Erm, for downloading the free book the homepage wants my full address, or I can't have it. I don't feel comfortable to giving it. Do I just use some bogus address?
For a free e-book, you certainly require all of my information including a billing address -- for which to send no bill. WHY? This makes me feel like you're just going to sell my information. If it's really free, why not just give a link to a download? This feels super sketchy.
^ I've designed websites: It's requesting that info bc the website is designed (programmed) to process sales. For example, redeeming a coupon for most major retailers requests a promo code, and then generally asks for your info because the site is still processing a transaction. Anyways, Thank you for the free ebooks Cas! Your content is always so helpful 🙌💖
Cas! Did you not just tell us a couple of days ago that you have too much going on right now?? No chickens girl. No chickens. Especially if you don't eat many eggs!
Oh my....on chickens. If you don't like eggs or you don't want them for meat. I would say just go visit a friend witth chickens. They can be a ton of work.
I'm divorced and a mother of three young boys. I work full time as an assistant nurse and some days I just feel overwhelmed with,, life. I just wanted to write and tell you that your videos help me so much. Your positive energy and attitude is contagious. Thank you for that. Love from Sweden ❤
If you don't particularly like eggs or chickens, then what you really need is a friend that has chickens. That way, when you visit your friend you can also get your chicken fix at the same time.
What a blessing you are. We had old friends over for dinner last year and she asked me 3 times well is that all you do? Being a wife, Mom, business owner was not enough in her book. I felt so judged. Needless to say I felt attacked and hurt. Thank you for your inspirational view.
@@mis7089 Oh love, 1 that person isn't your friend- my personal opinion. Forget business owner, being MOM and running a household is the most challenging job anyone can do. Women were designed wrong, we should have been born with 8 arms like octopus lol. Tending to the growing development of other souls, the health of other souls in every way, running a household, bet there are aging parents in your life as well. 2 Also bet you are putting YOU last on the long list of life tasks, You need to find breathing space and care for yourself. 3 You are running a business on top of all of that. YOU are rocking life, you get to choose your priorities. The next time you have a guest who makes you feel judged under your own roof, please ask them to clarify what they mean by "is that all you do". Set that person straight and remember there was a doorway for them to enter, show them the way out. You have the right to not be judged in your own home by people who don't live your life. 🥰
@@Ahonui77 , It's a little thing that can help others feel good, it seems to take some hands off guard lol, but gives them the gift of choosing what they will communicate with you about. We all have a different purpose and unique way to be valuable beyond $$$ earned.
I found out the hard way that very few people join groups and classes alone so it still makes it very challenging to make friends in those spaces. People don't go there to make friends, they go to spend time with their friends taking part in something.
I am sorry you've had that experience. I belong to a scrapbooking/crafting group that meets twice a month at a senior center. We always welcome new people and we've all become very close. It's our therapy. We have new people join us several times a year and those people come back every month. I do know that other people have had experiences similar to you in other crafting groups. Just keep trying. You'll find your people. One lady in my crafting group I met at a Bunco party that I heard of on Craigslist. That was 5 years ago. Don't give up. Maybe volunteer? animal shelters? food centers?
Here is something that my daughter and I do…1-2 times a month, we go out for coffee together. We usually go to my DIL’s bakery (where sometimes we run into my son) but also will head to a mom & pop cafe for a full meal. This has helped our bond grow even stronger. So, start by taking your daughter’s out for on-on-one time. They will come to cherish those moments. I also have done this with my son, but his schedule is crazy so I usually just head to his house to visit (they just had a baby!).
Here's what I always think about keeping chickens, or any livestock: who will take care of them when you leave? Seriously. You can't drop a bunch of chickens off at your vet for boarding. If you don't like eggs, does your family? Are you planning to eat those chickens? Isn't it easier to just pick up a dozen eggs when you need them and get nicely packaged chicken thighs at the store? Are you prepared to deal with the cost of keeping chickens? In summer they can scratch for bugs and what not, but you're in Canada! What happens in the winter? I mean chicken feed ain't chicken feed, know what I mean? And you have to protect them from the elements. And predators. You're in the country. Are there foxes, coyotes, wolves, bears? Sasquatch? You may find out that there are at the worst moment. Are you planning a cottage industry to sell the eggs? Check the local food selling regs. Hmmm...Gosh, don't you have enough going on with being a firefighter, and your amazing YT channel and having had an HGTV show? I told my husband about that and seriously, we're both fangirlling you for it. You will be in the best shape of your life and you've got that big textbook to learn...Have I talked you out of the chicken thing yet? (By the say, I once had a friend who became a chicken farmer. She went from city slicker to chicken farmer...It's work. Really hard work.) BTW, I'm 65 and just now starting classes for my PhD. You go girl, in all you want to do! But maybe the chicken thing...uh...no.
I agree. I have an elderly neighbor who had a medical emergency that put her in the hospital for a week. I took care of her pets, plants and chickens while she was in the hospital. If I hadn't stepped up, who knows what would have happened to them.
