As to the security in the area at 7:00 it is because one of the buildings with old designs in that area is the Principality & Police headquarters, and its where government officials & diplomats tend to go.
And you’ll find more tourist areas in north of Riyadh, it’s the modern part of the city, the south of Riyadh, where you filmed, its the ancient/old part of the city. So, it’s rare to find many people there.

You went to ONE of the heritage areas in Riyadh, the capital, Riyadh is a massive city and hopefully next time you visit you'll have the chance to visit other developed parts of the city. Great video and editing though 👍🏼

I worked for a year in Saudi in the mid-80s. A cheerless, dead sterile place. A virtual police state. Riyadh was, to put it politely, an uninspiring city. Glad to hear it's changing though I bet the police state is still there, just a little more hidden.

Thats correct that's because Riyadh was an touched nor colonized in whole its history unlike the western part of arabia it was under Turkish ottoman rule.

It’s very safe for all women. There are many expats who are not muslim and feel safe and not different than the saudis. You will enjoy it.
supremely safe,in islam both men,and women has to lower their gaze while looking other than their spouses,and it is followed
