Ima be real with you, I think Sonic 3 does a better job introducing Shadow and his internal conflict and struggles than SA2 did. That’s just me. So as far as first introductions go, Sonic movie 3 > Sonic Adventure 2
Yeah I liked the introduction a lot in the movie actually the movie did a lot of things better the best is shadow and Maria's relationship but the introduction was great
Shadows change wasn't exactly a slow burn. The story hints that shadows past might not be what it seems , with him remembering what she actually said, but his general view remains the same until the very end.
@smeeshy656 like I said, when actually playing through SA2 shadow doesn't slowly change in his views for revenge. It is literally and deliberately meant to be a quick switch to indicate this was more about honoring Maria than taking out his anger on the world. It's also ironic you think it's quick the movie when it sets up and consistently builds on the idea that shadow doesn't really want to wipe out humanity, but is just so filled with pain and anger he's convinced that's his only option. Not in SA2(which is the only game my comment is referring to). It's why his last words are asking Maria is this what she wanted.
While it might seem like a quick change in the games I do believe it was a gradual change later on mostly during the space colony, where the shift began. I think the games made it more effective because it was Amy. Amy had the pure mind that Maria has as well which was why it was better for her to talk than it was sonic like in the movie (even though it was effective in the movie) it just made more sense for his character in the games for it to be Amy. Thats why he asked Maria at the end as well. Oh and I'm keeping this Sa2 since that was the basis of the video, I think shadow becomes his truly peak a few games after but I won't divulge into that because I want to play shadow generations first before I go fully in depth. Either way I was never referring as the movie as a bad premise I just think that moment is weaker in the movie is all
@@smeeshy656 the issue is that by the time we get to the arc, for the climax , the story is nearly over and after this point shadows journey starts at anew beginning thanks to his amnesia. Also we barely know Maria in SA2 so how much she parallels Amy comes mostly down to assumptions. Then why did you bring up other games in your comment in reference to what I said? As well as the irony in you saying the movies did it fast when it seeded the idea much earlier than SA2 .
This is a good video, and Merry Christmas
Thank you, and merry christmas

In the movies it was very fast the games did them right.
His views do change past Maria though especially with later games

@@smeeshy656I think the movie did it better. While the games do flesh out Shadow a lot more, the movie nailed his debut better imo
