Arianna, nice video sharing your reasoning for getting the x-Ppro2. I also shoot this camera and value the rangefinder form finding it more discrete and less intrusive for street and travel photography. If you like the idea of "hiding" the LCD screen, you can do that by pressing the View Mode button and advancing to the Eye Sensor/Viewfinder only mode and the LCD screen will stay dark. The camera will also go to "sleep" after the eye is no longer at the viewfinder, and the timing of this can be set from 30 sec to several minutes in the menu. Yet, should you decide to take a peek at your last shot, you can always hit Playback and the LCD will light up for the review and then go dark again with a light touch on the shutter button. I often shoot this way as it comes close to the film experience. Hope this is helpful to you. Happy image making!
The xpro is also weather resistant, which for some is a big advantage. And btw, I LOVE my hidden screen on my Xpro3. I think reviews of a pure photography camera, made by vloggers, doesn’t really do the camera justice.
agreed! i definitely have a strong appreciation for the design behind the hidden LCD screen; other don't have the same view but i also find that i didn't have the same shooting styles/preferences as those reviewers
switched to the x-pro3 from a x100f for exaaaactly the reasons you said! the hidden screen is also definitely not a huge issue at all, once you get used to it it's good to go. It's perfect for street and documentary work.
I found that most of the reviews on the X-Pro3 actually had the hidden LCD as a cool feature (of course, not all of them liked it) but I have a feeling I could get used it. The waist level ability helps with street and documentary work I'm sure!
Great decision. The X-Pro2 has been my daily driver for almost 3 years. And the 35/f2 is an excellent all-around prime. (As an aside, I pre-ordered the 27/f2.8 R WR, deeply regretting that I sold a mk I version about a year ago. Perfect form factor on an X-Pro body.)
18mm was another option i was looking into but ended up getting the 10-24 for additional zoom since i wouldn't be shooting wide angle too often. love the 35mm f2 though! and hope you're loving the xpro2 so far as much as i did even in the first few days!
Smart choices, I'm sure your very happy with your decision. I picked up a used xt2 last year and my wife got me the 35 f2 as a gift. I love the Fuji system. Cheers 👍
@@Arianna-zx1ro oh I love it! Before I got into Fuji I saw a lot of hate for the "fujicron" f2 lenses compared to their 1.4 counterpart. I still haven't used those lenses but after using the 35 f2 you can't help but love it. Small, light, sharp, weather resistant, fast AF, great aperture ring and affordable. It's just wins all around 😆. And I love that the lense hood threads into filters.
Thank you for telling your thoughts why buying the X Pro 2. I just bought also a X Pro 2 and will get it in some days. Will following your Chanel now! Greetings from Germany!
Excellent video! Glad you picked up the X Pro 2. Congratulations! I just received the X Pro 3 along with the 16mm 2.8. I’m looking forward to it being my EDC. And I look forward to watching your videos using the X Pro 2.
Good choice! The 2 is a much better deal than the 3 right now. I would be shooting with the same camera in a heartbeat, but I’m too happy with my used Df and old Nikkor lenses.
One day I'll have to try old vintage lenses on my digital cameras. I've got a few Olympus ones from my 35mm SLR! Never tried Nikon before but my dad has a few of the old film cameras!
I moved from Nikon DX cameras to the Fujifilm X series in 2012 for one reason: prime lenses. Was one of my rare correct decisions. I now only have primes lenses for my X-Pro2.
@@Arianna-zx1ro favorite? Would you believe the 27mm f2.8 pancake lens. Why, you ask. The angle of view. I consider it my normal lens. I use it more than my other 3 lenses combined. They are the 16mm f2.8, the 23mm f2 and the 50mm f2.
that is correct, Nikon did not develop DX prime lenses for the important focal lengths; however, for the FX lineup, there are many small FX prime lenses for 20, 24, 28, 35, 40, 50, 85 mm (optical designs originating from the film days and subsequently modified). I also have Fuji (x-t3) and the x100f , and have the fuji primes 16 2.8, 35 2, 50 2, 35 1.4. I am also almost an exclusive prime lens shooter, both on Nikon FX and Fujifilm.
I've been an Olympus fan for many years, used to owned many body such as epl7, em10mk3, pen f and em1mk2. But last week I've made a decision of switching to Fuji mainly because of the colours that Fuji produce and the looks of the camera. I've bought the xpro3 with dura black colour, it looks so cool and I love it. It makes me wanna take the camera out every time I go out, it's such a fun experience. I also bought many Fuji lens to suit the xpro3, 16mm2.8 , 23f2, 35f2, 50f2, 18-55 and 55-200. (The reason I bought that many lens so I can share with my girlfriend since she got the xs10) and my fav lens is 35f2. Its sharp, fast, compact and good distance for street photography. Hope you enjoy your xpro2!
You made a Great decision on the X-Pro2. I have owned and used countless different cameras in the last four decades from toy cameras to pro SLRs/DSLRs, medium and large format, and the X-Pro2 is my all time favorite camera that I still shoot since it came out, and I own six Fuji X bodies but I always grab this one if I want interchangeable lenses. It's also been a great professional shooter for me as well. I thought about upgrading to the X-Pro3 but after much self deliberating I found that with my shooting style, that the pulling down the hidden LCD would get old after a while, especially if you're on a paid shoot, and the extra 2mp and the one added film simulation would not be worth the cost. I totally get the design and intention of the X-Pro3 but the X-Pro2 is the same camera outside this features. You still get that same classic operation and if I ever want to hide my LCD I just turn it off with a couple taps of the View mode button. I found with the OVF/EVF that if I want to save battery I do the hybrid OVF setup where you are in OVF mode and if you need to check fine focus or exposure, you flip the mini corner display in the viewfinder if I'm shooting manual. That together with your LCD off will give you better battery life, Plus it then feels like you are using a film rangefinder type experience. There is so so much this camera can do that I have yet to explore. Adapting old manual lenses and some really nice third party art lenses is something this camera shines at... and if I ever downsize or try to sell off my fuji bodies I am definitely keeping this one. Have fun and enjoy your new Fuji. [edit] Oh I also suggest downloading FujiX Weekly app on your phone for film recipes to manually program into your Fuji if you want other film stocks than what Fujifilm give you natively. Right now I have some Kodak, Ilford and Agfa stocks loaded that I use to shoot back in the day. now many will not 100% translate on the X-Pro2 as the X-trans III processor is missing a couple color settings (some fine WB and color chroma I believe) that the newer processors have, but you can get pretty close
First off - thank you soooo much for taking the time to write this comment! I absolutely appreciate it and for the advice on the battery because that was definitely one of the first things I've noticed. I also did notice that the FujiX Weekly recipes didn't translate directly to the X-Pro2 but they were super good to have a basis to tweak and build from. Your comment has made such a big impact on reenforcing my decision for choosing the X-Pro2 (which is so appreciated since it's not exactly a small purchase overall)!