@@barqu1636 you'd be surprised how well they take care of themselves here in South Florida. We have wild chickens everywhere and they seem to be doing just fine, perhaps they're taking life lessons from the city birds.
Ah... The baby chick fever. Been there done that. Chickens were neat To have and raise and I'm glad I had that experience, but they were so much work! Some advice: Prefab coops are usually too small for chickens. Chickens get sick easily and if they don't get sick and die they end up getting eaten by a predator. Most vets do not treat chickens and if they do they are classified as an exotic pet and will cost you more. You basically have to be your own chicken doctor. Chickens are loud and messy. They poop everywhere. Hens sing a song when they lay eggs and rooster crow anytime they want to not just at sunrise. Some other issues: dealing with frostbite on the chickens combs and wattles in the cold winter months and dealing with their water freezing. In the summer they can get heat stroke and die. Take it from someone who raised chickens, don't get them especially if you don't eat eggs and don't plan on selling eggs or raising chickens to eat. There are easier things to do in the homestead hobby than raise chickens. ;)
Stop Cass!!!! Breathe!!! Enjoy what you already have!!!! I lived a hyped up life for so long!! It is an addiction and when you force yourself to slow down, your mind will slow down. And you can live a simple life. Doing what you do well. Do it for your husband! And for your viewership. That busyness keeps so many from simplifying their homes. It doesn’t have to be boring. It can be deeply fulfilling and satisfying. Just my 2 cents-❤
I always had trouble maintaining friendships with girlfriends as well. Then I went to my first Sci-fi convention. I am a big Sci-fi nerd. I met some people, joined a meet up group. I ended up making some amazing friends! 18 years later, I am still friends with almost all of them. They are my people! And I truly have found my place in the world! So, I echo the advice of finding people through common interests or hobbies! Not only will you be able to do things together that you all enjoy but, you will always have things to talk about that you find interesting!
Let the chicken idea go Cas. They might end up drowning in your backyard that gets flooded! I know people who got rid of their chickens because of the smell, especially when it rains, chicken poo smells awful and wet chicken poo even worse!! Chicken coop, chicken feed, chicken feeders and watering cans, going out to care for them in all kinds of weather, etc. As for the chicken idea, "This too shall pass!!" Just let it go Cas, let it go!!
I was pretty light on friends, so I joined 2 local writers groups. Now I have so many friends, and it's so much fun. So I think the doc 's recommendation is perfect.
It's so likely that you will not even read this message, but maybe I just need to write it down for it to become a reality. I have everything I've been asking for in my marriage, my kids my home, my work (from home) my salary (other than my home and car, I am debt free) With all that said, I am feeling very alone, can't find anything to do in the area yet, and can't find someone to do it with, like a gym partner, or a craft buddy, or someone that will take a walk with me during the day. I am SUPER thankful for everything I do have, and at the risk of sounding like I am complaining, this is something I truly need. I believe that having a "buddy" will motivate me to do more things, other than work. Thanks so much for your ebook. I am going to download this now, and start working on what I can. ❤❤❤
No chickens! 'nuf said. I read through a lot of the comments, and don't have anything new to say, but as a chicken-sitter when my friends are gone... let me just say that I'm always thrilled when they're back home!!!
I haven't even watched the video yet. But Cass I have to tell you that YOUR AMAZING! Your videos helped me get though several mentally draining, hard and emotionally exhausting events and situations. My son just turned 9 MTHS and your videos got me to actually get up and accomplish what i could during my pregnancy and post partum. THANK YOU for everything you do.
Very nice video Cass 💛 For chickens it is not authorized in all cities, there are standards (such as a maximum number of chickens, health standards, etc.). My colleague had chickens and it's surprisingly a lot of maintenance and still expensive, you have to feed them, clean them, maintain the enclosure, we are in Canada you have to remember that in the fall/winter/spring the chickens have to had a heated place, that we cannot skip a day without feeding them, therefore more complicated travel etc. I sincerely believe that with everything you do and work (which is incredible), this is a lot of extra work 😅 in my humble opinion perhaps taking it all more relaxed during your free time would perhaps be better, for now 💛🙂
She lives out in the country so I doubt that’ll be an issue. I have chickens and I find them rather easy to take care of and after you get the coop and I initial stuff, it’s pretty inexpensive to take care of them! Especially compared to other animals like cats or dogs.
Cass, I adore you, so I am going to point out that you are (what my family and I refer to as) "hyper-oojamaflipping" - doing all the "things", with increasing velocity. In ADHD it happens because of our constant need to manually restock our dopamine levels. Each time those levels start to settle (cos let's face it, contentment isn't stimulating), we feel the need for a new high. We (our family) pull each other up because we have all experienced the inevitable crash that comes with too much fun. It feels and looks AMAZEBALLS all the way to burnout. You actually helped me rein it in a little and keep a lid on it. One very precious piece of advice you have given us recently is to always leave 20% free space. I apply that rule now to my time and money. As for chickens, homesteading looks so glamorous -but it comes with many caveats. No warm sleep-ins (ever), chicken mites making their way into your furnishings (they bite us), some awful sounds at the crack of dawn, and the poop -everywhereee if you free range, and the stench of it is an absolute assault. If you don't even like eggs, I can think of no worthy reason to put yourself through it. Get a goat or something. Stay awesome Cass -one oojamaflip at a time!
