From Ontario Canada, I worked in the Heavy Equipment industry for 42 years as a Mechanic and retired as a College professor. Now I cut grass at Golf Course and during the winter I cut fire wood for a good friend on his farm. I see that you took care of a item on the honey do list. Great to see all the new growth in your area, we are not there yet.
It would be nice to see the family photo that Melissa requested for Mothers Day, don't forget the dogs. Hunter, just one picture with the family please.

I lost the ability to do what you do with one fall. Disabled now. I have worked as mechanical repair for shirt and hard wood flooring companies. I have worked construction and worked for a city operating motor grader and other equipment. I have operated a dozer and love heavy equipment. I worked 11 years in law enforcement. That is why I now watch you and others work outdoors. You help me mentally and I thank you for it. If you can imagine losing the ability to go do the things you enjoy. How to cope with it. My meds give me some relief from pain but it never stops. I use a walker now and can't lift or pull on things anymore. I tell you my short story to remind everyone not to take life for granted. God bless and always be thankful.

I am wrapping up my second career. I served in the Army as a military intelligence analyst and retired in 1998. I currently hold a position within the Department of Veterans affairs as Unified Communications supervisor. I plan to retire from the VA in May of 2020. For the past 18 years I have been building what some would call a modern homestead. I built my home in 2003, we raise all are own livestock and vegetables. Our equipment is a lot like yours, we have a Mahindra 2255 which is basically the same tractor as the RK55. For tractor accessories we have a backhoe, loader, forks, bucket, grader blade, snowplow, 6' bush hog, wood max 990 wood chipper, Frostbite grapple, Wallenstein logging wench, and a Wallenstein 236 wood processor. We also have a Polaris Ranger 6X6, an old Case 1816 skid steer I rebuilt last year, I also just bought a Norwood LM29 sawmill that I haven't finished assembling yet (maybe this weekend). Our plan is to provide a place for all our kids to move back to the homestead and build a home here, one of them has all ready bone that, the other two are working toward it. We would like to give our house to one of them and the wife and I could travel North America for a few years in a camper, just turn the whole place over to the boys and their families.

Retired Furnace Melter Operator for a steel company in Canada . 35 years of working shifts . Never new what it was like to be off on holidays such as Christmas or New Years . Operated the first Basic Oxygen Furnaces that were in North America . Graduated to run the twin Electric Arc Furnaces which were installed later until I retired . Was proud to be only a handful of people in a company of 13,000 that actually made steel . One day I pulled into the parking lot and said to myself that I have had enough of this shift work . Retired 3 months later at the ripe old age of 53 . Now I do what I want , when I want and how I want . Cancer survivor for 18 years . I'm one of the lucky ones . God was on my side this time . I don't sweat the small stuff any more . Life is good .

Hi Mike, I really enjoy your videos. I spent 15 years in the Canadian Army as a Combat Engineer, and 10 years in the Canadian Airforce as a SAR Tech which is much like your U.S Airforce PJs. I currently live in Ontario and commute to work in Newfoundland working a 3 week rotation for Cougar Helicopters as a Rescue Specialist which provides Search And Rescue to the off shore oil industry. I gain a lot of information from your videos which I then apply to projects around my cottage up North. Keep up the good work.

As a result I now have a career at the University of Maine In Orono long commute but enjoying the challenges. Enjoy your videos thanks for mentioning Bucking Billy Ray man knows how to drop a tree. By the way Mike do use wood heat in your home and if so what kind of stove or boiler? Personally still burning 6 to 8 cords a winter for the old homestead can't beat it warms you up more than once and beats going to the gym. Like you I am blessed with a very nice live partner who helps in all chores works out everyday and is a full time nurse. We are blessed and Mothers day is one of the ways we can show our appreciation take care and have a day!

Love your videos...Thanks for asking about us. I'm a retired engineer (electrical engineer and engineering management) and professor. Started in electronics in the Air Force in '64 and went to college with the help of the GI bill. Linda (also retired professor food science and nutrition) and I live on a small place south of College Station, Texas where we met and went to college at Texas A&M University. While I love your videos and have great respect for your RK family of stuff, we are pretty much a John Deere House. I have owned a 65 hp tractor (got to be too much trouble to hook up with my bad back...bending over the pto with the heavy coupler and shaft was too much.) then a 25 hp 1026R (nice with back hoe, but needed to add a grapple and would have to do a bunch of after market mods) so traded for a 46 hp JD 3046R...about the same as your midsize RK I think. Has grapple, hydraulic top and tilt, box blade, blade, land plane (which I learned about from you) grapple, post hole digger, tiller, fence mower and sprayer. She is equipped with an air ride seat to protect my back and it works well... We call her Goldie...just the right size. Lately I've been doing a bunch of road maintenance, tree cutting and moving with grapple and disassembling an old camp site. She also does a great job of taking out the trash in the frame I built for the cans...
I mow about 8 acres of "yard" but it is really close pasture that we keep short to prevent problems with snakes and fire around the house. The mower is a John Deere ZTrak 930M Zero turn with suspension seat (again, protecting the back...and it does a great job.) Ill try to post some pics, but my Facebook page is doc.tom.talley ...
We reached the age where we had to decide what to do about moving to town or staying. We have had an RV and didn't want to have to keep up with that any more, but we both like the country. Room for antennas as a ham radio operator and a place to put the barn full of equipment...(by the way...the Gator is hers...!) She uses it to supervise me when we go on pothole patrol.
Thanks again for going to all the trouble to make the videos...They are an inspiration. I'm very tired today from riding Goldie...