@@Arianna-zx1ro You are very welcome. Yeah, you'll discover little tricks that will make things more efficient just like any other camera. I think on the FujiX Weekly app, the paid version you can filter by X-Trans version or model, I have the free version so trying to find what totally works is a task but like you said a great base to start from at least. This camera will last forever I think and once you get that muscle memory down with the buttons and all it'll be second nature to you... don't you just love that solid but dampened shutter sound too?!
@@artsilva Yeah that's actually why I ended up deleting the app but just bookmarking the website - a little harder to use on the fly when you have just the free version. And the shutter sound is one of my favorite parts about the X-Pro2 for sure - so good!!
Yeah, good suggestion on the use of OVF. One other tip I have on battery usage is buy a small SD card pouch and thread it onto your camera strap. You can get these neoprene pouches that are designed to carry extra SD cards and/or small batteries. You thread your camera strap through the back of the small pouch and slide an extra battery into it. When my battery fails I have an extra in the pouch. When I get home I replace it with a newly charged battery and stick the spent one in the charger. (Orange dot up means fresh battery. Orange dot down, needs to be charged. I know, I'm OCD.) I can shoot the entire day without battery anxiety.
Switching from my Sony system to the Fujifilm system. Literally is so much fun to shoot now. Have shot something everyday since getting my X-Pro 2 (also got the 35f2 lens). Such a sweet setup. As mentioned, your video is brief, clear and interesting. All the best!!
I have been shooting since 1959 while serving in the Army. I used Nikon for over 40 years and it never let me down, but as I became older it became to heavy. I then went to m 4/3 using Panasonic and had a full set of lens but then moved to Fuji when my son bought into the Fuji System. I own the Pro 2, and have the 16mm f/2.8, 23 mm f/2.0, and the 35mm f/2.0. The 35mm is one of the best lens that I have ever owned. I did have a problem with my first copy and had to send it back to Fuji and they ended up replacing the original lens with a refurbished one (I said to do that). It turned out to be the sharpest lens in my kit. My next favorite is the 16mm f/2.8 which is supper fast to focus on the street, though you need to be standing very close to the subject. Anyway, you have a very good street camera and lens and I hope you have as much fun with it as I have.
super awesome to hear about seasoned photographers shooting the xpro2 because it makes me excited to see where the camera can take me. I've been loving the 35mm f2, like you said, it's incredible. i still do love my olympus system (also m4/3) but we'll see where my fuji system takes me ha. thanks for the comment!
I got the Fuji X-Pro1 in 2020! One thing I think is important, and is often overlooked, is the feel of the camera in your hands. The X-Pro series just feels familiar for me because learned photography on my father's old school SLR. I don't mind taking out the Fuji.. my Nikons not so much
100% AGREE! I have been loving this camera because I actually want to take it out and carry it around all the time! I think that's a huge pro of the camera. And I have an old SLR as well that I still love using - totally love carrying that around too.
Nice video Arianna. I pre-ordered an X-Pro2 when it was first announced. I had seen it in a video by Lok Cheung from DRTV and really wanted to get one. After collecting it I found it was a terrific camera to use, especially for street photography here in London, England. Since then I have added an X-T2, X-T3 and X-T4 to my collection and love them all, especially the X-T4 but I still go out most weekends taking pictures and the camera I use most is the X-Pro2. It has such a lovely form factor and feels so nice in the hand. Also, it does not attract adverse reactions from people when I am taking their picture. In fact, many people stop and ask me about the camera after they initially mistake it for a classic film one. I use mine mostly with the 23mm f2 lens which has exactly the angle of view I prefer. I did have the 35mm f2 but sold it to get the 23. I look forward to looking at your other videos and would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Thank you so much!! And I'm so glad you brought up the aesthetics of it because I would 100% be one to eye the camera if I saw someone carrying it on the street.
It's only been about a month since I finally got into photography (mostly either time or money was the factor). I originally looked at the X-E1, X-E2, X-Pro1, and X-Pro2 since I like the rangefinder style design. My backups were the X-T1 and X-T2. Prices were always fluctuating and I found an X-T1 with 2 zoom lenses and a battery grip that was too good of a price to pass up. The package deal was pretty much the price of an X-E1/X-E2 body alone at the time of purchase. I couldn't have been more happy to get it to start my photography journey and learn about the Fuji system that I've occasionally looked at since they first switched to X-Trans. I'm still looking at the X-Pro2 every now and then but until then, I've gotten the three f2 primes so far and will sell the two zooms soon to fund the 16mm f2.8 mainly for indoor use to take of nieces and nephews running around, Sorry it got so long, I'm just enjoying photography so much these days and seeing the same kind of passion from others inspires me more, too. Thank you!