Yes you are right n I’m 73 n changing everything in my life to do and be who I really am. You have to get out of toxic environments n find people who laugh n hug you when you have a bad day. Thank you🥰
As far as chickens go, before you get them Keep in mind that they have to eat and they need water and you have to clean up after them. So if you don't like fresh eggs or chickens in general you should probably pass on the baby chicks.
We have a lake-side cottage way out in the country, and somewhere in the neighbourhood, someone has a rooster. How do I know? Because that thing NEVER stops crowing. Never. Even if the owner doesn't mind the noise, everyone else nearby has to listen to it as well. It is just like living near a dog that never stops barking. The owner goes deaf to the sound, but the rest of the neighbours are being driven crazy-pants. I don't know anything about chickens, But I know that I don't care for noisy roosters. I hope that you have good luck finding a new friend. Anyone would be lucky to have you for a pal.
Cass- I wish we lived near each other, I would love to be your friend! My list of adult friends is miniscule, and I want to change that!! Relationships and health/wellness are also my 2 biggest areas that I need to work on. I, too, had weight loss surgery and am still trying to find a balance. Thank you for another great video. You always make me smile, you have such a warm and glowing personality 🌻☀🕶
Your printable and ebook is so helpful for identifying the areas to focus on, Thank you! As for chickens... it is all pretty simple until a chicken gets sick or stops laying or is a rooster (if you can only allowed to keep hens in your city). I kept backyard chickens for 9 years and during that time i had 3 flocks. Hens have 2 good laying seasons and one okay season and then their egg production drops off, but they still take your time, attention, and resources. Having a plan for rehoming them or processing them for soup is importnat... or dedicating yourself to having them for life (7-10) years, even if most of the time they are not producing eggs. I'm glad to be past the season of raising chickens. We moved on to kitty/cat fostering afterwards and did that for 7 years (52 kittens/cats over the 7 years).. We no longer do that anymore either. We're into simplifying now.
Before getting chickens make sure you have a good spot for them, considering your backyard floods easily (and you don’t want that coop too close to the house, because noise and smell can get old fast!). As for the things I need to work on, well fitness and relationships are the ones for me too! Thanks for the tips.
Making friends is harder as we get older. Everyone has friendships established. When I moved to the States in 2002 ,I never met anyone . But I do volunteer at a mobile food market and have done for years now and made some great girl friends there. But they both have kids and it's hard for them to schedule regular meetups . Cas, if you want a new overseas friend, I'm here . Love all your content . Keep smiling .
My dad has developed this chicken fever and he’s obsessed. It’s brought him so much joy in his life and it’s brought us so many eggs lol if you have the space and the time and dedication I’d say go for it. Thank you for your videos. I’m going through a rough time rn but your videos help.
I have 4 Layer chickens. They are free range. They are work. You can never get a vacation. They need to be feed daily and they operate with the daylight hours where I live in the Caribbean. So as the sun rises and sets I have to deal with them. They do not always give eggs leaving me to work hard to try to see what is wrong now. They require constant daily attention. But I love that I get my own eggs so I feel abundant.
Same with the squirrel thing lol That’s the ADHD girl! My big focus to work on right now is my HOME! As a chronic works in progress crafter, home needs HELP lol That’s how I found The Minimal Mom and she is how I found you!
Maybe just have regular visits to chicken farms and talk to farmers about maintenence if that's a possibility for you? I also feel like if your property turns into a lake every now and then that may be dangerous for the chickens too. We had a hobby farm growing up (in Ontario) with horses, bunnies, pigs (at one point), ducks and for a brief moment we did have chickens. My mom was maintaining everything and because I was allergic to everything I just got the benefit of seeing things kinda at a distance. My mom loved the ducks that would swim in our pond, but hated the chickens and found them "dirty" in her words. Chicks are cute, but they grow up. Maybe you don't have to have everything and do all of the things. 🤷♀️ Maybe that's another way to make new friends, go to farms or petting zoos and meet new people with similar interests. Alternatively duck chicks are also really cute and ducks are beautiful. We did have lots of preditors like foxes and things come to visit and eat the ducks occasionally, but that may be another thought if you want a nice chicken substitute.
@ldmatheson quails are cute. We had friends who had those on their farm. I just worry about coops on Cas' property. I know she said it only floods once a month, but you'd have to make a shelter for them far from the flooded area and because she lives in Canada she might want to look into a heated shelter. We had a barn.
