@cunaeus22 Yeah! I can watch it over and over again, and still laugh even though I know what's coming. Dreyfuss' performance was perfection, as was Murray's. I loved this movie as a kid (now in my 40s), own it on VHS, DVD (even bought a second back up DVD), but sadly it was never released on Blu-Ray. In my early 20s I read rumors online that Dreyfuss and Murray didn't get along on set, which was kinda sad to hear, but in a weird way made their characters relationship and their performances even more interesting. In recent years, Dreyfuss said in a video interview that Bill Murray, while drunk, threw a half pound ash tray at his head, but missed, then screamed "You Are Tolerated!" in his face. Dreyfuss in the interview called Murray a "Drunk Irish Bully." The director, Frank Oz (Fozzie Bear, Yoda, Miss Piggy, Bert, Cookie Monster, Grover, the list goes on and on) rarely talks about/brings the film up in interviews. I also have wondered if this is why the DVD was a movie only release. No director commentary, cast interviews, making of documentaries, retrospectives, etc, which I LOVE. Also, maybe why never released on Blu-Ray.

Yep, and the entire press is in the hands of just a tiny handful of obviously like minded individuals through corporate ownership. The real problem is they can decide candidates and election results through press manipulation of misinformation and disinformation thus controlling and dictating government. It needs to be busted up into hundreds of smaller owned entities. The founders never dreamed of this power scenario and allowed the citizens no protection against it.

Civic duty refers to the responsibilities and obligations of citizens to engage in activities that contribute to the well-being and functioning of their community and society. This includes voting, obeying laws, serving on juries, paying taxes, and participating in public service or community activities. Civic duty is essential for the maintenance of democratic governance and societal cohesion.

They cut this so people will think none of it happened. This is AFTER nearly half the people walked out. A LOT of people were disgusted and they have every right to be. I'm sure plenty other old white conservatives love it though.
The comment about civics is wrong. I had a civics class in 7th grade, and it's still taught here in VA, where I live and teach. I was waiting to hear the "offensive remarks." The trans kids thing is a relatively new phenomenon. It hasn't been going on long enough on a large scale for anyone to definitively say that "a very small %" of them "regret it." And there's some haggling from both sides of the aisle as to what that percentage actually is. People who support the transitioning of minors say it's less than a percent and those who oppose it seem to suggest it's closer to 10%. To me, the fact that anyone thinks that it's acceptable for a 10 year old to transition is simply out of their mind and should not be listened to. It's psychotic.

I live about 3 miles away. This area of the North Shore (Beverly, Danvers, Peabody, Salem) is quickly gentrifying and is heavily marketed as inclusive by the business owners, politicians, and transplanted yuppies. That's a scam. If you're poor, disabled, a senior, a non-white immigrant, homeless or working class you're being priced out and aren't really welcome. The politicians and a good percentage of the yuppies in this area call themselves progressive and liberal until you try to move next door, send your kids to their charter schools, or dare to be critical about the tourism nightmare that descends every year on the area, especially in October. They use a facade of inclusiveness to lure people here to spend money. They don't really care about LGTBQ+ folks or any other marginalized or oppressed groups. If you don't believe me, look up the forced relocation Salem's nearly all-Democrat City Council just approved where they are essentially outlawing homelessness that involves any type of tent or similar structure and are planning to relocate those unhoused people up to 15-20 miles away for shelter beds. While property owners are viciously fighting the building of new affordable housing and desperately needed expansion and renovation of the one homeless shelter in town. Yeah, real inclusive. And before you assume I'm supporting Dreyfuss, I'm not. I have been voting Democrat for 31 years.

We watch it about twice a year for the pure therapeutic value.
That and groundhog day man.

Well, of course he has the right… but this event was supposed to be about the Jaws and feeling good. It was absolutely not the time and place to make offending comments, and certainly not about women who gave the half of his audience. The homophobic stuff was also bad , coming from an actor, bc we all know in theatric and film/artists circles lgbtq people used to have more freedom a long time ago to just be who they are.
This whole thing was messy and insensitive.