I picked up an X-pro2 a few months ago and love it! I find that I always have the urge to take photos on it, one reason because the shutter sound is so satisfying... Watched so many videos on this camera / lenses and fuji gear and its cool to see a female photographer making content, so thanks 👍
I came across your UA-cam channel by chance. Very interesting. Because I also have Fuji for Fun and otherwise take photos with Olympus. I think both systems are really great. I find your way of making videos very likeable. Quiet, businesslike and very friendly. Keep it up.
Thank you so much! And I so appreciate you taking time to comment as well. Also cool to hear someone else using fuji+olympus similarly to how I do - perhaps great minds think alike haha
I just got the X-pro1 and there is nothing wrong with using an older camera. They are as good as they were the day they were launched. Fuji IQ is still amazing even for older cameras. And most important, they are super fun to use!
Good move. I purchased an xpro1 a few years ago and it gave me a boost in creativity just by the fact that the jpeg it turns out are excellent ... may go to an xpro3 in the future but for now the 1 is still giving me great results ... I also shoot film with a Fuji GA 645... that too is a wonderful 120 camera.
Great real world perspective. I actually started with the XE-3 last year and traded up to a used and bit funky X-Pro2. I really love the XE-3 and Fuji but I LOVE LOVE LOVE the X-Pro! Beyond build and overall feel, the OVF is a killer feature. I started with 27mm and 18-135mm. I'm meh on the 27 but the 18-135 is totally underated lens. Getting XF50mm F2 next week!
Great choice. I've been using an X-Pro2 for 4 years and it still delivers. It has a few niggling problems like the ease with which you can bump the diaopter and exposure compensation dial, but you'll learn to do a quick check of those before raising it to your eye, and rest can be done by feel. 35mm is still my most commonly used lens. I personally recommend people look at the 10-24mm as a follow-up depending upon the style of photography you enjoy. You can do a lot with just those two lenses. Have fun with it!
Funny enough - 10-24mm is the second lens I ordered for it (I have a first impressions video coming out about that lens this week). I agree that there are definitely little aspects of the camera that I'm getting used to, but like you said, it's been a great choice so far!
Also on a plus side, you can also do 4K if you want to for these sit down videos. The APS-C sensor will give you either equivalent to your olympus setup or a little more. (maybe with Pro Neg Hi as film simulation).
I definitely want to try shooting some videos with a film simulation. Unfortunately, probably not in 4K quite yet...at least not until I upgrade my Mac to higher storage haha. Even with an external SSD to store files it's filling up quick 😂
I had the Xpro2 but decided to keep the XT2 for one simple reason. When shooting with manual lenses, the XT2 has an option in the view finder to have a smaller main screen and then a small zoomed in section which is a massive help when manual focusing. As I shoot with lots of manual lenses and vintage lenses this by far the most useful function of the XT2 over the Xpro2. I have no idea why it wasn't on the Xpro2 but it was enough for me to keep the XT2 and sell the Xpro2. I also have an e-m10 mk IV which I love. Both Olympus and Fuji make wonderful cameras.
oh wow never knew that! I haven't tried adapting older vintage lenses or using any fully manual lenses on my xpro2 (yet) so i'll have to see what that experience is like. usually if i want that I'll just shoot film. also loved the em10 mark II when i had it - huge fan of olympus here!
@@Arianna-zx1ro You can still punch in to zoom to manually focus but my old xpro 2 didn't have the viewfinder option to have the split screen in the viewfinder, larger part for main scene and then a punched in screen for manually focusing at the same time.
I've had my Pro2 for c. 3 years now and love it. For travelling (its, until recently, main use) I got the 16-55 - a bit of a beast but flexible and superb. I might add the 70-300 later this year although most of my shots are in the 16-30 range it may offer different shooting opportunities.
I would be curious about the 70-300! I got the 90 over the 50-140 and 55-200 (video coming on that soon) so it leaves me open to the 70-300 for extra telephoto. I've heard wonderful things about the 16-55 so that's definitely on my list to consider down the road. Glad to hear you still love the xpro2 after 3 years...i have a feeling i might be the same too
@@Arianna-zx1ro Thanks for the swift response Arianna. I'll let you know how the 70-300 works if and when I get it. It looks like our next trip will be next Feb/March - and it will be a photo bonanza - Singapore, W Australia including the magical Monkley Mia, and taking the Indian-Pacific from Perth to Sydney and then visiting old friends in Sydney where we lived from 1992-94. If travel does open up sooner we might take a trip to Scotland or Newfoundland in the early fall. Then I'd get the 70-300. Previously, I was tempted by the 90 for telephoto but it's not much better than the 16-55 in reach and now we have the 70-300. I also have the 56 mainly for taking shots of my grandkids (when I see them :( ) and I'm always staggered by its sharpness. I use a Peak Design "sling" bag so it'll take the X-Pro2 and both lenses. I also use the PD strap and toggles (links) and one is attached to the camera base (tripod connection). This means I can easily carry the camera and 16-55 and it all sits nice and flat on my back rather than poking out as with conventional straps. Another option is if we go walking I just take the 70-300 and I could also easily take my beloved Ricoh GRIII for wide-angle shots. My current photography project is digitizing 47 years years of film! I digitized all the movies successfully with the help of proffesionals.but will do the prints/slides/negatives myself. Stay well.
@@MartinHarvey Incredible! Very jealous of your upcoming trip - it sounds like it's going to be a blast. I love the 90 as a telephoto but then again I don't have the 16-55 so it feels much longer for me because my next one down is the 35mm. As for your current photography project, that's awesome! Luckily for me, I've only been shooting film for about 6 months so it's all digitized ha.
I'm looking to get this camera in the next few weeks along with the 16mm. If you like classic cameras You should try the Olympus pen f released in 2016; it's a beautiful retro classic piece of art, very capable even on today's standards. i like the pen f so much, i own two of them.
Yes i looked into the Pen F!! it's such a beautiful camera and a great price point. Unfortunately the XPro2 won out because of the dials but I would definitely still reconsider in the future.