I just went back to school online. I spent 13 weeks on a Master Teacher Para Professional, an assistant to licensed Teachers. It was challenging 3 math and 10 knowledge and understanding. The math was add, subtract, multiply, divide, geometry, pre-algebra, algebra, and data analysis. There were 10-point quizzes after each module. Then the big test. By the grace of GOD, I PASSED on June 10th,2024. Now I go to a job fair on July 30th. 2024. I even told myself in the beginning if the math got too hard, I was bailing. Well, I'm glad I didn't. I just hadn't remembered or seen that math for years . The Master Teacher program teaches how to solve the problems very nicely. So I learned all the math all over again. Quite the brain challenge. :)
Yes!! Get the chickens!! We live in town and my husband thought I was nuts 2 years ago when I brought some chickens but I love them! Building the coop and the run was kind of a lot, but after that it’s definitely manageable!
I love my chickens 💕 They are so worth it. Get the chickens!!!! They are not a ton of work and they eat bugs and ticks. They bring joy. We let ours free range during the day and lock them up at night. I do not have a rooster. We got rid of our rooster and me and the hens are all happier!
Good for you. I've heard too many stories of people keeping their rooster that is either aggressive towards people or rough on the hens But they don't realize how much better it is without him. I'm very lucky to have a very chill rooster who is good with his ladies and nice to people. ❤
On the topic of money, I think it's important to note that sometimes the answer IS to increase your income, rather than cut your spending. There is literally no place in the United States where a full-time minimum wage income will afford a one-bedroom apartment. If you find that you can't afford your needs (shelter, food, clothes, medicine, utilities), then the answer isn't to figure out which of those needs you can cut, it's trying to figure out how to get more income.
This is exactly my problem... The high cost of food these days has absolutely killed my finances and I already spend way less by not buying meat, only buying what's on sale, using all the loyalty and rebate apps, etc. I need to figure out how to increase income!
We have 2 chickens. They aren’t a lot of work, but they do need consistent care. We let them out and lock them back up every day, we scan for possible issues(predators, rodents, mites), clean out the cage every week(grouse, smelly) If you don’t like eggs then I wouldn’t do it.
CHICKENS! Omg I'm with you. My fantasy self is a huge homesteader. I just keep telling myself that it's a huge lie. I have a black thumb. I know nothing about animals or food preservation. I'm on a chicken FB group, and I've seen all the sicknesses they can get; not to mention what they can do to each other if they're jealous or don't make friends... it truly is a fantasy life... in my head. And I still want it. Good luck, Cass! If you find the secret to changing your fantasy self, make a video on that, and you'll be a millionaire.
We have two adorable fluffy butt silkie chickens. (Rooster and a hen) Love! Huge organic food bag lasts almost a year! Give food scraps too. And free range some during day. They’re a hoot! Easy. Only thing is cleaning out their housing here and there. Putting new bedding (wood shavings etc) 🐓 the silkie eggs are small too. We don’t eat much eggs but usually an egg and potato Sunday brunch once or twice a month. 🥚
Covid sent my relationships into the toilet 😱. Two friends died in the first couple of years. Two friends just got Covid last week-plus a coworker of a friend’s son. I’m high risk, so I don’t go out much anymore. That being said, I’m now waiting for your ebook to fix the things that I can. 🤞😃
I have chickens. Chickens are lot of work and come with a lot of problem solving. I'm sure you'd be a wonderful chicken mama, Cas. But maybe now isn't the right time. Wish you the best!
Cas - I have chickens. Beautiful fluffy, semi useless Pekin bantams... And they're my therapy animals... Although I also have a dog, a cat and a parrot!! At the moment is chick season and I have 7 babies running around my garden and 7 more set to hatch in a few days!! They're work...but it's a joy!
This video is so helpful! Health and relationships are the areas that I need to work on. You are such an energetic sunshine! You are so funny Cass!😂😂 Thank you for making me smile and laugh. I have a chronic illness, and you have helped me feel better during my tough days. I will definitely print out your Master Your Life ebook and start to improve my life. May God bless you, Cass!😊❤
My dad had a chicken rescue. Some personal problems at home and he is being forced to get rid of some of them. It is a lot of work, but the eggs are worth it (taste better than store bought, to me). It also helps alleviate some of the stress - he can go out back and just watch the chickens roam around the yard and peck at the ground. The one downside is that his backyard doesn't have much grass anymore. If you do decide to go this route, you can always get a moveable chicken coop and move it around your yard.
I love the wheel of life. I added “Faith” to learning and growth category. I am good on Money, Romance, career and home. I am not a big money focused person and can be content whatever my situation. I want to work on faith, fitness and having more girlfriends. We could all use more fun.
