Love it! Couldn't find any tutorial that really helped me understand how it works to put them all in a row properly, yours really stands out! Thanks a lot! Germany says hello :)
I no this is an old video. But I am so chuffed I came across it. This is the best tutorial on anything I've seen on UA-cam. I love how you have the cameras. Well explained. Thanks had to sub
Thanks so much, you might have just saved the border of my wedding saree top as I can now straighten a sequin edge which was sewn on crookedly by the seamstress 🙏🏼
hey, planning on doing the same thing!! was just wondering what you made and how long it took? i wanna make a top to kinda resemble the top of the red bodysuit but i dont want to buy loads of materials if its gonna take 10000 hours haha
Hi Sarah. I'm into fashion and DIY and have been trying various things like Indian laces, African fabrics, tsumami zaiku, etc. This video is very good. Clear instructions and the calmness. I also like your nails. Thank you :)
Hi Sarah, I’m trying to learn embroidery from books so far but finding it difficult. Not helped by the fact I’m an amputee (no left hand) so not the most nimble fingered individual... I find your teaching method very easy to follow, the perfect pace, not rushed as many sewing demos I’ve seen so far and, having the close up split screen is SO useful to me as I can see the movement and placement of your fingers and stitches as you go, something that doesn’t translate very easily from books with directional arrows and - - - kind of instructions. I just wanted you to know how happy I was to find you today. I was really struggling trying to sew a random sequins onto a pair of jeans only to have them bouncing off for my cat to steal, leaving me to cut off and chase him for fear of him swallowing one! This was my 1st of your lessons but I have instantly subscribed and now plan to work my way through your lessons on scrap fabric first, rather than actual garments. I need to learn to walk from you before I try to run. Best wishes and thanks again and apologies for the lengthy message! XxX
Thank you for your kind words Ellie, so glad you are finding the vidoes useful. I've never tried to stitch with one hand so I'm in awe of your ability. Some stitches will be easier than others regarding holding the thread etc so I suggest if you are finding one difficult move on and another might be easier. There are plenty to learn, you won't run out of ones to try!
Sarah Homfray Embroidery Thanks Sarah. That frame you use looks like just what I need as I struggle to even hold the hoops so tend to grip it under my chin or stump. Both super awkward. Any idea where I can get a good one on a sickpay budget?
Thinking about creating a disco Barbie jumpsuit and you made me feel way less intimidated with the sequins. The way you explain it, it doesn't seem so hard after all. Thanks!
Beads and sequins are often tamboured on shop bought clothes Theresa (see our tambour videos!) and if the end breaks then they all fall off! Stitching them on this way with make them last much longer
Just found your channel looking for a sequin tutorial. Excellent camera positioning, especially seeing two views side by side, wonderful camera work with changing angles, and you have an incredibly clear and soothing way of speaking and explaining. I am sure I'll revisit! Thanks for putting this up! My only problem now is that I had thought about putting them down in a row, but I only have the cup-shaped ones... 😅 Anyway, I think I'll work it out somehow or just make a row using beads... 😉
Seems that its easier to do beads and sequins with the embroidery frame rather than the hoop. I'm wondering if that would be a good purchase for me as I love embroidery and its been my hobby for retirement. One of them anyway.
thank you sooooooo much for that tutorial , i watched maybe 6 or 7 before your's but they were either too fast , or in spanish ( and i just speak french and english :p) or they ware lacking explanations, your video was really hellfull too me , you take things slow , explain it , it was everything i needed ^^ . so thanks again
You are welcome Marine! Glad this worked for you. If you look in video settings you can actually slow the videos down but there is also the pause button if you need it!
You can see the frame set up I use here Kayrene: ua-cam.com/video/bKMFm31UCRQ/v-deo.html It is a verstile table clamp and sometimes I use round frames in it sometimes the square ones. I prefer the square ones as they don't mark the fabric and the fabric stays tighter on them. You can buy the table clamps, round frames and square frames from our shop here (we ship worldwide!): www.sarahhomfray.com/myshop/cat_264747-Embroidery-Equipment.html (I'm using two table clamps in the videos to keep the frame extra steady under the camera but you only really need one)
Thank you Sarah for how to hold the sequins! Its bern hard to find a video visual understanding until you showed us how to use them- TY Sandi Myer!

I don't often work with sequins and when I do, I always come back to this tutorial first to refresh my memory. So thank you!

You can put cup shape sequins in a row but you just won't be able to overlap them calciyum88!
Thank you this was very helpful!

Thank you. Very good tutorial.
Looking into customizing my wedding dress with sequins. Thank you!
You can buy an 'invisible ' thread to put them on with Eryn if you want to sew them onto sheer or lace fabric...
thank you sooooooo much for that tutorial , i watched maybe 6 or 7 before your's but they were either too fast , or in spanish ( and i just speak french and english :p) or they ware lacking explanations, your video was really hellfull too me , you take things slow , explain it , it was everything i needed ^^ . so thanks again

Which thead ur using for sequins
Thank you for this video? Hello what type and size of needle do you use?
As small as you can get away with Miss Madison! Use an embroidery or beedling needle and just check that the sequin/bead will fit over the eye
How about that stand? I so need one of those. About to sequin two large Christmas stockings. Is that a round area on top, or square? Thank you.
How, I think I see that stand, it's kind of rectangular shape. Very unhappy people have bought that. Do you like it?
You can see the frame set up I use here Kayrene:

@@SarahHomfrayEmbroidery Thank you! I will check it out!
How do you work with sequince without holes on it?
Hello , I have a question can you sew sequins and beads onto double gauze muslin fabric ?
I don't see why not Victor! Have you got a small piece you can try it on?
@@SarahHomfrayEmbroidery yea it works, I was just worried since it’s not as stiff a fabric like others
is there a way to lay them so the thread isn't showing?
Use the overlapping method and make sure the stitch goes on the part that will be overlapped
the last one , is it an reversible ?
Do you mean can you go in the other direction?
What kind of table is that?
Are y'all following me? I sold a Sweater with stained sequins .I could have replaced them if this had been offered up then. ??g..