I picked up a used X pro2 in 2021 as well, also got the 35mm f1.4 with it, I got it over the f2 because it was only like 50 aud more and came with 2 high quality filters, the size and weight are not that much different, however the wr and faster autofocus are nice though.
Thanks for this video. I've been using the Olympus cameras for a while and love their small size and modern controls and tiny prime lenses. I have the x-pro2 and enjoy the form factor and prime lenses, but I don't really like the "film camera" type controls, although I use film cameras with similar controls. I recently bought a x-s10 which has been great. Small modern controls body with small prime lenses. It's the aps-c version of the micro 4/3 system. Keep up the good work!
Hi Arianna, I think that was a smart choice. I used to immediately upgrade to the latest version cameras, but they've become so good now that there are often pro's and cons to 'upgrading'. None of the recent Fuji cameras have been convincing enough to make me change, as good as they are. As a user of all Fuji cameras, my favourites are the Xpro2 and X100 series. I looked at the Xpro3 and immediately bought another new Xpro2 while I still could. If you never use the optical viewfinder or the LCD during a shoot then your choice would be different. I switch between electonic and optical constantly and the loss of the optical viewfinder options on the '3' was not for me. Horses for courses I guess ;-)
Great points Mark! I've noticed that because I have the optical viewfinder and LCD available to me on the XPro2, I definitely use both. I wonder how different it would be if I had gone with the 3...but agreed with your point about upgrading - even "older" cameras are so good now anyways that it's often hard for me to justify paying the price of the latest versions!
i always wanted to buy a fuji camera and i think this is the best option since i already have a nikon z 6 . the 100V looks nice as well , thank you for this video . i followed you on instagram to see more pic .
I bought a used X pro 1 this summer and totalt love it. I also got a X100 (the first model) and a XT4. I will sell my Nikon stuff as soon I get a couple of more Fuji lenses.
@@Arianna-zx1ro The X100 is quite similar to the Xpro1 when carrying the 23 mil. Just smaller and lighter. But somhow I prefer the size and weight of the Xpro. Maybe I’m a little bit biased. I used to carry around a fullgrown Nikon D3 … I also prefer to carry one or two extra lenses. The 23 is my allrounder, but I also like the 50 2.0. I also use to carry the 18 2.0 but I think its too similar to the 23. I will probably some time get a 16 mil, it might complement the 23 better. More important I need a substitute for my Nikon 70-200 2.8 and a macro lens.
Just had the best deal ever in Craigslist. I got the graphite color w lens for only 1,000, and everything works great! I would say like in mint condition beyond happy
@@Arianna-zx1ro haha totally. If Fuji can get on the same level of autofocus as Sony and remove the time recording limit, they’ll take over the world lol
Thanks for the support! And gotta say...I've been loving it so far. I've been shooting with it a ton (and documenting some for UA-cam) so that might help influence your decision if you keep watching 😂
I'm on the verge of getting an x-pro2. Although, I fear I might not have it long as I own a bunch of m4/3 gear already and may regret the lack of IS in an x-pro2. I offered a lower price than the seller's starting bid and was surprised he accepted it. I'll give it a shot, but I do love my olympus and panasonic gear
I still love my Olympus gear and can't bring myself to completely go for Fuji because I do love the m4/3 crop as well as a lot of Olympus features including the IS. That being said, I also like having both and love shooting the X-Pro2 specifically!
@@Arianna-zx1ro I've got my x pro 2 now, but I'm not getting rid of my micro four thirds gear just yet. If fuji were to do a small, weather sealed camera with IBIS akin to my panasonic GX80, then and only then would I be prepared to give it up. Or if panasonic were to do a weather sealed gx10 and release weather sealed lenses like fuji's f2s then perhaps i could make up my mind lol. I have seen 25mm f1.4 mk ii and that may be a lens for my olympus E-M5 ii, so we're getting close lol
@@Jonathan-hu3lk YES! I'm actually planning on doing a video on why I wouldn't be getting rid of my Olympus gear anytime soon and some of the "better" features it offers. You've touched on most of the point - size/weight and IBIS are big ones for me. Especially when considering how much more common IBIS is on M4/3 cameras vs. only really being in Fuji's more expensive X series ones.
Looking forward to get mine. Probably arrives this week. Looking forward to a more user experience video with this setup! Small note. I think you have to turn your open lens hood 180°. It has been made open so you can look thru it when using the ovf. Now it's blocked 😉
I also love both olympus and fugi. Right now the xpro2 would be my 1st choice (don't like the screen on the pro3, and miss the d-pad). Do wish for a little better battery life. My olympus is a stylus 1 (not a 4/3). Would like to upgrade my olympus to an OM5. Maybe for the xpro 3 there should be several versions with LCD option? Thanks for the helpful video. Please keep them coming.
Great thoughts and video. I shoot a lot of brands and formats, film and digital, but since the original X100 was released that series has been my obsession, I featured the T and the F so much on my channel and still look back at the Images they produced with pride, Fuji make lovely cameras. I recently gave my beloved X100F to my old dad which leaves me X less. My Initial thoughts were the X-pro 3 but why pay extra brass when and X-pro 2 will do all and much more than I need. I'm currently trawling local auction site looking to snag one. Liked and subbed ya mate regards paul
Here are what I found the differences between the 2 & 3 Ovf is better in 2 since it got 2 focal lengths 3 got extra film simulations and probably more in the future. The 3 got titanium body 3 got better Evf Paint on 2 is easier to fall off when it hit something 3 got better auto focus Been owing 2 for nearly 5 years.it is an amazing camera, still loving it!
Good to know you still love the 2! 3 is hands down an upgrade from the 2 but all just "nice to haves" for me and not need-to-haves! Mirrorless cameras are so good nowadays anyways
i'm currently shooting a borrowed XT-2 from a friend, its great actually.. makes me realize dated cameras aren't always a bad thing, consumerism gets us confused at times
@@kadeemcreates Most of Fuji's upgrades have been geared towards cellphone users and vidiots. Screw touch screen, I'll shoot on my cellphone in that case. And they took away things like the D-Pad. Plus, the older Fujis are Made in Japan.