Yeah. He rocks.
Thank you Richard, all the outrage over this show is so lame!
Was hoping to hear some of the "controversial" things Dreyfuss supposedly said. Love to know what he said about Streisand (I think I would have enjoyed it). I did read that he blamed parents of trans kids for letting them transition at such a young age. He claimed some would regret it (a very small % do). I think that is a family decision but understand his pov. Too bad no one uploaded anything (or did they and did UA-cam take it down?).

Richard comes on stage in dress dancing to Taylor Swift. Questions are asked about his career. Eventually he is asked about his work with Barbera Streisand where he ventured into snide sexist comments about how she was stubborn to work with because she is a woman who should be submissive. Crowd reacts negatively. Interviewer instigates by asking Richard his views on #MeToo (I believe this was scripted so he could soapbox his opinions) where he describes it as "the people who make me vomit". Crowd reacts negatively. Richard continues by mentioning his negative views on LGBT+ people, specifically mentions "10 year olds who want to change their gender". Crowd reacted very negatively and boos, one man in particular towards the middle/front shouted out and Richard bickered back from the stage. About a 3rd of the theater up and left, with someone near me in the balcony yelled out "See ya later grandpa!" There was also a woman in the back left the balcony heckling quite loudly whenever Richard made his rude/ sexist remarks (I believe she was eventually escorted out after his anti lgbt+ speel). The trans kids thing is a relatively new phenomenon.
@@captainbeastazoid7084 I agree with most of what you wrote. But you did waste my time with your first sentence, which deserves a big "Duh!" for being amazingly obvious. I agree that no one under age 13 should be able to have any surgery regarding their "gender". But what is the right age? Is it 14, 16 or18? I'm not sure, am not an expert and don't have kids.
"WOKENESS"🤔 refers to a contemporary ideology rooted in Critical Theory, race, and identity politics, often infused with elements of Marxism, which emphasizes a hierarchical view of victim-hood and collective identity. This ideology tends to prioritize group identities over individual agency, leading to an overemphasis on identity categories such as race, gender, and sexual orientation. Critics argue that "wokeness" fosters a culture of victim-hood, promotes intolerance towards differing viewpoints (commonly known as "cancel culture"), and undermines the principles of individualism and meritocracy. Furthermore, it is often associated with policies and practices that prioritize diversity over qualifications, potentially leading to reverse discrimination and the devaluation of excellence and achievement.

There was also a woman in the back left the balcony heckling quite loudly whenever Richard made his rude/ sexist remarks (I believe she was eventually escorted out after his anti lgbt+ speel). Interviewer steered it back on track, but the evening was totally soured. More insight about his career followed by nonsense tangents until finishing with shilling for his new book about the apparent removal of civics from school systems.
I did not stay for the movie as the entire mood was ruined for me and left as soon as he was done on stage. I can watch jaws at home
@@Jormyyy Thank you for the update.
Who dat?
But...But The Narrative tells me everyone was offended. I missed that part.
I'm in the middle of all this ... Honestly not a day goes by where I think about ending it ... And I'm not sure when it started but its gotten real bad ... And I'm not even sure why .... Meaning I'll be 55 in a month and I DON;T KNOW WHO THE HELL I AM .... SOMEONE PUT SOME CHEMICAL IN A DRINK ...
No one cares

I guess I missed the controversy.
You go Richie! Bring on the base!

He's old. When you're old you say offensive comments. It's part of the deal.
"Oh, its just Richard being Richard. He's harmless. Take him back to the care home."
🤭
He is clearly not all together there anymore.. Take a look at his eyes, he has dead eyes. Like a doll's eyes.

why did cnn spin this as negative booing?? all i heard was cheering.
I was there! I'm going to condense it as to not write an essay. Also note the audio quality at this show was terrible so some specifics he said were lost due to being overpowered by the crowd.
Richard continues by mentioning his negative views on LGBT+ people, specifically mentions "10 year olds who want to change their gender". the "triggered generation" got offended and triggered. i wonder if they find that offensive and triggering.
SIGMA Richard Dreyfuss
Deserves a standing ovation
For putting women down? Surely you are a chauvinist.
Hey America, Americans are allowed to have different opinions, and are Free to agree to disagree!!!!, Sounds to me that a large majority of the crowd that were present, they seemed to have agreed with his comments in a very enthusiastic way!!!, and if there were a few people present that didn't like it, oh well, Get over it!!!, or not!!!!
