He will definitely see an upgrade in competition going to BC. We will have a much better take on this pick after two years playing for BC. I do like the pick!
Not your average big man (ie like Tage; his fave player). Gotta love those scouting reports describing his athleticism...hands, skating, etc. He hasn't even started college, yet. And he's done everything right...OK, brilliant...up 'till now. What's not to like? Oh, I know. He's not ready, now. Oh, well. That's how ya get guys like this.
Just adding that the Ullmark trade might be mentioned a lot in the future if Dean flourishes in Boston. And why shouldn't he? He'll be at BC and will be hard to miss at his size. Nothing like playing in a city that grew you up and cheered you on all the way.
They all said that we reached with pasta too, I think we nailed the pick personally big centreman, and will continue to grow and get stronger, this pick makes our trade with Ottawa that much better
Saw some highlights. Kid can wheel. He's got hands and he's fast. He's awesome breaking the neutral zone which we don't have enough of. Saw him motoring from the d zone into the offensive end with power. He's good defensively too. Great bsckchecking. Good at stealing the puck in the neutral zone as well. Problem is He's a prep school kid, hopefully he don't have that prep school curse
finally a great pick sweeney! the best pick at that 25th slot, the most upside.kid who could be another jean beliveau!boston college a great choice and might be here in a few years and i found out about him on this channel!stoked!!!
Actually, if you look at how many of Sweeney's draft picks have made it to the NHL, he is top 5 in NHL. Too many folks focusing solely on first round but we all know quality NHLers can be found in every round and Sweeney among the best if you look at the stats.
I had a feeling he was guna be the Bruins pick!? Hopefully he can translate his game to nhl in next couple seasons!!? If he pans out he could have huge upside!? Hopefully he will be Tage Thompson 2.0!!?🤞
Just makes me nervous because Greentree was still on the board. Hoping we didn’t reach too far with this kid…but who knows we may have gotten a steal 😂
I liked greentree but we really need centres and where his weight and height are he’ll probably be killer on face offs when he does get the chance to be in Boston he’ll probably be here in 2 years, I think if he can keep progressing he will be that future stud centre
Are Boston fans tired of watching some of these "projects" unfold to another team's delight? How else does a team touch a player who has all of the tools, etc.? Would it have been better to tank for a season in the right draft and go for some other project? 🙃
Calm down with that bro. Lindros was a generational talent. Top 3 in the world when he was healthy with Mario and Jagr at the time but was also a dominant physical force.
@@buckwing6743 Brett Lindros wouldn't been drafted at all if it wasn't for his brother and daddy that lobbied to teams to drafted the other untalented sibling.
If this kid comes anywhere close to having some Tage Thompson skills, the B's will have done themselves well with this pick. Pretty much got him where most projections had him placed: towards the end of Round One. People have to slow their roll in thinking he's a bruiser being that tall. He's not. Maybe never will. Early in his career with the Bruins, Blake Wheeler was fried for not being physical enough for some. Later on with the Jets, he was as rugged as anyone on that club. Let's see how Letourneau develops against tougher competition.
The announcers were saying he doesn’t bring enough toughness. If that’s true then this was a waste. Without the toughness in this league, you’re not going to win. I hope I’m wrong.
@@Bruins-vq5ey He's going to B.C. best case scenario is he's a monster for 2 seasons then goes to Providence for 1 year. That's best case scenario is 3 years from now. It's much more likely he plays 3-4 years in college and 1-2 years in Providence. 4-6 years.
Do you have a crystal ball? This kid is 17 (or 18) yo! How do you know where he will be in 2-3 years? Take a deep breath and wait a few years. Then pass judgement.
Any player that makes it to NHL was a good pick. Thank you for pointing that out. If you think that most late first round picks turn out to be top six forwards or top 4 D, you are waaaay overestimating vast majority of late first first round picks. Yes, you can and probably will give a few examples of late first round stars but for each of those, I will give you 10 first round failures. The goal is for picks, whether first or last round, to make it to NHL. If one looks at Sweeney's stats, he is top 5 in NHL for picks making it to NHL. A draft pick simply making it to NHL should be viewed as successful pick. Florida also proved draft possibly overrated. Only THREE players on Panther roster were original FL draft picks.
Think they wanted the guy Utah moved up to get right in front of him. Also going to BC is going to put more pressure on him. If he starts slow in BC he will get trashed.
I'd take another Joe Thornton in a heartbeat. And so wouldn't a lot of teams. Interestingly, my concern when I started digging into this was that the Bruins- when the time arrives -would not go the same route, as they did with Joe (because they were "afraid" of what they might have to pay him). However, that they paid Pasta has me believing that they've turned that corner.
Another sweeney screw up. This guy put up points playing in a garbage league. Wasnt even a 1st round pick. U had liam greentree available and u blew it. Thats twice this week for sweeney. I cant wait for mondays waste of 23 million
Actually, if you look at the facts....number of picks who make it to the NHL, Sweeney top 5 in NHL. Be my guest to look it up. Sadly, many folks shortsighted and look solely at first round. Gotte look at entire draft. Skill found in each round.
Excellent pick for 25.
He will definitely see an upgrade in competition going to BC. We will have a much better take on this pick after two years playing for BC. I do like the pick!
6ft, 7in Center, 120 pts. Wow. Luv he is playing Hockey East with BC. Let's see if his size at Center works at this level. Luv him as a Wing too.

This is the guy I wanted them to take ever since the got the 25th pick for Ullmark.

This guy is amazing
Finally something that makes sense. Congratulations 👏

If dean takes the proper steps he’ll be in Boston next year for sure in 2 years

Hard to say how this pick will go, love his size but what will he do in a real league. Would have been nice to see him in the WHL etc..
Loved the pick 💛🖤
Just waiting for the firing Sweeney presser
If he drops the gloves huge plus also
The Bruins took a bigger version of Eric Lindros. Letourneau will be in the NHL in two years because he will be strong enough to compete with men
Lol
Calm down with that bro. Lindros was a generational talent. Top 3 in the world when he was healthy with Mario and Jagr at the time but was also a dominant physical force.
More like brett lindros😂

He looks like a good pick. Something to look forward to in 2030!
How'd you become a Bruins fan?

I love this pick
Also leaving the only 1st rd pick from 15 still on the team to get away and get nothing in return........... means Bruins are going into rebuild mode
I wish I could skate half as fast as you talk. What’s the hurry?
TRES Cool!
4-5 years down the road this pick might turn into something. Maybe.
😂😂
Agree..some fools are saying two.

Remember, guys, the Bruins had their sights on Orr when he was 12 years old. Sometimes, at least, they know what they're doing.
They know what they are doing, at least rounds 2 thru 4.

Hating the Bruins right now. This isn’t what they need to win the Cup. Did Sweeney not even watch the recent finals. Ugh!!!

Here's hoping he turns out at least as good as Beecher and Frederic
I am hoping for much better than that, those two are decent bottom 6 forwards.
