As a fellow Kenyan-diaspora Luo babe, this brought me to tears. I've never seen our culture and wedding festivities narrated and captured as elegantly and fully as in this series. It's perfect. It's painful how so many of us grow up not understanding these traditions, or even resenting them. And yet, this is so educative and celebratory of who we are and what we stand for. Truly, thank you Lydia for sharing your life and love with us, and illustrating how beautiful it is to be Luo, Kenyan, and African. It's such a beacon of light and an example for younger girlies like me who loveeeee their culture but rarely feel like it's understood, seen, and celebrated. This is how we keep our culture alive. I've always dreamed of doing an ayie, kisera, and nyombo, and this just set the standard - I can't wait, not just to celebrate my own one day, but hopefully to capture it in a way that inspires others to do the same, just like you. Can't wait for Part 3 - love and hugs, God bless!!! 💕💕💕

Ngl Lydia, you take the cake with the way you produce your videos! My Gosh! So well produced! Such quality content! I'm Ghanaian and I've never really appreciated the pageantry and the production behind African traditional events until I watched this video! In other cultures they deliberately leave out the bride to make it more entertaining and he will definitely choose wrong then he will be fined for not knowing his bride, if they have more girls and her friends this process can repeat two or three times then eventually the bride will be brought in.

The White House being built JUST for your traditional wedding! All of the stories behind the process is astounding! Like your brothers home being built on the right of your father’s due to custom. You hiding away and being selected out of all of those women was AMAZING TO WATCH. THE CROWD that came to support your union. 😮. Everything was soo well put together.

Well executed video, showing the beautiful Kenyan culture 🇰🇪. I am South African, specifically from the Basotho/ isiXhosa culture and I have noticed similarities the Kenyan dowry and Basotho dowry with is called lobola. Both cultures do the identification of the bride, the bride does confirm she knows the family that has come to negotiate. The only differences is the groom is not part of the negotiations only his representatives and the brides family is given gifts and not money in the form of showing appreciation. Our Nyombo is called “umhlabiso” which is a traditional wedding held in the brides home.

You've outdone yourself with this series, it is absolutely stunning. This is an emotional documentary, of deep cultural and anthropological significance. What a show of joy and happiness! Please don't take this for granted!
I hope this series gets you a couple of awards, bravo!!!!

I love watching your traditional wedding videos. I am from South Sudan (Dinka tribe) and our traditional are very much similar. It made me happy and excited to watch as if you were my sister getting married. Thanks for explaining the process well, very educational. Congratulations! ❤️

This is soo beautiful 🤩, everytime I watch or see a traditional wedding I grow to love our cultures soo much and want to have one too. I can’t wait to do one as well. Love this for you guys and love how the in-laws made it clear that you’re priceless and no money can amount to what they have been blessed with ❤
