This is my all time favourite Christmas movie, no doubt. In fact I’m watching it literally right this second, and it’s two days after thanksgiving. This movie is a tradition to watch when it nears Christmas, I love it so much. *I can’t put my arms down..*
My favorite Christmas movie that I watch every year. My son and I watched one year when it was on for 24 hours. I don't know how many times we watched it, but we drove my husband crazy!
The scenes at the school were filmed in my hometown of St.Catharines, the school was known as Victoria Public School which has since closed and is now a woman's shelter.
This used to be my absolute favorite movie as a kid. I used to watch it at least once every day essentially, but most of the time I'd end up watching it more than once. Gotta watch it again some time
One of my absolute favourite films. Made the year I was born, it's a simple story about a simple family in simpler times. It addresses the scary problems you face as a child but can laugh about in adulthood, while seeing that adults and parents have their own problems, thus deflecting attention from you as a kid getting into trouble. Difficult to explain but it makes sense when you watch it. Definitely in the category of The Don't Make Them Like That Anymore.
Watch this every year several times during the season. Have it on DVD. It’s a favorite, always watch the Marathon too. Never miss it. Thank you so much for sharing, really appreciate it.
I've been watching Christmas Story since my buddies and I washed it together in the '80s. As I got older, I come to really appreciate how the narrator, supposing to be the kid grown up. Speaks of the father's personality in such a legendary and respectable way. It's like he admired and understood, why his dad was the man he was.
Jean Shepherd was a genius. Listen to his thousands of hours of extemporaneous radio shows going back to the 40's. I discovered him in the 70's. Joe frank is perhaps in the same pantheon but Joe's process is produce and polish--usually resulting in a brilliant gem. Jean just pulled it out of nowhere--week, after week, after week. Jean Shepherd was a narrative genius :)!!
A friend introduced me to this movie in the 1980's. A good friend. And a good movie! I've tried to encourage my elderly Midwestern dad to see it. This is in my mind an early "cult classic" that later became a phenomenon. Thanks, my old dear friend. And Merry Christmas!
This'll be my 21st Christmas with watching the movie 24hours. Well okay, there were times that my mom turned it off after the first time. At my gramma and grandpa's though, it was played throughout the whole day. The best thing about it, is if you missed certain parts the first time, you could piece it together throughout the day
🦌 i was watching a Christmas story the other day and it kind of remind me of something back from when I was a young kid back then. I was remembering those Christmas catalogs we use to get through the mail from these companies. The Christmas catalogs I'm talking about are Sears, JCPenney's, Toys r Us, KB toy store, Kmart and orr's and the thing is our parents use to get so mad at us when we use to circle everything in these Christmas catalogs. Great times, great memories and great entertainment. Miss the '80s and I miss being a kid back in those days too
0:03- From the director of Black Christmas and Porky's. 0:09- What do you mean? I always get my family members A Christmas Story memorabilia. It's all that Christmas stores have anymore. 0:27- I think we have a winner for 1983 title cards.
Now I know that some of you haven't seen this...but you have refused to say who. But those who didn't see it know their blame. And I'm sure that the guilt you feel is far worse than any punishment you might receive. Now dont you all feel terrible? Dont you feel remorse for what you haven't done? That's all I'm going to say about this good flick.
This movie is Christmas. It’s impossible not to come across this movie when you’re talking about Christmas. Believe someone will bring it up. The pole scene alone is iconic and referenced in tv shows and movies even when it’s not Christmas.

