    Growing up my brother and I loved this show! It was on Friday night. My mom would be frying fish in the kitchen and we would be mesmerized by this show. Such action. It was the A-Team of its day. We both loved the animated intro of the show too. What fun times.

      The A-Team was 80's campy but I still liked it a lot. I loved this show and it wasn't campy at all. Both Ross Martin and Robert Conrad put their hearts and souls into their characters. The full DVD set is available. I own it.

    Correction: "Monochrome" refers to an image with a single color. Black and white TV shows were just several shades of gray.
    Every kid in those days, including me, wanted to be James West. We loved the action in every episode and we didn't take the violence seriously. We knew it was all staged. What do the studios and the NAB know? Besides, the violence on TV nowadays is way over the top.

    I loved this show! It was pure anachronistic fun! However, my mom didn't like it due to the violence. "The Wild Wild West" is a cult classic in its own right.

    I watched this show a lot as a kid in the late 70s. Even as a young kid I could tell that the technology was obviously too advanced for the time.
    The entire show wasn’t very realistic. It made the violence in it not really that noticeable. Closer to Batman tv type violence than realistic looking violence 😂

    I watched this as a child, it was so funny even then to watch the embarrassing the low budget special effects and fighting. It was like watching spoofs of westerns, but I didn't miss an episode.

    Robert Conrad later made a tv movie called “Hard Knox “ about a retired military officer who took over a military academy in Mount Carroll Illinois (in reality the former Shimer College campus).

    If you think this show was too violent, then you should check out episodes of the 1957 TV series O.S.S. starring Ron Randell. I remember (probably not accurately, tho) that almost every show that I watched had a graphic torture scene with the Nazis!

    Excellent show and not nearly as violent as the things on TV now. I can't watch NCIS/SVU. Now that's much too violence. Rape and child abuse seem common on this series. Never saw any of that on WWW.

    Umm... I would disagree about this show "not being your granddad's western". It was broadcast in the mid-sixties, for Pete's sake!. I watched it when I was a kid; I am now 67! Admittedly, I have no grandchildren... but plenty of my peers do.

    Last couple of episodes I had to stew on this, but I can make a few calls on this. One, no it wasn't too violent, it was revolutionary. Shows like Mission: Impossible, Wild Wild West and The Man From UNCLE just to name a few just showed it CAN go there, so long as it was given the opportunity. Hell, let's compare seasons. Two: if any show lasted for more than a season, it has piqued general interest. See various game shows as an example. I feel the problem that most vintage shows suffered was within was having the wrong type of people overlooking control of the performance. From the network execs to say, general consensus. Like you made a steampunk western, how cool is that? It wasn't post-apocalyptical, nor dystopian but just simple advanced tech to a world that wasn't ready for it. Three. It's just like with cartoons back then, during a time that parody WAS needed, same can be said for here. Society NEEDS a break from reality, hell even to a point where you need a good laugh or a way to relax and enjoy a good series that hit all the right spots. That's probably more reason why I watch older series, movies and anime more than now. It was more vibrant, better story telling and knew how to keep your interest. It didn't dumb you down, nor trigger you into a snowflake. Even some shows went OOC for a moment to give viewers awareness on some of the real issues happening and went so far as telling us how we should combat it. That's the true definition looking out for your best interest right there.

    I loved this show and Dr. Miguelito Loveless, played by Michael Dunn, was the best villain. The biggest question I always had was how did Robert Conrad get into those tight pants?

  • @TommyChardonneret
    @TommyChardonneret 7 місяців тому

    One, perhaps minor but not to me, feature of Robert Conrad as a well groomed, finely tailored and form fitting dressed secret agent was that the premiere of this series just happened to coincide with my onset of puberty. And as many budding gay men in America back then I later learned, I'm certain that many of us back then were adamant fans mainly because we could feast our eyes and are nascent libidos on the remarkably athletically fit Robert Conrad's oh-so-sexy physique in motion - all while Mom, Dad, and our siblings were watching this action packed weekly program! The then closeted yearning for open acceptance was finally fed on broadcast TV! The subsequent revelations that actor Conrad was a gay-tease, vain toxically "macho man" of an egotist prepared many of us for the same sort of disappointment when Mel Gibson betrayed his most loyal fanbase in his self-serving religiously based seething homophobic rants. But hey, those Wild Wild West reruns on retro TV channels are still as close to soft-core porn as TV ever got! Thankfully!!!

    it wasn't that violent as it had many bits of humor and most TV shows from the 50's 60's and very early 70's were all fairly violent it's was just the way that TV was = have gun will travel , combat man from uncle , mannex , garrison's guerrillas , honey west code name jerricho before the mid 80's and 90's came along