So wish you lived next door!! I just love ya... I also have Adhd and am crazy pants lol. Love everything you do and so excited to see how the volunteer fire fighting goes😊
Find a friend who has chickens and spend time loving on HER chickens, maybe offering to watch her chickens and such... get a feel for it . Some people, it just makes sense and they enjoy it, others just want the experience of knowing. I feel you on the homestead, I want a homestead too... Im just not sure I could maintain all the upkeep, I can barely keep up with my home I currently own. But I dream... of the smell if freshly chopped wood, of wood burning stove, getting heirloom seed and planting them, tending the garden as sheets dry of the line in the sweet smelling wind, baking and cooking home grown food from scratch, having fresh flowers from my own garden, drinking hot coffee and watching the sun rise from my porch swing or rocking chair... all of it. I WANT ALL OF IT!!! But, realistically, I could probably do a little bit of each, get a taste of it and if I think its something I could do long term... then see if I could incorporate it into our lifestyle. Dream BIG but start small. ❤
Hi ! I've known your channel for a few days and, well, better late than never 😅. Obviously, we have a few things in common, including being a mother with ADHD and we were both diagnosed late (which I understood by watching a few videos but I may be wrong). I am 42 years old and was diagnosed only a year and a half ago. What opposes us is that you are a queen of tidying up and organization while I have chaos in my life and in my house. 😆 Seeing someone like you gives me hope and motivation💪. I tell myself that your tips and tricks will surely suit me much more than all the tidying gurus on UA-cam. So I will watch your videos religiously, take note and try to adapt it to my home. Many thanks for sharing this.❤ Big hug from a little French woman.😊
We have quite a bit of pets at our house I would say chickens land somewhere in between the amount of work it takes to have 2 dogs vs the chinchillas. They arent quite as much work as the dogs but they still require work. I would say about 45 minutes a day (divided morning and night) for my chickens plus I let them roam around with me while I do things outside whether thats playing with my kid or yard work. Then about an hour and half once a week to clean and reset their home, give them new things to play with/on and plan out their treats. Also maybe 30 minutes a week to meal prep/plan their extras to their feed like veggies/fruit/ sourdough bread occasionally. Their food actually adds up lol. I would say dont get a pet unless you are 100% commited haha.
I'll be your bestie 😁 I had the idea the other day that it would be soooooooo cool to do an organizing collab with you, but I haven't started my biz yet, haha. Starting is scary and I still need to finish your Professional Organizer course, but trying to talk myself up to keep moving forward. Cheers to slow and steady progress! 😅
Chickens are definitely the easiest homesteading/ farm animal to take care of. We currently have 14 and are about to get almost 20 more 😬 but I love it. They bring me so much joy, and my toddler loves helping with them. I’ve named them all too 😅
I have a different issue than just dishes and laundry. That I enjoy . I have an attachment to my families things who have passed or they are giving stuff away before they die . I am kinda a homesteader prepper , chickens and food growing . I have an adult son with limited skills on the Autism spectrum . He helps me clear things because if he don’t like something it gets tossed . I have a husband who retired , that’s a topic no one talks about . He also has cancer and has had 3 surgeries , my two other sons moved in and three grandchildren my grand daughter has spina bifida and is going to need a kidney she has daily care and my Pomeranian was just diagnosed with mega esophagus so she is hand fed . I have myotonic dystrophy .You can really help me out if you did shorts of decluttering you could body double with me, doing daily chores and the quick clear the fridge or the quick kids room etc. and also not feel so alone , it would be so nice to have a play list do you have this on your collaboration to get your house in order ? And is it accessible even though I missed the sale promotion ? Do you know of anyone that does ?
😂💜 Honorable mention: have the damn cereal for dinner and pass out on the couch like a teenager if you need to! 🙏✨ My first goals are health and money. This year has been the f-ing pits for both. I'm finally on an antidepressant that works, but the time getting to that point this year was hell in my mouth. I hope I get to keep my teeth. The money one is somewhat easier. Started a new job this past weekend, and I want to get out of the little bit of debt I'm in.
We have chickens. 28 laying hens, another 29 hens that will start laying in the fall, 12 turkey chicks, 17 ducks, and about a dozen heritage broiler chickens, most of which will be kept for raising more broilers of our own. Chicks are a little tough to begin with, but once they hit about 2-3 months old, they're crazy easy to take care of -- especially if you just get a few and they remain in a coop. We free-range, and only shut them in at night, which is working well for us in our rural situation. We have a large family, and we set up a roadside stand at the end of our driveway to sell eggs ( and extra garden produce).
I’m starting to just be my own best friend and only have me in my head. Have to work on health and money. Been concentrating on mental health for about 8yrs and I’ve completely changed my mindset. Loving appreciating my home for the first time. ❤
LOVED this video! I need to rewatch periodically. Nothing earth-shattering we all don’t already know or that isn’t obvious, but it’s so helpful to have it laid out in sections to remind us to give attention to each area. And I wish you were my friend! We’d have a blast together 😊
I do all the home things everyday x10. I spend 2-4 hours a day on household tasks and my home is still a lot. But I have 6 kids and 2 destructive toddlers. I would love to find help in a process without over simplifying it. I already do all the things mentioned. Dishes multiple times a day. Multiple loads of laundry a day. Kids and I 15 minute tidy multiple times a day etc.
