    Why would you used Dynel vs actually applying fiberglas material to the hull? I don't understand why this is done/used.

      +Jim Massey Because the strength of this type of boat comes from the wood and not the glassing. The fiberglass does not have the flexibility that Dynel does. This means the fiberglass could tear if required to flex. The Dynel is only used to make the waterproofing coat more durable than epoxy on wood alone.

      Some products claim their dynel to be even stronger than fiberglass with greater protection. Might take that some grain of salt thhough

    The Japanese used rice paper with resin on their Zero Airplanes at WWII.
