I am very happy for Prof. Higgs and Englert. I can't imagine how it must feel to have your theory proven in your lifetime. So many of our best and brightest had passed long before their work was verified.
Given the number of conspiracy and religious, umm...people (trying to be diplomatic) who've shown up to share their ideas and beliefs I can't help but imagine Prof. Higgs would like to give Prof. Lederman a swift kick in the shin. You know, just quick little pop in the leg. Nothing too serious. Lederman would understand I'm sure.

Very nice video. Short and comprehensive. I was touched seeing the tears of Mr Higgs.

What would they do without us mad scientists who work 24/7 for over a decade?

Standard model complete with the "discovery" of the Higgs Boson? What about Dark energy and matter?

What I know about the atom,is when you rip the atom, the matter is simplified enough to get annihilated by antimatter, hidden in the atom. The need for annihilation must be one of the force in phisics.

sad to see that the stupid conspiracy videos have more views than what is meant to be going on at cern. :/

Even though they are all probably roughly the same size despite having different functions I would say the particles of The Standard Model are in average a few orders of magnitude wider than The Planck Length.

Did the gargamel sience proof the existense of smurfs anywhere in the galaxy . Because if smurfs are a bit like humans . Then we seriously need to save smurfette . 🤣🙏😇🥰🥰❤️&Light

there is no such thing as charge and mass space and time. the lever has only weight distance and oscillatory phase which are complex pure numbers with no counter parts. newton didn't consult Archimedes when declaring his false mechanics. everything you have after newton as physics is wrong in comparison with the geometric lever law.

Curiosity also killed the cat, you know...
why don't you work on real problems?

Curiosity may have killed the cat but ignorance is fatal to humans.
The world wide web was developed at CERN and you use it to stay informed.
Knowledge of particle physics has led to many real world problems being solved. Medical imaging wouldn't exist without it. Neither would digital equipment like your phone or pc, medical equipment, advanced spacecraft, and everything good that has brought.
Nations still go to war over scarce energy resources. We have just learned to scratch the surface of knowing how to get useful energy from atomic processes. How can we find a better way without exploration? Do you understand what cheap energy could do for food production alone?