Ah, Life coaching pie charts. I never really enjoyed using this type of chart (I am a certified life coach). Loved seeing your family pictures! Aw. Are you really a hair twirler?? I also tell people to search out clubs and groups. They exist! I am in a workout group with other moms, and it is fun! I have other groups I am in too that have to do with my passions and interests. I hope you are able to find people you can connect with. It is said that most women struggle to make new friends. Loved what you said on finances! So good! I love that you said that things rewire your brain. I have been telling people how rewiring is so possible and attainable, and I love that you used the term too. Hope you have many people who use your big five!
P.S. If you have chickens, you will have to do a lot of initial work. My brother had 5 chickens (one recently passed) and he goes home at a certain time every day to feed them and care for them as if they are his children. He doesn't go on vacations because he wants to care for them, which I think he can find someone to watch them without an issue. I think chickens are great for saving money on eggs, but if you can't keep up with keeping the coop clean and having the ability to not obsess over them, while being okay to hire someone to care for them if you go away, then go for it.
I am a small scale homesteader and chickens are fun, healthy for your body but man they are a lot of work! Research, research and research some more. I have a post if you are interested in reading on What we wish we knew before we got our chickens. I won’t post a link because I don’t want to take away your thunder but they also get sick. Just a thought. I still love mine but sometimes I blame myself when they die…
Chickens are great. I fell in love. I have to say it's a lot of work. Really think if you have the time. Depending on where you live you may have to consider their safety. There are always predators. Really think it over.
You are hilarious and easy to relate with. I am a huge hobby hopper myself. I love your content and am so eager to print out your wheel worksheet. Let’s see how far I can get before seeing the “squirrel” and then remembering that I left it on the printer.🤪 You help me keep on keepin’ on. 🖨️🤗🐿️ Thanks sooo, sooooo much.💓 Your friend in fun😉, Holly 👋
Cas in my city there are wild chickens roaming everywhere. Every house on my street discovered a chicken roosting on their trees, and those went on to reproduce more chickens...so to us they're like stray cats or pigeons. They're just there. And some of us take them in and build them a coop in our backyard. 🙂
Hi cas diy donna here love the video great one i need this one thank you for sharing with us My neighbors, they have chickens. They're older their sisters. They don't hardly miss with them. They go out and collect their eggs. That's it
I have chickens and I love them! ❤️❤❤ I use them to make compost for my garden but there's something about chickens that's just down right sociable. Mine will follow me around the garden when they are allowed out. They have such cool characters. You were saying you wanted to make a new friend... chickens make great friends 😁
Chicken mom here! We love our feathery dinosaurs!! We built our chicken coop from our kids' old playset and random finds. It was expensive to make it predator proof, but obviously very important! We researched and researched. I took an online class on chicken keeping, which is part of our city's permit process. I honestly think that everyone who can have chickens should! That being said, it's a hobby that isn't for the faint of heart. There are some daily tasks, but most of the bigger tasks are seasonal. I love your videos! I can see you with chickens!! And their eggs will taste better than any you've tried! Chanticleers are a breed that do well in Canada! 🍀
most of my novelty craving is satisfied by trying out a new recipe once in a while. i always see something and go for weeks "i will soon cook this, i am so excited", and buy the ingredients and eat some of them and buy them again.
Hi Cassandra ! Thank you for the e-book and this video that presents it well. :) Forget about the chickens ! It is a lot of work, messy, smelly, not fun to clean up and not worth it especially if you don't like eggs ! Plant some organic flowers and enjoy the wild bees and birds and butterflies build a bee hotel and bird houses, all kind of natural shelters for small animals and let them feed themselves out of your garden. That way, you can enjoy them but will not have extra work to do nor money to spend on food. If you want to see or pet cute animals, go visit a neighbour or a farm once in a while.
Watching you run, walk, skip and lunge up and down the road made my soul happy! The footage deserves to be made into jolly little gifs! I've been decluttering for the past week, alternating between yours and minimal mom's videos to keep me motivated. Thank you for all the virtual support - sending appreciation from Sunny England 🙂
Wow, loved this video ❤ I totally relate to the constant churning of obsessively wanting to get/ try something, I think it's linked with our ADHD brain, and yes, my partner gets dragged along kicking and screaming too 😂 As for the chickens, I do have Chooks, they're great, but they will destroy your gardens / lawns if they have any access to them,
My physical health is so hard. After many many years of terrible mental health I finally this year have the right combination of medication and support. I feel amazing. But I sleep 16 hours a day at least 4 days a week. I'm so tired all the time! I need to do things like exercise and eat better. But I'm so weak and tired lol. It's so hard. I get up and do stuff awake one whole day. Then sleep for the next 3 days. I'm so happy. But I'm not productive at all. In any way. This is my big focus at the minute. How to stay awake 3 hours more each day.