Same here...x100 and xpro series, especially xpro3 really looks stunning and have that film camera vibe, was originally planning to trade my X100V for an xpro3, but after watching your video, thinking about the costs, I think getting an xpro2 would be good enough:)
there is a bit of difference between the X100 series and the X Pro series : interchangeable lens, and size The X100 can fit in a jacket pocket pretty easily, and it basicaly fits in my hand, it's a bit smaller than an X-E line of cameras from Fuji the X-Pro on the other hand is CHONKY AF for a rangefinder style camera, it is as heavy as some DSLRs, and definetly more than other fuji bodies, even high end ones like the X-T1/2/3 etc
Hi, I've just sold all of my Old gear and now awaiting delivery of an XPro2, really undecided which lens or lenses to get. How do you find the 23 and 35 F2's please. Do you have any examples of shots you could share ?
I don't own the 23 f/2 but I love the 35 f/2. It's equivalent to the "nifty fifty" and I find that it's awesome paired with the 10-24 wide angle lens. I typically have the 35 on my xpro2 and 90% of the time don't feel I need any wider so I personally don't feel the need to pick up the 23. I have a video coming out today that will include a handful of sample photos taken on my 35 f/2! Hope that helps - I'm sure you may have a preference based on your old gear and what focal length you shot with the most.
I’ve been shooting Olympus for years. While I love the Olympus gear. I’ve been look at Fuji cameras for a long time. I’ve just picked up an X-T2 two weeks ago. I haven’t had time or the weather to shoot much with it. My first impression is the Olympus OMD-EM1 II is a much better built camera. I think I’ll like it, but time will tell.
I'm curious about the XT2/3/4 so that's good to know about the XT2. I love the EM1 II as well though and I think it's such a great camera, especially given the price. I've been loving the X-Pro2 but don't think I'll give up the EM1 II anytime soon.
@@bobdrawbaugh4207 Ah gotcha. I am as well but maybe the shape of my face is just different where it doesn't usually cause an issue. Ergonomics is always important!
I just purchased the XPro 2- I owned the 100f but gave that to my niece.I was just wondering if there was a quick set up guide on UA-cam somewhere that others have used
Omar Gonzalez has a bunch of videos setting up his Fuji cameras that I used! Also check out FujiXWeekly's film simulations if you want a few prebuilt film recipes that you can throw in there.
I also shoot with Olympus/ Fujifilm. But I find myself often needing the IBIS when shooting with the Fujifilm, which it lacks. You didn’t mention IBIS when comparing the Xpro 2 and 3.
I actually overlooked IBIS when making my decision - probably because I took it for granted so much on the Olympus systems (or because I'm still very much an amateur haha). I typically shoot landscapes on a tripod or with a rather quick shutter speed when taking other photos handheld, so I haven't noticed anything too bad so far. That being said, I will definitely pay more attention to that in future photos since I do want to do a longer term review of the camera. Thank you for pointing this out!
I totally feel this! Haha my lens lineup keeps changing, but I hope I am set for a while! The X-Pro2 got me into Fujifilm! Such a great camera. Nice video - keep it up! 👍🏻😊
Used X-Pro3 prices have been dropping but used X-Pro2 prices holding their ground. Making a similar decision. Huge advantage the X100 series had is that because it is so small you are more likely to take it with you but if you already have Olympus that may not be a issue for you.
I actually found that even with the smaller size of the Olympus, I never really took it with me as an everyday carry - the most I used it was taking it on all my hikes (which is still better than it sitting on my shelf!). That was my biggest draw towards the X100 series and being able to fit it in my purse, but I just couldn't justify spending the price without being able to have interchangeable lenses. I've actually been carrying the XPro2 around a lot though (more than I ever did with my Olympus) so I'm loving it!
@@Arianna-zx1ro I had the X-E2S for a good year or so with a 35mm. It got the most love because it was so small and easy to carry. I also have a Nikon Coolpix A (APS-C point and shoot with full manual). That camera will fit my back pocket and gets used so much because it so small. The only thing I wish that camera had is a built in viewfinder. I get it, last thing I need is another camera that sits around not being used. If I could only choose one I would also go with a X-Pro but if I could get two I would probably go with the X100 and I suspect I may even use it more.
Found your video doing some research on the X pro 2, my local shop has one used on sale in near mint condition. I am looking for a smaller street camera to accompany my bigger full frame nikon. The nikon is just so big to bring into the streets, think the X is still worth while? I really don't want to pay the new prices for what is ultimately "for fun"
I was shooting with three X-Pro1 bodies. When I broke one of my three X-Pro1 bodies, instead of repairing it, I replaced it with an X-Pro2 body. Love the X-Pro2 body so much that if one of my remaining two X-Pro1 bodies breaks, I will replace it with another X-Pro2 body instead of an X-Pro3 body.
Well, it's kind of a rangefinder. With a "real" rangefinder you twist the lens until the focusing patch "snaps". With the Fujifilm, you press a button on the back of the camera until the focusing patch outline turns green. Pretty similar experience. I wouldn't venture to call one way or the other "better". The bigger thing that defines a "rangefinder" is the bright-line OVF. Composing and timing your shot looking at your subject instead of looking at a picture of your subject. That's the same on both. Except, if we're talking about the Leica as our "real" rangefinder, the finder is actually nicer on the Fuji. (At least on the X-Pro3. Dunno about the X-Pro2.)
