You can't imagine the noise I made when I saw a new review! You got me into 35mm photography, starting with a om-1 and a recently acquired sf-70! Thanks for the amazing videos and inspiring me to find art in the world again!
Just ordered mine. Looking forward to it after seeing the pictures here. Though I know Im an amateur and will have to practice a lot to get shots like this. So far I used a Canon EOS 1000F. So this is my entry to medium format photography. No other affordable new option around :D
I watched your tour of the Polaroid factory a few days and a couple of other videos after that and I am hooked. No I am not planning to buy a film camera, I am digital guy all the way, but your videos on film & film camera history is the best. And your quick wit monologue makes these videos entertaining, so you have a new subscriber. To be honest I never heard of Lomo until today. Cheers from southern Georgian Bay, Ontario, Canada.
Yes the frame count as you mentioned has been my one issue with the 120 camera. My lca 120 will randomly have spacing issues. This is my second one as well. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to when it happens. I am very careful loading the film and advancing the frames. This has been my one issue with a camera that I otherwise love and feel, very close to and comfortable with.
Yeah, flash is my major problem with the LC-A 120. I love the look of the rear curtain sync, but wish there was a way to lock at a specific aperture with a fixed shutter like on the OG LCA. But for all it's quirks, you nailed it, it's the camera I can throw in a glove box and always have in the car, it's the one I'm bringing.
Just got the new Lomo LCA 120, the funny thing is that I have the same voigtlander rangefinder. I’m not one guru on zone focusing so external rangefinder is a perfect match. Thanks for the great video!
Oh man, I worked for lomography during the 20th anniversary…where have 10 years gone? Well, the years start comin’ and they don’t stop comin’. Jokes aside, thanks for sharing love for the LC-A. I still love mine all these years later, and have wanted to try the 120 version. Great video.
Man I was on the hunt for a LC-A 120 forever and managed to get one *last night* so imagine my surprise seeing this review the morning after! I look forward to having fun with it and the BLIK rangefinder built by LOMO to go with it.
These photos are awesome! Looks like you had a great time. Always loved Lomo and what they do. Need to bite the bullet and finally get my hands on one of their cameras
OK, you just blew my mind!!! I never thought of using a rangefinder on a LCA!!! New fun to come this weekend!!! I am a HUGE fan of the LCA, especially the instant version!!! But seeing you video makes me want that Lubitel 3D camera!!! I always assume 11 shot on the LCA 120, spacing is as good as a KIEV 60!!!
Heck yes Brian, whip it back out! Really wish I could try that Instant LC-A, maybe I’ll find one eventually. And yes that Sputnik Stereo camera is so gorgeous, makes wonderful pictures!
good work thank you please do you know wherw to get the service manuals or so to fixx this camera y ave one with a wings film transport problem thank you
I agree with everything you said! I wanted to love this camera so badly BUT not being able to have 12 shots per roll has made me abandon my LCA 120 for a long time now. Lomography replaced my camera cause it had serious issues but the new one has issues too… I was really enthusiastic about this camera at first but this thing with the number of shots produced is a serious disadvantage against all the advantages you mentioned. Love Lomography anyway ❤️
I’ve noticed that when it comes to using Lomo film on the LCA 120 will never get you 12 frames. It seems like their roll is shorter than Kodak. Also, when I spool a new roll, I align the two way arrows on the roll with the first metal roller instead of the indicator arrow on the camera.
Great video ! I used to have a Colorsplash Flash with my LCA120 but it broke a few years ago and the production seems to also have been stopped a while ago. Does anybody knows which flash he is using ? That would be so helpful, thank you !!
This was a great video!! I'll have to keep the camera in mind because the university budget doesn't leave much room for a hasselblad -_-, have you ever done a vid on MInT's TLR camera??
I haven’t bought 35 lomo lc alike 7 years ago, but now it costs a loooottttttt But photos are incredible! Hope to have a chance to shoot again by lomo lc a!❤ The soviet lomo lc a is kinda cheap still
It does cost a bit more for a newly produced one, but at least you get customer service, a warranty, and a new light meter and all that. I think prob worth it!
Ill admit, ive never given Lomography's cameras much credence, same with Holgas and other toy cameras. Just not my style. Turns out im an ignorant fool and now I want an LC-A 120 something fierce. I definitely experienced some sticker shock going to Lomo's website. But ill make it work one day.
Amazing review but the price is steep. For 500€ I would expect a bit more. If Mint and Pentax release new film cameras, Lomo will feel the heat for sure.
We shall see! They’re definitely expensive cameras to produce and Lomo is still fighting the good fight to keep them on the market. With nothing presently comparable, the price is sort of “setting the market.” We’ll see if Mint can produce anything cheaper but I really doubt it given the prices of their other products. Pentax…maybe!
My only complaint about the Minitar-1 is it's not suitable for digital cameras. Because of it's ridiculously miniature size, It sits too close to the sensor which creates purple fringing in the photos (not a problem on film). I really love how small it is, but I would definitely pick up a "v2" if they traded a bit of size to correct for digital sensors.
Hi Emilio! I reference multiple LC-As in this video - the Minitar-1 (LC-A M Mount lens, LC-A) is 2.8 and the Minigon/Biogon (LC-Wide, LC-A 120) are f/4.5
You can't imagine the noise I made when I saw a new review! You got me into 35mm photography, starting with a om-1 and a recently acquired sf-70! Thanks for the amazing videos and inspiring me to find art in the world again!
Thanks so much Lemon Tangerine!! Love hearing this so much
omg the LC-120 was MADE for you! Such dope shots, Ben!
Thanks so much B!! ♥️
idk but every video from u make me smile so much.❤
This comment makes me smile so much!
thank you for the intro! I have a smile from ear to ear ;-)
I'm smiling as well so this is great
These shots were crispier than a crinkle-cut fry on a crystal-clear Christmas Eve on Krypton. 🤌🏻
MY FAVORITE THING TO EAT IN MY FAVORITE PLACE ON EARTH 😍
Ben, you fed my soul with this generous helping of wonky catchphrases and witty one-liners. Also, loved seeing all the photos of my backyard!
Next photos will be through your window, keep an eye out!
@@InAnInstant I'll be waiting... 8)
The car mirror selfie with the Santa hat is so great
Thank you dude! Had to be done
That wide angle! Incredible, love how sharp the center is and how it slowly gets softer toward the edges. Might be finding a LCA in my mailbox soon😬
The distortion of the lens is so interesting, to me adds the image significantly, we gotta get you one of these zappers!