Identity, I am a 3 year old toddler, when I am overwhelmed.🫣🙄 I have Autism and Dementia. Right now, I am down with chronic pain. 🥴🥹 ❣️Thank you for such a wonderful video like always ❣️ Most of your videos are so motivating ❣️🥰
Great video, oh and I totally would love to be your friend - you are awesome, I love your humour, ADHD tips, organisation, decluttering really excites me and I help friends with these things - you are so relatable 😃
Happy world environment day ! 🌏 This is a good day for me to reset . What do i want to show up in the world and create/support? Eudiamonia over happiness is good too.
I have nothing but gratitude for you. You are like my therapist. Thank you for being real and being there. I love how real you are. I can so identify with you. ❤❤❤❤
I thought about chickens once also but when I considered the cost all in, it’s not cheap and it is ongoing. Proper feed, good nesting, vet, constant care and maintenance. Seasonal extras etc. etc.. plus just because you get some eggs doesn’t men they are always good to eat. After consideration I decided to “leave it to the experts” all around on that one. Thank-you for sharing all you do. You are an inspiration and a joy. Great work.
I have chickens and I love them. Once you get your home for them, they just need daily feed and water. Clean the coop when needed, depending on how many you have.
I totally agree! I’ve seen so many negative comments about her getting chickens and I disagree. I got mine a few months ago and I find them rather easy to take care of and like you said, once you get your coop setup, it’s pretty easy from there! I have 4 white chickens and 2 silkies and I love my silkies! I find them to be a lot cleaner than the others too!
I am a homesteader (off-grid in NE Arizona). There's doing some homesteading stuff on a hobby level that's awesome and relatively easy, but homesteading as a lifestyle is the opposite of easy. The simple life is pretty darn complicated, turns out. Only raise livestock that you really enjoy. As backyard animals, they will require pet levels of care and fastidious cleanliness for the sake of the neighbors. If you breed them, you have to realize that there has to be a chicken exit route somehow in your system. Half of the hatchlings will be cockerels. Egg production slows down, so are your laying hens lifetime pets, or production livestock with a freezer in their future?

but I had hens and they are hard work - and they die easily which made me stressed.
And chickens can be MEAN!
OMG your comment just cracked me up! ''just go visit a friend with chickens!'' hahahahahahha so funny! I was laughing out loud!
Chickens are cute and if you watch them run it is hilarious 😂
I'm divorced and a mother of three young boys. I work full time as an assistant nurse and some days I just feel overwhelmed with,, life. I just wanted to write and tell you that your videos help me so much. Your positive energy and attitude is contagious. Thank you for that. Love from Sweden ❤
you've got it! ✨️And you don't have to be the perfect mother all the time❤🍀✨️🤗
If you don't particularly like eggs or chickens, then what you really need is a friend that has chickens. That way, when you visit your friend you can also get your chicken fix at the same time.
perfect!! .. or the farmers market... fresh eggs last when not put in the fridge
Right! Start out as the chicken-aunty!
when I meet people I don't ask them what do they do, I ask what brings you joy in life.
What a blessing you are. We had old friends over for dinner last year and she asked me 3 times well is that all you do? Being a wife, Mom, business owner was not enough in her book. I felt so judged. Needless to say I felt attacked and hurt. Thank you for your inspirational view.
I like this. ❤

Adulting is hard. You can say that again. When we're kids, we all want to be adults, and then we are adults we want to be kids again.

I found out the hard way that very few people join groups and classes alone so it still makes it very challenging to make friends in those spaces. People don't go there to make friends, they go to spend time with their friends taking part in something.
Perfect opportunity to join an existing friend group!
@@72dodge340Oh, sure. Remember cliques in high school? This is worse.
I found this as well unfortunately and being in my 40s I find others are set in their friendships and not eager to make new one’s 🤷♀️
@@ashpsw33 Same. I'm just shy of my 50th birthday, and finding friends seems next to impossible.
Maybe volunteer? animal shelters? food centers?
the coop isnt enough, you also need an enclosure for the coop to stop predators.
AND a yard that doesn't flood (unless chickens are coming inside during the storm vs drowning). NO CHICKENS CAS.. your plate is plenty full imo🚫🐤🚫🐥🚫
Also, the yard floods every time it rains, so you need a high dry place for them.

Love this comment! Even if Cass doesn't read this comment, it was just what I needed to hear. Thank you!!
The hair twirl while fake talking on the phone. LOL!
Without our health the other areas are even more tough to deal with. It took me a longtime to get this. Fortunately I still have my health.
SOOO FABULOUS!!
Thanks!! The first thing I
thought of was her yard FLOODING!!! Chickens are so much work!!
I was pretty light on friends, so I joined 2 local writers groups. Now I have so many friends, and it's so much fun. So I think the doc 's recommendation is perfect.
I volunteered for sea turtle rescue plus time at the grade school... definitely met some awesome people! Love the writers group idea!!
It's so likely that you will not even read this message, but maybe I just need to write it down for it to become a reality.
I have everything I've been asking for in my marriage, my kids my home, my work (from home) my salary (other than my home and car, I am debt free)
With all that said, I am feeling very alone, can't find anything to do in the area yet, and can't find someone to do it with, like a gym partner, or a craft buddy, or someone that will take a walk with me during the day.