I just ordered the X-Pro2 from MPB. Looks like you did too. I can tell from all the packing.🤣 I am looking forward to an all day carry cameranand may use the 18-55 lens on it for starters as it has IS.
i still think of X100v as well, but I use a film camera as my true everyday carry. if you don't have something like that, i almost might be inclined to get the x100v instead! hope that helps...
hi there, how is the noise performance? Mainly towards night street or like >800 ISO I use a Canon 7DmkII and i also used the OG 5D (which is dead now) and tbh i am very inclined to getting a used 5DmkIII Where I live, getting a used 5DmkIII is slightly more expensive (by like 100-ish tbh) than a X-Pro2. I like the X-Pro3 but honestly 3k for just the body is nothing short of overpriced (since even a 6DmkII cost lesser and it's a full frame)
truthfully, I've only shot in lowlight situations a few times and I usually use film simulations and bump up the grain on purpose so I wouldn't be the best person to ask for this. Hopefully someone else will see your comment and respond something more helpful than me!!
I shoot with the xh1 and the x100f... I’ve found that after a year of the x100f the focal length leaves something to be desired. How do you find the eye relief to be on the xpro2? I also wear glasses. I must say I usually have the 35mmf2 glued to my xh1.
Ah nice! I think if I were to completely move to the Fuji system I'd go for the XH1. I can't say for sure since I don't wear glasses but I haven't had any issue so far (granted, I also haven't shot for long periods of time because it's been freezing here lately). Contrary to what I mentioned about the X-Pro3's hidden LCD display, I actually have been using the X-Pro2's LCD quite a bit so that may be easier than using the viewfinder. Hopefully that helps at least a little!
I've got the XT20 for about 3 years now, thinking of an upgrade, possibly to the XT3. But the X-pro series has always caught my eye and makes me want to try them out, I can't afford the expensive Xpro3, but getting the Xpro2 would mean sort of a downgrade since it came a year earlier than the xt20. I'm in a dilemma haha, what do you think?
So I've never looked into the XT20 so I'm not sure about the specs but I do have some tidbits in terms of choosing a camera. 1. I'm never really too concerned about year released because I was shooting with a 16MP Olympus camera released in 2015 all the way until 2020 and honestly, didn't even realize how old it was or that it was only 16MP until I started looking into the upgrading 5 years later. 2. Mirrorless cameras in general are all incredible now if you're mostly sticking to posting photos via web. Unless you're printing (and usually larger prints too), I wouldn't be TOO concerned about MP especially if price is a factor in your decision! 3. It ultimately comes down to what you like and what you use your camera for. I've gotten some comments pointing out that the X-Pro series is exactly what it sounds like: a ~pro~ series. So definitely not a downgrade! But again, you have to determine what you want in a camera. I believe the XPro2 is the same sensor as the XT20 so can you give up the tilting screen? Do you like the ergonomics of the X-Pro2 and the rangefinder-style camera with the viewfinder off to the side? Which camera will you prefer to carry around more or would you be more comfortable using on shoots? I looked into the X-Pro2, XT3/4, and XH1 when determining which Fuji camera I wanted first. But the biggest factors for me personally were 1. price, 2. which camera would I want to carry around day to day (since an everyday carry was the type of camera I was looking for), and 3. which camera would I ultimately enjoy the most? They're all great cameras, released in different years and have different specs, but they were all far better than what I'd ever actually need for my photography! That was a super long answer and I'd be happy to expand - but I'd say if you have a gut feeling towards one of them, I would go with it (especially if you're not doing photography mostly for money/clients - then that may be a different decision haha).
HELP! I bought a Fuji XT200 last year (October I think), my first camera ever, and I kinda want to upgrade now. Do you guys think it is worth it to sell the XT200 for 500$ and then invest them in a new camera? I've been considering the X-Pro2 (I love the looks and the view finder, by just looking at it I want to go out and take pictures) and the X-T3 (I think it has more space for me to grow into as a hobbyist photographer)
I'm actually quite curious about this...I didn't realize how powerful the XT200 is because people hype up the X-Pro and X-T series! I do prefer both the weather sealing and dual card slots abilities of the X-Pro2, however, the fully articulating screen (game changer for filming UA-cam videos and lots of photos in "unique" positions) and size/weight are huge benefits of the XT200 as well. I hope other people comment with suggestions because I personally don't have a recommendation but will now be looking into the XT200!
I just bought a used XE2s and am loving it too. My plan is to use it with vintage and manual focus lenses to slow down my photography and get that shooting film experience.
Honestly the fixed screen has not been a problem since getting it. If ANYTHING, maybe a few shots but that is such a small percent of actual shots I've taken with this camera. Biggest con is no IBIS with lowlight situations, but definitely easy to work around if you are intentional about your settings!
As the owner of an X-pro2 myself, I thought she had unboxed a giant novelty version. Took me a long moment before my brain kicked in and I realized her hands must be very much smaller than my 6’3”, 200lbs, gorilla paws . Great camera though, highly recommend, for all hand sizes.
Question: I noticed in the video you got your Fuji from MPB cameras, what has been your experience buying from them? I sometimes use KEH but have had a few "not as advertised" issues with a couple film bodies and lenses, I say it's a 50% keeper rate in my experience them... just wondering if I should try MPB.
So I've gotten 2 bodies and 1 lens from MPB so far with another lens on the way. I always buy items that are either 'excellent' or above (usually settled on excellent for saving a few extra bucks. So far I've had absolutely nothing bad to say about them - they ship quick to my home, always packaged super safely (as you saw from the additional boxes and wrapping the camera and lens came in), and I've actually found their prices are always the lowest (without having to be sketched out by Facebook Marketplace - if I can even find the item I'm looking for on there). I can't speak to their return/exchange or trade-in/selling experience but buying has been wonderful so far!
@@Arianna-zx1ro Good to hear, thanks for sharing that. I've been on the fence about buying from them as I don't know anyone that has dealt with them before. I will take your recommendation and definitely look to purchase from them in the future. I am actually looking to get a high megapixel Nikon FF DSLR for any commercial work I hope to get this year and I am always weary about used gear websites, especially ones that give minimal info about the item. It seems MPB is legit and honest about what they sell. Thanks again :)
With the exception of a lens I just pre-ordered, I routinely buy and sell lenses through MPB. I've found them far more responsive and easier to work with than KEH and think their grading is much more accurate.