Neil, this is the finest feedback one can receive, so awesome to have you here on the channel and appreciate you checking out a few of the vids!

Apparently, the varying thickness of the backing paper from company to company causes issue with the spacing from what I've heard
U kno I'm bout dat LCA-120 lyfe. I think you're the only other person I know with this camera. I have made some of my favorite work on this chumpy.
We love dis chumpy!! Will never put it down
I have a camera sort of similar to the Lomo, a Halina! Took it on me to pilgrimage to Mecca and it blew my mind in terms of quality!
Great review. Love these road trip shoots in your videos.
Thank you mate - to me it's most rewarding when I'm shooting these videos on the go and capturing a cherished experience on film.

Totally Rich! And can't argue with the results
Fun trip! Seeing the seals must’ve been amazing to see 😮
They were dogs with finsssss and they were grumpy and I loved them
Wow, I love it! I have always avoided the lomo because I thought the price for a 35mm auto was a bit high, but a 120? Do I need it? Yes, I think I do!
I think you absolutely need it Aaron 😂 happy to be a bad influence
such an amazing review, LOVE the LCA120 too, thanks Ben (Hannah, Lomography UK)
Hannah! Thank you dearly, hope we cross paths soon enough ♥️
Just got the new Lomo LCA 120, the funny thing is that I have the same voigtlander rangefinder. I’m not one guru on zone focusing so external rangefinder is a perfect match. Thanks for the great video!

