    I should not allow myself to watch amp reviews at 3am - you’ve more or less sold me on this amp. Thanks.

      It's just arrived - not been able to put it to much use yet, but initial impressions are very good thanks. Probably should have bought it ages ago.😊

    Do you think it’s better than Marshall DSL 5? I have the latter myself, but the ultra gain channel is not pleasan (clean one is nice and it’s a great pedal platform), and I’m considering buying a Laney.

      I’m a big fan of the Laney to be honest. I was really shocked by how versatile it is without any pedals. Everything in this video is straight into the amp and a bit of delay and / or reverb added from Logic. For the price point I don’t you can beat the Laney IMO.

    I had this amp. What you are playing sounds awesome, but nothing like this amp is if you just plug your guitar into the front and listen to it through the speaker. Using it the way you are is very different than what the average player would do or expect. Nice Chops and Nice external Gear.

    Sounds great but how does it sound in the room without going through logic? Does it sound boxy?

    • @MickyCrystal
      @MickyCrystal  11 місяців тому +2

      No not at all. I’ve used it for some shows and it worked great, certainly didn’t sound boxy. It’s very tweakable too with the various dip switches and the EQ on board so can dial in a lot of tones. All of the recorded tones here are as they’re recorded so there’s no trickery in post.

      Great review, thank you - but what DIP switches are you referring to? As far as I know the Super Cub 10 doesn't have any, or am I mistaken?@@MickyCrystal

      @@littlespaceman thank you and no you’re not mistaken, it’s my mistake, I’d clicked on the comment thinking it was referring to the Laney Loud Pedal which I’ve also done a demo for.
      The Cub really shocked me to be honest, super versatile and a simple layout yet very tweakable too.

      Thanks for clarifying ☺ Yes, I'm blown away by the Cub Super, it's actually my first valve amp, and all I can say is 'wow'. Now I get what all the fuss is about with valves, and that organic 'feel' thing 😀

      In a word Yes, it will sound boxy on it's own. You will not get this tone plugging direct into this amp and out through it's speaker while playing in your apartment or other. That doesn't mean it's a bad amp, just don't expect these precision tones direct into the amp and out of the speaker. You won't get them. Notice there is no microphone in front of the speaker. You would need some external digital gear to achieve it.

    I'm a bassist mainly. My only guitar is an Epiphone ES-335 paired with this amp. Sounds great! I couldn't ask more for my level of playing. But I'm always at 0.5 volume. This thing is f*cking loud. It hurts my ears.