@@martycavassa also good to hear, thanks. KEH left me with some doubts with me continuing with them because of their rating system, not fully disclosing full details of an item, etc. It's great to see another seller with a better reputation.
There are a lot of reasons why the Xpro2 is better than the Xpro3. You made the right choice. If you don't want to see your photos, turn of the shot review, DONE! There is no good reason to have inhibited the screen the way Fuji did. It only harms the experience, it doesn't help.
Great point - I had to get over the "uniqueness" of the X-Pro3 and think rationally about which one made the most sense for me to get. I actually do use the LCD screen now because I have access to it, so I definitely didn't need the hidden one.
About 90% EVF/10% OVF (usually only to conserve battery). I know people love the OVF feature but 1. I've always learned photography with an EVF (digital camera-wise) and 2. There have been a handful of times that I've framed the photo incorrectly or in the case of my film rangefinder, forgotten to take the lens cap off all together and didn't find out until I got my scans back from the lab 😂
I really appreciate smaller UA-camr like this for more real opinions
thank you!
Jeff - thank you for this! As someone who's still learning Fuji menus and settings, this is AWESOME information. I so appreciate it!!
Classic Chrome for me! 4 years with the x pro 2 and it's still going strong. Love this camera, feels so nice in the hand
switched to the x-pro3 from a x100f for exaaaactly the reasons you said!
the hidden screen is also definitely not a huge issue at all, once you get used to it it's good to go.
The small size is what made me start looking into the 27/f2.8 as well! Plus it's so inexpensive - I'm definitely waiting for that one to come out.
Literally just got an x-pro 2 4 days ago. Went with the 18mm, thinking of also getting the lens you bought.
18mm was another option i was looking into but ended up getting the 10-24 for additional zoom since i wouldn't be shooting wide angle too often. love the 35mm f2 though! and hope you're loving the xpro2 so far as much as i did even in the first few days!
Thank you for not using lofi hip hop beats over your video like every other identikit camera vlogger. It's refreshing.
Haha you don't know how much I appreciate this comment because it's not easy to find non-lofi NCS music that goes well in the background 😂
Smart choices, I'm sure your very happy with your decision. I picked up a used xt2 last year and my wife got me the 35 f2 as a gift. I love the Fuji system. Cheers 👍
Aw the best gift!! I love the xpro2 so far and the 35mm f2 is amazing (and hopefully you agree). I'm loving Fuji so far for sure
My absolute favorite camera ever.
Thank you for telling your thoughts why buying the X Pro 2. I just bought also a X Pro 2 and will get it in some days.
Will following your Chanel now!
Greetings from Germany!
thank you!!
Great video. You can't go wrong with the XPro2!
Thanks Jeff! Loving it so far
I'm shooting on the XT1 right now, and I love it. However I can't wait to get my hands on the X-Pro 2, thanks for your thoughts!
I've never shot the XT1 before but totally loving the X-Pro2! Thanks for watching!
I also picked up a xpro2 in the last year. My favorite thing about the camera is the hybrid viewfinder.
I moved from Nikon DX cameras to the Fujifilm X series in 2012 for one reason: prime lenses. Was one of my rare correct decisions. I now only have primes lenses for my X-Pro2.
I'm loving the 35mm f/2. Looking to add the 50mm f/2 or 90mm soon for portraits. Do you have any favorites?
@@indraneilbiswas wow awesome information - I love learning from these comments!
You and your girlfriend have a pretty awesome set up going! I love the xpro2 so far, I'm sure the X-pro3 is fantastic as well!
The 35mm f2 was my first Fujifilm lens too!! I just love my Fujifilm! I’m looking to pick up an X Pro1, will be my first rangefinder style camera...
Great option!
Amazing video! Exactly what I was looking for
Thanks so much!!
I hope you will enjoy shooting with your X-Pro2 😊 I’ve been shooting with mine since 2016.
I'm absolutely in love with it already!
@@Arianna-zx1ro yeah, I keep the free version on my phone basically for referencing when I'm out and feel the urge to tweak some settings.
Thank you so much!! And I've been shooting daily as well - it's awesome
I love my xpro2! I went for the 35MM 1.4 and love the focal length. Have fun!
Good choice!! Haven't tried the 1.4 version but I'm loving the 35mm (~50mm equivalent) focal length
Thank you!
Yes love this!! No matter what camera, love the mutual passion for photography.
I picked up an X-pro2 a few months ago and love it! I find that I always have the urge to take photos on it, one reason because the shutter sound is so satisfying... Watched so many videos on this camera / lenses and fuji gear and its cool to see a female photographer making content, so thanks 👍
Yes i 100% agree with the shutter sound and making you want to take more photos! Thanks for the comment!
Well-said!!
I use the GS645 for 120! And totally agree about the boost in creativity - I feel it already.
Great camera, Congrats and keep up with the good work. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
I have been highly considering this as well! I got an x100v for my EDC but love the 50mm focal length
I much preferred the 35mm lens over the 23mm lens on the X100 series as well!
You may already know about the Fuji X Weekly site, but they have recipes for various films that you can try.
I've got it bookmarked 😊. The guy who runs it is the real MVP
Muchas gracias!!! Me encantan tus apreciaciones. Tengo sistema fuji y compré una pen f por diversión 😁😁😁
I’ll have my xpro 2 this week I can’t wait.
Ah so exciting!
@@Arianna-zx1ro thank you! I’ve had it for about a month now and I love it. Happy new year!
@@Maxhuertas Yes love it!!
Welcome to the world of fuji cameras!
Stay well.
Another positive re the 16-55 is its speed - a fixed aperture 2.8 which has come in handy relatively often
@@Arianna-zx1ro Thanks again. Yes. we've managed to travel extensively since I mostly retired.
