      Thanks! Just remember to screw the lid on while it's coming to a boil to make it faster

    So has this been tested for plastics in the water after boiling? Doesn’t look like I’d would trust that.

    • @mealsunderpressure
      @mealsunderpressure  7 місяців тому

      Have no way of testing that. But I did not taste any plastic in the boil water or shrimp

      I wouldn't trust it. They couldn't have made this same design in a steel bucket.

      @@UnburdenedByWhatHasBeenthe plastic is food grade and has a higher melting point. A metal bucket would conduct the heat to the outside

      Why not just put a heating element in a stainless steel pot? I’m with everyone else here about the plastic. I don’t even use plastic in my microwave anymore

    Can you fry in these too? Not sure how the heating element would react to oil.

    • @mealsunderpressure
      @mealsunderpressure  7 місяців тому +1

      I would definitely not recommend frying in this. i just dont think the hot oil would react good with the plastic. Great question though

    Thanks for the review. Does the food fall directly on the heating element, or is there a screen above the element?

    • @mealsunderpressure
      @mealsunderpressure  Рік тому

      There is not a screen over the heating element, so yes, the food fell directly on it. It didn't seem to be an issue though

    This looks like a good product. Are you still satisfied? Is the bucket holding up well? The current pot we use for shrimp boils we also use for blanching vegetables in the summer. How do you think this product would do with blanching vegetables for the freezer?

    • @mealsunderpressure
      @mealsunderpressure  2 місяці тому

      @@bradknox9506 yes we still use it, and it has held up great. I don’t see why it wouldn’t work with blanching vegetables, and it is big enough

    Do you wait for the shrimp to boil then 2 minutes? Also how long do you soak them after you unplug it? Usually I take my shrimp right out after 2 minutes of boiling them.

    • @mealsunderpressure
      @mealsunderpressure  4 місяці тому

      I dump the shrimp into a roiling boil and let them cook for 2 minutes before I remove them. The only time I let them soak is if I can almost immediately cool down the water, like with a bag of ice

      @@jasonmelancon8096 you won't be disappointed. We rent a condo every year in Orange Beach, AL, that doesn't allow propane burners. This works out perfect.

    How many times have you used it, and is it still working OK?

    • @mealsunderpressure
      @mealsunderpressure  8 місяців тому +1

      I have used it twice, both times with shrimp. The second time it worked the same as the first. The only drawback I have found is it takes a little more time to come to a boil than propane, but I also don't have to worry about buying propane. I don't think I will use it when I boil crawfish because I usually boil A LOT of crawfish, and plus I like the water to come to a real rolling boil for those

      I'm running a test on my bucket now. At 15 minutes it's boiling. Temp is 64 now. I'm going to buy a piece of rigid foam insulation to set under the bucket. Our concrete porch is too big an insulator.

      Full boil took about 30 minutes. I added another quart of water. 1 hour start to finish with Taters, Corn, Sausage & Shrimp! I have a 2nd food safe bucket that I drained the water into. That would make it easy to get a 2nd batch going.