That's so sick! Was there a special edition back then? I know they fired one off for the 25th, beautiful design on those.
@@InAnInstant there certainly was! It was leather-wrapped and had a cute 20 logo on the back.

Yooo thanks so much homes! You definitely need a Lomographic popper, feel like it would fit your style nicely
That Scarce face reveal intro was awesome
🙈
I own a SWC but that LCA definitely looks like a cool camera.
shocked at how legit the images are!
Bro I was blown away the first time I got those negs back, completely ridiculous lens

Dang, that's a shame! Seems like a bizarre and fixable issue, but I know the manufacturing of these things is wickedly complicated.
I have the same problem with every kind of film I’ve tried…
Flash is meant to delay since it's the "rear curtain" variety 😊
The More You Know 🌈
I feel better about trying to rock the flash then!
Great video ! I used to have a Colorsplash Flash with my LCA120 but it broke a few years ago and the production seems to also have been stopped a while ago.
Does anybody knows which flash he is using ? That would be so helpful, thank you !!
Can you help me with the voigtlander rangefinder? What is the model? wher can i buy one, im trying on ebay but it´s not there. Please.
Love ur sense of humor, big fan 👍👍👍,🖖
Thank you Marci!! ♥️
"Live and pre-recorded" lmao please
Well it was live when I was pre-recording it 😂
Super camera , Olympus trip on steroids.

Lindas fotos! 🇧🇷
Great review and all, but where can I get that t-shirt please?
Haha I got that bad boy from Oxknit
great episode!!! I miss the drum roll though... :P
Thank you and ohhhh it’s comin back!!
Ben I think your issues might be because the LC-A 120 does a second curtain flash!
Ah I see Rich down below beat me to the punch :)
Rich beat you to the punch and hopefully will beat me in a back alley if I’m lucky 😍

I can't be the only one who has major, major problems getting film in and out of the LC-A 120. I had an early model. Did later versions address this?
Hmmm, I really haven't had any issues with that. the notches to secure the rolls on either side pop down, so the roll really should just slide in.
what’s the voigtlander attachment you’re using called ?
Official title is Voigtländer External Rangefinder 93/184
Ill admit, ive never given Lomography's cameras much credence, same with Holgas and other toy cameras. Just not my style.

Oh word! Didn’t know that even with the adapters it has that issue. Haven’t tried it yet on my R5, guess I’m not missing much 😂
@@InAnInstant I wonder if there's some sort of extender that could correct the issue 🤔 Not sure how that works with rangefinder coupling tho 😫
Oooof yeah that’s true, damn this isn’t a vibe at all
What film did you use
Lomo 100, 400, and 800!
Need a tomato-cam!
I believe it needs you as well 🍅
$400 and up for a plastic camera is a little shocking
To be fair, cameras like the Fuji GA645 were also plastic and retailed for over $1800.
I used to have this camera but could never get the hang of it, also the aperture max is f4.5 (listed on the lomography website) not f2.8
Hi Emilio! I reference multiple LC-As in this video - the Minitar-1 (LC-A M Mount lens, LC-A) is 2.8 and the Minigon/Biogon (LC-Wide, LC-A 120) are f/4.5
@@InAnInstant my mistake , I'm sorry 😀😀
Ayo 2057 squad!😆
RISE UP!!
The reliability of the LCA120’s meter (particularly for long exposures) is pretty impressive. Combined with the wide angle, it’s a tempting camera.
Great review, but it seems way overpriced for what it is ✌
Def depends! No other modern medium format cameras with auto exposure exist, so that's the market I suppose.
@@InAnInstant It is overpriced, objectively speaking. But it's been so worth it for me, personally. I love this camera.
@@InAnInstant If burning money as quickly as possible is the goal, sure 😄
With film it always is!
Die LC120 ist eine geile Kamera. Der Entfernungsmesser ist ein Gag, mehr nicht. Obsolet.