I only clicked after seeing the tumbnail. I thought it was one of the GFX series camera. The Xpro looks huuuge in your hands 😀
HAhaha my hands are TINY
i bought it in 2019.. i love it so much
I'm looking to get this camera in the next few weeks along with the 16mm.
If you like classic cameras
You should try the Olympus pen f released in 2016; it's a beautiful retro classic piece of art, very capable even on today's standards.
i like the pen f so much, i own two of them.
There are always trade offs! But with the 2 filters, that's a great deal.
Keep up the good work!
refreshing to hear! i didn't like the X-S10 because of the lack of controls but i know it's just as good
Try matching it with a black pro mist filter (specifically the 1/4 strength or 1/2) I believe you would enjoy the filmic look that it captures!
Great rig, been shooting with the “2” for 4 years.
hope mine will be that long too!
i always wanted to buy a fuji camera and i think this is the best option since i already have a nikon z 6 . the 100V looks nice as well , thank you for this video . i followed you on instagram to see more pic .
thank you!! i love the xpro2 so far so either choice would be fun!
I bought a used X pro 1 this summer and totalt love it. I also got a X100 (the first model) and a XT4. I will sell my Nikon stuff as soon I get a couple of more Fuji lenses.
love to hear it!! how do you like the x100?

Thanks for the video.. I, too, shoot both Olympus and Fujifilm, and can’t quite give either one up in favor of the other. :-)
Been looking for a graphite xpro2 on marketplace! I have an xt3 but im not that into it. I have 5 Fuji lenses and the 56 is my favorite.
Great choice! I'm very tempted to pick one of these up now that it's going down in price! Gonna watch the rest of your videos now haha 👌
I really want to get one, but it costs like 1400 Euros and the X-Pro3 about 1700, so I guess I'll just have to save up some more.
Mine was only $900 USD! I bought it used so that might help. still great condition
Looking forward to get mine. Probably arrives this week. Looking forward to a more user experience video with this setup!
Small note. I think you have to turn your open lens hood 180°. It has been made open so you can look thru it when using the ovf. Now it's blocked 😉
Super exciting! I actually didn't use the OVF at the point of filming this video so I had no idea haha, thank you!!
Here are what I found the differences between the 2 & 3
Ovf is better in 2 since it got 2 focal lengths
3 got extra film simulations and probably more in the future.
The 3 got titanium body
3 got better Evf
Paint on 2 is easier to fall off when it hit something
3 got better auto focus
Been owing 2 for nearly 5 years.it is an amazing camera, still loving it!
Good to know you still love the 2! 3 is hands down an upgrade from the 2 but all just "nice to haves" for me and not need-to-haves! Mirrorless cameras are so good nowadays anyways

I switched completely from canon full frame to fuji. At the time I have an xt-20 and an xpro 2
I love Fuji cameras. Addicted. I have an X100T, X-T2 and X-T20. Not interested in upgrading at all.
i'm currently shooting a borrowed XT-2 from a friend, its great actually.. makes me realize dated cameras aren't always a bad thing, consumerism gets us confused at times
After a few months, i have no regrets choosing the xpro2 instead of the xpro3! if anything, i saved enough money for an entire lens :)
there is a bit of difference between the X100 series and the X Pro series : interchangeable lens, and size
The X100 can fit in a jacket pocket pretty easily, and it basicaly fits in my hand, it's a bit smaller than an X-E line of cameras from Fuji
the X-Pro on the other hand is CHONKY AF for a rangefinder style camera, it is as heavy as some DSLRs, and definetly more than other fuji bodies, even high end ones like the X-T1/2/3 etc

Nice camera!
I use X-T2 and 35mm F2.
Take a lot of good pictures😀
nice! I'm definitely really liking the 35mm F2 so far
You bought it at the right time. About 1000 today.
I totally feel this! Haha my lens lineup keeps changing, but I hope I am set for a while! The X-Pro2 got me into Fujifilm! Such a great camera. Nice video - keep it up! 👍🏻😊
Haha I've actually subscribed to your channel because of your fuji videos! Definitely looking into the 90mm in the future. Thanks for the kind words!
@@Arianna-zx1ro Aw thank you for subscribing! It means a lot. I’m glad you enjoy the Fujifilm videos 🙃
The 35 f2 is such a nice lens.
i LOVE it!
100% still worth it! Images are beautiful and it's such an easy (and fun) camera to carry around.
Just discovered your channel, love your content!!
Thank you!!
Love that - glad I made a good choice!
Thank you for saying rangefinder-looking. Too many people talk about it being a rangefinder.

Torn between Xpro2 and X100v

Subbed! Looking forward for more content on the xpro2 :)
I appreciate it! You won't be dissapointed - I've got lots planned haha.
hi there, how is the noise performance? Mainly towards night street or like >800 ISO
I use a Canon 7DmkII and i also used the OG 5D (which is dead now) and tbh i am very inclined to getting a used 5DmkIII
Where I live, getting a used 5DmkIII is slightly more expensive (by like 100-ish tbh) than a X-Pro2.
@@Arianna-zx1ro i understand. thank you for taking time to reply to my query though! :D

Great video! Also nice colours in the video recording. Is it through the Olympus?
Thank you and yes! I love Olympus colors - no editing done on my end to the video colors
@@Arianna-zx1ro That's awesome!
How often do you use the OVF vs the EVF?
About 90% EVF/10% OVF (usually only to conserve battery). I know people love the OVF feature but 1. I've always learned photography with an EVF (digital camera-wise) and 2. There have been a handful of times that I've framed the photo incorrectly or in the case of my film rangefinder, forgotten to take the lens cap off all together and didn't find out until I got my scans back from the lab 😂
how did you get the kodachrome custom there?
FujiXWeekly's website!
@@Arianna-zx1ro omg! I never knew this... I've been missing out on so much 😭 I also use Olympus, wish they had something like this too
@@AliZaidi right?? I love Olympus colors but the film simulation recipes are a game changer!!