I am SUPER thankful for everything I do have, and at the risk of sounding like I am complaining, this is something I truly need.
I believe that having a "buddy" will motivate me to do more things, other than work.

I sincerely believe that with everything you do and work (which is incredible), this is a lot of extra work 😅 in my humble opinion perhaps taking it all more relaxed during your free time would perhaps be better, for now 💛🙂
🚫🐤🌊
She lives out in the country so I doubt that’ll be an issue. I have chickens and I find them rather easy to take care of and after you get the coop and I initial stuff, it’s pretty inexpensive to take care of them! Especially compared to other animals like cats or dogs.
@@michelletennyson8535 She lives in Canada 😅 and me too, you are probably american, but I written that because I am in the same country 🇨🇦
How annoying. The noise would drive me crazy.
I feel like you should film yourself doing funky walks every day. 😂 That clip was fantastic.
You’ve really helped me so much 🤗
Come live in Connecticut! We could be great friends, I think. You make me smile.
How about flying us Canada for a slumber party?😄
I have found that church is the place to make friends. It also gives a place of service, and an identity.
Before getting chickens make sure you have a good spot for them, considering your backyard floods easily (and you don’t want that coop too close to the house, because noise and smell can get old fast!). As for the things I need to work on, well fitness and relationships are the ones for me too! Thanks for the tips.
Just say no ... to chickens! 🚫🐥
Thanks for sharing!
Same with the squirrel thing lol
That’s the ADHD girl!
My big focus to work on right now is my HOME! As a chronic works in progress crafter, home needs HELP lol
That’s how I found The Minimal Mom and she is how I found you!
Yes! Or quails
I get to wanting chickens too. When I visit my neighbors coop at the time to clean, it cures me ;-)
This is very true, you are right. The cost of everything has gone up so much, but wages aren't even close to matching that.

Change is VERY hard! Wonderful tips, thank you!
So wish you lived next door!! I just love ya... I also have Adhd and am crazy pants lol. Love everything you do and so excited to see how the volunteer fire fighting goes😊
Congrats Cas! Nice work! Great content! Great job! Smile and be HAPPY! ❤😊
Seeing someone like you gives me hope and motivation💪.
I tell myself that your tips and tricks will surely suit me much more than all the tidying gurus on UA-cam. So I will watch your videos religiously, take note and try to adapt it to my home. Many thanks for sharing this.❤
Big hug from a little French woman.😊
You're welcome!
Happy to be your friend any day, any time! Love your funny quirky and honest videos! Hugs 🤗
Love that!
Hi Cass. I have buff bantam cochin chickens as pets. They are small and cute and they don’t lay many eggs. They have been such a joy so far
Thank you for this Ebook. I am an empty nester and trying to figure out my life now. Perfect timing! 🙂💗
You are so welcome!
Good to know.
Let’s see how far I can get before seeing the “squirrel” and then remembering that I left it on the printer.🤪
You help me keep on keepin’ on. 🖨️🤗🐿️
Thanks sooo, sooooo much.💓
Your friend in fun😉,
Holly 👋
I love that!
Thanks for sharing!
Hi Cassandra !
Thank you for the e-book and this video that presents it well. :)
Forget about the chickens !
Thanks for sharing!
Same here!😂🏃🏼♀️
I simply adore you.
Yes. Ego integrity is so important.
Aw, thanks!
I've had chickens , to much work Cas !!!
Wow, loved this video ❤
I totally relate to the constant churning of obsessively wanting to get/ try something, I think it's linked with our ADHD brain, and yes, my partner gets dragged along kicking and screaming too 😂
As for the chickens, I do have Chooks, they're great, but they will destroy your gardens / lawns if they have any access to them,
My physical health is so hard.
I love the Flylady system too❤
Identity, I am a 3 year old toddler, when I am overwhelmed.🫣🙄 I have Autism and Dementia. Right now, I am down with chronic pain. 🥴🥹
❣️Thank you for such a wonderful video like always ❣️ Most of your videos are so motivating ❣️🥰
Great video, oh and I totally would love to be your friend - you are awesome, I love your humour, ADHD tips, organisation, decluttering really excites me and I help friends with these things - you are so relatable 😃
Happy world environment day ! 🌏
This is a good day for me to reset . What do i want to show up in the world and create/support?
Eudiamonia over happiness is good too.
I have nothing but gratitude for you. You are like my therapist. Thank you for being real and being there. I love how real you are. I can so identify with you. ❤❤❤❤
You are so welcome!
Thank you for the printable! Just printed it. 😊👍
Cass, you are the best! Always happy to see a new video from you.
Ok
Soo looking at your circle. I’m a one in all aspects. 😢
I love your take on things. Still feel incredibly overwhelmed
Great work.
You're so welcome!
I find them to be a lot cleaner than the others too!
thanks for the ebook