This is absolutely a Christmas classic this movie is so funny and a favorite for all who loves this movie, it is so funny how a low budget movie such as this is such a big success, well it’s no wonder why it’s a great movie and I love every minute of it of course the best part in the movie is when Ralphie puts on the bunny costume and another good one is when The Old Man receives The Leg Lamp classic moments in movie history A Christmas Story is a movie for the whole family to enjoy. The acting, directing and the story is great. This is one too watch every Christmas. If you have not seen this movie then I recommend you do rating 5/5
I watched it again today for the first time since Christmas '16. I was way more cynical back then than i am now but ended up tearing up when Ralphie got his BB gun.
There's a Ralphie inside the vast majority of us. We never got that special gift that we always wanted, for whatever the reason we never did. To some extent the movie fills that void, at least one of us got his wishes fulfilled.
☃️🎄Christmas Story is the best! I can't put my arms down, Mom says going to schools! Put your arm down! And started to cry! 😭😭😭That's my favorite one!☃️🎄☃️🎄 it's a good film for the holiday! ☃️🎄
A Christmas Story (1983) Director: Bob Clark Filming Dates: January 14, 1983 - March 24, 1983 Release Date: November 18, 1983 MPAA Rating: PG [Parental Guidance Suggested] Runtime: 1 hr 33 min (93 min) Studio: Warner Bros. Pictures (Warner Bros.)
*"Holy cow, it's the fire department!!"* *"Wow, it's the cops!!!"* I grew up in Boston. So, hearing sirens, cops, fire trucks, and especially ambulances was something we heard literally every 5-10 minutes, day and night. So, one day we ended up moving to a slow, sleepy country-type town in Massachusetts for a year. I swear, after being there about 3 or 4 months, one day we heard a siren. With my years of experience, i could tell immediately it was a fire truck. Everyone in the entire class runs over to the window in amazement. Mumbling things like "I wonder what they're going to do!!" and "I bet there's a big forest fire somewhere!!" Even the teacher ran over to look out at the fire truck. LMAO!!! Anyone who lives in a city knows why i found that hilarious. I was "weird" because i was the only one who didnt sprint over to the window. My teacher repeatedly asking me what was wrong and if i was feeling okay. When i explained it to her, in front of the class, they all seemed to feel insulted. Lol. I moved back to the city 4 months later.
Eek. lol I've lived in SD most of my life and when we lived in the nasty areas (of the county) we definitely had to hear sirens throughout every day and police helicopters at least a few times a week. It's not a good thing, I'm glad we finally moved away from there to where it's rare we hear sirens (by rare I mean once a week or so..). It's peaceful and I took it as a sign we are truly moving up in the world a long struggle. We aren't very far from SD and yet still live in a busy city; it's just a lot nicer and less people willing to/ feeling a need to start crap. Sounds like a lot of upset desperate people in Boston. I don't know why anyone would brag about such a thing.
I'm kind of afraid to watch the sequel. The original is just SOOOOO friggin good. When I do watch the new one, I'm going to go into it with the assumption that it's going to be a disappointment....that way I can't be disappointed. I'll either be pleasantly surprised....or vindicated 😉😂🤣
What?!?! Lol. Not even close! The trailer would have to be a movie in length to get anywhere close to all the punchlines in this movie. This movie is one classic, after another... from start to finish. I was actually pleasantly surprised how many of the classics they left out!! Here's just a few iconic scenes: They didn't cover the flag pole, or the changing of the flat tire, or his arms stuck up, or the Ovaltine, or soap blindness, or EVEN one of the many "You'll shoot your eye out!" parts. Heck.....they didn't even mention the Red Ryder BB gun!
Happy 40th anniversary to a holiday classic! I admit when I first saw this years ago, I thought it was going to be all mean spirited. But I was proven mostly wrong!
Honestly, what makes me laugh the most, is how many people love this movie. I honestly did not find it funny at all, but I do think the characters are a little demented; therefore, this movie must appeal to equally special people.
"A Christmas Story" drinking game (for ADULT viewers only, obviously) Take one shot every time: Ralphie has a daydream fantasy Someone tells Ralphie "You'll shoot your eye out!" The younger brother Randy whines and cries about something
I've been told this movie plays nonstop on Christmas Day, yet I've never seen this movie ever in my life.

It's hard to appreciate how funny the movie is, without the brilliant narration!
My favorite Christmas movie that I watch every year. My son and I watched one year when it was on for 24 hours. I don't know how many times we watched it, but we drove my husband crazy!
I dont blame him. That film made me want to scratch my eyes out.

I watch this every year for Christmas 😄 It has that magic ability to never get old.

1940, the same year Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected for his third term!

Happy 40th anniversary to a holiday classic! I admit when I first saw this years ago, I thought it was going to be all mean spirited. But I was proven mostly wrong!
I loved this movie as a child but only now knew it's name.
The part I really remember from the trailer is Santa pushing Ralphie down the slide with his foot.
this movie kinda reminds of an live-action-40s-set-in South Park movie.
It the best christmas movie
Friggin classic
