Is it worth learning php 7 ,because php 8 is already out? Would it difficult for me to switch from php 7 to 8 ? I have a book about php 7 at home that's why I'm asking. Thx in advance.
PHP7 is almost 100% forward comparable with PHP8. that's one of the best things is that because of the number of legacy projects, PHP doesn't try to break too much stuff. Go ahead and do 7 or 8, it won't make a difference!
Genius 😂 the backend of our company is running entirely on php for over 5 years now on a relatively small server. It does a load of daily important tasks and if it crashes, the company is down…although we have backup servers. We never needed them because the php core scripts never failed. It just works…I do use Python (flask) for 1% of the backend ML functions But nobody interacts with it. Everything is handled by php. Flask did crash on multiple occasions. Why change a winning team?
I was recommending a client setup an app with php on my vps server that already had 20 apps on it. She asked what about scaling. I said. I'll be so happy her business grows so big that I have to scale it to a dedicated cloud. At the moment. No client has been able to break it on scale.
