  • This is a 2010 Sequoia equipped with a 5.7 V8. The sequoia towed the camper well, but it is really a little more than what should be towed longer distances comfortably.

Can we take a moment of silence for the amount of fuel consumed in the making of this video? Lol all kidding aside the Sequoia is 100% my next vehicle purchase. My 18’ boat won’t test it this hard though.

Would you please tell me how exactly do you have your weight distribution hitch set up?
I’m concerned I have my rear axle overloaded in my 2008 Sequoia. I weighed my rv & Seq. & I got some weird numbers for the tow vehicle axles.
I have my ball mounted at the top of a 12” rise hitch & the CAT scale is telling me I have 4900 lbs. on the rear axle, 8100 lbs. on the rv trailer axle & the rv website says my rv weighs 6500 lbs. dry weight. There is no way my rv weighs over 9000 lbs. We don’t have that much stuff in it.
I believe CAT scales are inaccurate for combined vehicles weighing less than 20K lbs. But accurate for commercial/Class 8 transports.

I've heard the short wheelbase of an SUV is rough with camper trailers because of trailer swaying. Do you ever experience that as an issue?

I towed the same 6k lb camper with a tundra and the difference is fairly marginal. The 7k lb camper pulled about the same but you could tell the power was at its limit and it was slightly over max payload (200 lbs). That was with the whole family, dogs, and a power wheels.
We have pulled the 6k camper to florida and back twice from tennessee and have taken it on dozens of other short trips 2 hours away or less. We encountered some pretty bad storms along the way with winds. The vehicle does move more than a 3/4 ton truck for sure but i have never felt it to be over taxing or dangerous

@nerdyeevideos1879 this was the info I've been searching for, including the 200# over payload. Thanks!

I typically tow at around 70 on the interstate. Going up a larger hill like that goes a lot better with a run and go as well.

@@nerdyeevideos1879 is it worth buying a 13-15 sequoia?

@@zavomika8306 ours is a 2010, and it has done well for us over the last four years. The only thing that we have to do is recharge the a/c every year. If you can find one in good shape, mechanically they seem solid. And if you are towing 6k lbs or less it has done great.
