ruben has been digging my man Prez. Nice set, all the Great American Songbook, if you count "Roll Em, Pete," which I certainly do. I sense the influence on Joy of my man, Barry Harris, who I've recorded playing "Would You Like To Take A Walk?" and several other tunes that make up this set. First time in a couple of years I've heard the piano out of tune (in the upper range)!
I Got It Bad and That Ain't Good at 40:52: astonishingly good interpretation. I keep replaying it! Then I keep singing it. OK, I change "he" to "she." OK?

Tenor players Abdias Armenteros & Ruben Fox - both superb, killed it on Cherokee. They should credit Ruben in the description.
