Great killer instincts and he's quite athletic. Hope the Dustin loss is a wake-up call for him to work more on his strategy. That kind of Jiri-like aggression can beat a lot of guys but it's going to get you finished against elite competition a decent amount of the time.
People have been lambasting Benoit for his loss against poirier, saying he should never have been the underdog, but I still think he looked fantastic and will have a fantastic career ahead of him, possibly even future champ
Killed peoples is not the same thing than boxing for more than ten years like poirier obviously he's less experienced than him and he's not ready for top 3 yet
Benoit is such a machine, makes you think how he lost such a brutal loss agains zaleski dos santos. I know it was on short notice but even still, he was absolutely demolished in that fight
Thing is the fight was up a weight class at welterweight, short notice like you said, and Benoit just kept standing with Dos Santos, I genuinely don't recall him getting knocked down at all during that fight. And the fact it was against someone who was likely off PEDs is even crazier. Benoit is literally "The God of War"
I think the combination of a complete lack of gameplan, his aggressive "always go forward" style and his toughness were the perfect storm for such a one-sided beating. He was basically walking into strikes not knowing how to respond and completely unwilling to quit.
the worst part about saint denis beating matt frevola is that matt beat the big dog, big bear, lion drew dober only to get headkicked cause he wasnt even fully looking at benoit or had his hands up while backing away. matt wasted the momentum he got with the biggest win of his career against the legendary crimson chin chad drew dober
The only thing i dont like is he doesnt move his head off the center line and that's the key path for victory for Dustin. But the man can eat some shots
He’s good but needs to work on his head movement and keeping those hands up. That’s why poirier being the great boxer he is was able to catch him with clean shots

His stand up has evolved so much but when he fights a striker with TD defense and power he's in trouble. Not very many out there so he's good for now. His takedowns look phenomenal but against who? He's good at relying on his opponent and guaranteed game plan. He will get lit up when he faces the top dogs who just get it done.
leaving his head high, dropping his hands when he jabs and throws a body kick, Porier isn’t gonna run away, he’s gonna make it scrappy porirers boxing is more defensive, bye bye BSD
