Squeaky brakes are usually caused more by vibration between the brake pads and the contact points on the caliper. Likely needs a refresh of grease on those points.
Thanks for the video! The Grom is my first bike and I'm watching and learning all I can about it. Def gonna upgrade to the better chain adjusters
Another great video Eric! Big thanks to the Blockhead channel for building my passion for bikes! Just got my license and first bike this week!
When Bagger Bro starts his own channel he’ll have 50k subs the first 24 hours!!! Great vid!
Liked before I watched the video , new it would be cool with Eric being Eric and showing things in his cool way !
Nice vídeo! For chain adjustment, there is a piece that lines up with the chain and makes easier to see if it is adjusted. I do not usually trust on the lines from the adjust only. It is interesting to check that.
Can you go into a little more detail? The Grom is my first bike
BaggerBro is growing on me. But I do miss Blockhead just a wee bit. ;)
Who is blockhead ? (In hopes blockhead sees this... I find it amazing how I get the same quality of content wether its Block or Erick, might be the fact that both of them are just natural when it comes to bike stuff, love bikes and share the knowledge)
There'll be plenty more of me in coming episodes, don't y'all worry. Surprised you're not tired of me yet, lol. And thanks for the kind words and support! Definitely one of the reasons I trust Erick on his own with these vids is b/c he's very natural and just "himself," something you all say to me often, haha. And he's also very meticulous about his work!
@@BlockheadMoto we see that block ❤ you guys are great people and great content creators and it is easy to see
It;s these upgrades that really make our bikes individual.
Aye Mr Rogers, thanks for the work. I have a 2020 Grom with 5,400 miles. It's my daily driver...
Grom modification, part deuces.
Great job Eric, if any knows how to yank off a chain it's you..
Wait that didn't sound right..
Can't wait for more gromventures 🤙🏼🛵💨
With the master link removed. use the master link or zipties to connect the new chain to the old chain and as you pull out the old chain you put the new chain on the front sprocket. then size the chain on the bike.
I'm liking these how to vids
Keep up the great work
Sharp edge on the masterlink clip goes outward. Away from the bike. Also do the same on washers, etc. Smooth edges always go towards the load.
I wish I had a baggerbro in my life! 🤣 Good help is hard to find, good friends are even harder! 😎👊🏼
I'm digging the grom content a lot, keep it up
My left chain adjuster just sheered off while I was on the highway definitely gonna get a beefier one
You forgot to tighten the two allen head bolts on the inside of the adjuster. I have the same ones on my Grom. Those two allen's slightly expand the adjuster locking it into the swing arm. That way they won't fall out when the axle is removed.
I'll be sure to double check that!
I know i didn't just see him open a box in the blockhead garage with a boxcutter @3:22.... right? cmon BRO
Right..? dishonor 🤦🏽♂️😁
Dang... looks like he's in for a talkin' to, sigh.
Maybe Block will make a guest appearance on the next vid. Nice job BB.
Another great video from Bagger Bro Eric!! Good job!! Blockhead you missed a great opportunity for Will Smith MIB old busted/new hotness clip.
Love these videos thank you!!!
Love Eric's how to videos
Block should race the 131 against road king Kong
That from is officially a fully custom motorcycle ain’t no one making one like that again unless it’s yalll. Lol
It's been through a lot, lol
The stock Grom sprocket is so noisy. I installed an aluminum tst and it made my bike a lot quieter
How did you like this chain replacement? I’m getting my bike running again and I’m looking to upgrade from the gross stock chain! Was looking at this one
Is that actually his favorite, I would have thought it was the og iron bc that’s was he started the UA-cam channel on
My favorite is: Whichever one I'm riding, haha
Just put the same chain on my grom, had to deal with the stock adjusters though
Sharp edge always faces out. Idea is the sharp edge can dig into the ends of the rivet and have a good hold. The smooth side can slip over the end of the rivet.
Same with c clips. Like the one used on the throttle lever pin on Harleys. Sharp out. Probably a better explanation of it on Google some where.
Sharp edge always faces away from the load, in this case, the bike. You are correct. Also, the reason you do it with washers, etc, is the idea is the smooth edge does not dig into the painted surface or otherwise scratch and rust non painted surfaces.
Sharp edges away from the load or surface, smooth edge towards the load or painted surface (bike).
I changed my chain
I put new adjusters
The left and right adjusters are different in space
Do you happen to remember how many links you took off?
At 11:40, was that a hint to the Blue Elephant I hear in the background?
does a 4.5 in stretch change how much slack i should be looking for? or is it the same?
Yo, I got my grom used and the dude didn't have a chain guard on it. Would you recommend I get one?
how did oyu end up liking this chain ? im thinking of swaping out the stock chain just wasnt sure because its a non o ring chain...thoughts?
does this chain come greased up ? if not what kind of grease or lube can you use with this non oring chain ? does the maxima chain cleaner and wax work?
I was always told if you do your chain do your sprockets. Premature wear.
Bike only has like 1800 miles on it, so it's not like they've got that much wear on them at all, it's just been beat in those 1800 miles, haha. Sprockets will be quick and easy to replace when that times comes.
She has had a hard start to life 🤣🤣🤣
I changed my chain at like 200 miles, wasn't going to change the sprockets that early, though I changed the front one to a smaller one at around the same time, for better acceleration.
What is the point of the new chain?
Questions with that new chain in a few rides or so will you ever have like a break or dent in it ? If so is it easy to repair it with the extra chain part that you took off with ?
It shouldn't break or dent. It'll 'break in' if that's what you mean, which will add to the slack of it, but all you have to do to fix that is adjust the chain tension with the new tensioners.
Do you need to change the adjusters when you change the chain?
No, people usually do since ur already working on the bike. U can change the chain to a new one and use stock adjusters.
What was the purpose of the spools added to the chain adjusters at the end?
The spools allow you to lift up the bike with a rear stand, making it easier and faster to do maintenance, such as chain tensioning, or even installs when you need the bike to set upright.
I replaced my chain and sprockets at 5800 miles, 106 links, at Sprocket Center. I could pull back on the chain and it would give a tiny bit, bad sprocket. So 5000 miles maybe the limit on the stock sprockets... Those new adjusters look really nice and beefy.
Why not change the sprockets with the chain off ?
Didn't need it, and it's easy to change when that time comes. These bikes are crazy easy to work on.
@@BlockheadMoto sorry Bro watched the rest of the video and and watched your response , being new sprocket was not needed sorry , I bow to your superior skills ;-)
Noob question, but that seemed awfully too tight. The spec is roughtly 1-1/2 inch play, is it not?
Cheers buddy
It would be nice to send you some pictures
Of my problem
1 3/8” freeplay!!! Definitely not half inch!
I thought the same thing!! Then he said when you sit on it it makes it even tighter. Which is true.
If I wasn't a fat guy I would get one of these they look like a blast
Groms are for everybody:)
So your method of chain tightness is just to grip on it without actually measuring sh8t? Ok
rear sprocket so small
Wait, was I the only person who noticed that the ODB chain adjusters weren't secured to the fork correctly?
How exactly do you secure chain adjusters for the rear wheel to the forks? 🤔
@@PkwyDrive13 the ODB adjusters have a slip in clamp you loosen them and then clamp it down on the side of the fork when you put them on.
Either Gromiebear or photogromer has a video that shows it.
@@coboltblue5303 ahhh I see, so you were meaning swingarm? Instead of fork?
@@PkwyDrive13 ah lol yeah swing arm not the fork
Ok u told me to talk to somebody
Don’t remember the name
🏆🏆🏆
That looks wayyyyy too tight! 30mm to 40mm.
Eric just used a box cutter. SHAME!!!
Shaaaaaame!

Yeah jack the bike up by the exhaust. 🤦🏼♂️ Don't do this, people.
