2.5% is what we were spending in 2010.
The minimum should be 3%
Not really Noto wasn’t size it was
@@ALAXUKNUTRITIOUS I don’t trust Europe to step up in a crisis. We need to be able to defend ourselves.
We should be spending 1% who do we need defending from the boogeyman??.
@@andrewlittlewood8057 ok Ivan
3.5% of GDP is what America spends. We spend a notoriously large percentage of our federal budget on the military (20%).
That's nice of Ricci to commit the Labour party to upgrade the army.
It’s clearly a trap
Rishi?
Literally came to say the same thing Tories have been in power for 14 years and now with no more than 6 months left they say lets make sure another administration spends more on defence.
@@wadestclair249 Rishi Rich.

2.5 in 5 years; what a joke!
A whole lot of nothing.. as usual.
That is a £70 Billion increase in military spending per year, between now and 2030. Hardly nothing.
@@HebrewsElevenTwentyFive yet the disabled are unsustainable, that increase alone is almost the entire pip bill. rishi logic right there.

Need to stop wasting the money first.
Whilst Poland are spending 4%+…. Wake up Britain… Ten years too late and still not enough…wake up
British people knows but it the government who don’t care , uk government and MOD care more about Ukraine
Its a start
To be fair Polands 4% is lower than the UKs 2.5%

@@Samthebritishgent UK economy are bigger than polish so what is the reason? the spending are depends on the budget of the country for Poland 4 percent will be enough
Should be 10% just to catch up
Should be more because we are on the verge of all out war
3% minimum
No we aren’t.
No we are not
Tinfoil hat time.
@@Bungle-UK it's slowly happening but not as fast
By 2030. What a joke
Shocking, and absolutely pathetic. It should be 3.5-4%. right now , Token number to match labor
What has Labour's spending plans got to do with Fishy?
Need to spend it on drones, marine and air defence, not expensive armoured vehicles for cheap drones to destroy.
And more money on the DragonFire Laser Weapon to shot drones or projectiles. More practical in the modern age.
Too little. Too late. Should be double. Today
2.5???
BY 2030???
should be at least 8% now
8% is overkill
3.5% would be fine for now
Whilst your sentiment is valid, your figures are way off! They couldn’t spend 8% now even if they had it.
As Luke said, 3.5 is far more realistic.
8% is pie-in-the-sky thinking.
It would mean NHS would have to start charging for basic stuff like GP appointments and scans for diseases. Ain't never going to happen, quite rightly.
2% is fine. Russia has exhaustede itself in Ukraine. Its hardly in a position to invade our Island.
2.5% of the UK GDP (3 trillion) is approximately 75 billion.
But we sell weapons & ammo to EVERY SIDE in every battle
It’s actually planned to raise to 100 billion pounds annually
Russian defence spending has been +30% for a while now.
I am not sure a single arms factory has been built in the UK since the start of the Ukraine war.
Russian forces might be near useless, but they sure are going to outnumber us when they roll into the Baltics.
and to pay for it working class people will get taxed more...
and more jobs for the working class too
UK is going in the right direction
😂🤣😂🤦🏽♂️🥴🤡
Should one cry or laugh. 2030 and 2.5% is laughable
5 years what is the matter with the people in charge, should be much higher than 2.5% right now.
By the time it will be to late
This is great news but unless we gut the MOD and start again, we'll just keep throwing money down the drain.
Finally someone is talking sense!
The amount of crap contracts we signed up to is just madness.
Clean up the MOD and get the right people to sign the right contracts
Nothing connected to Sunak is ever good news.
@@joancooley1387 this isn't all sunaks blame. This go way back to when Tony Blair was in power.
So infact it doesn't matter who the government it is, the people that work in the MOD won't change.
The MOD is what needs to be looked at. Sort that out and we are on a good footing
Needs to be more than 2.5% and it needs to be spent sensibly
About time. The fact that Greece has a bigger land army and airforce is tragic. Walk the walk.
The Austerity started in the early 60's for the Armed Forces, so it's been a underinvestment for a long, long time, we had a lot of USAF bases, which are no longer there now which provided the UK with Air Support, and we now have to rely on the French for Naval support, that's how desperate it has got.
No support for Veterans at all with many left homeless and abandoned by the UK government.
We also had national service as well, which should come back in some form or another, it would sort out this generation big time, other countries now in NATO have mandatory conscription, and it will have to come back to the UK sooner or later if the warnings are indeed true for the future.
And what weapons do the Greek use? Hand me downs? Generations out of date aircraft? Raw numbers does not win wars.
@@jacob3966Correct, one f35 equals 5 old f-16's that the greeks use.
2.5% pays for kevins 2 inhalers while he does TA every 4th saturday
@RocketRenton I wouldn't say naval support, the UK and France are equal in regards to naval strength.
Lol by 2030 kicking the can down the road. Ramp up production now it goes back into the economy.
I agree with spending more on defense. But why is Sunak announcing plans for 2030?
Because it takes time for industry to scale.
@@mcr2356 But he isn't going to be pm after 7 months.
@@neilthompson8668That's OK, it's a Blarite/Tory Uniparty. Probably an idea he stole from Labour.
@neilthompson8668 Labour have already committed to 2.5% though?
Communist globalist take over by 2030 chap. Labour-Blarite and Tory pretty much the same party.
We can't afford a war until the pot holes are fixed !! 🤬😠
We should be spending 4% now! Not 2.5% in 6 yrs time.
"we must prepare for war"
budget rises to only 2.5%
I don't think the UK economy will be able to sustain 3% GDP or greater if the government doesn't look at investing and fixing a lot of the issues at home
Meanwhile, English channel unsecure.
maybe this will help with that
@@icu17siberiaA well armed ferry service.
*We was already spending this under Labour in 2010. The Tories have slashed the defence budget, they are not good with the economy at all.*

Needs to be 5%. Huge reserve increase. We have fantastic people let's get them involved in defense at the weekend. More local reserve units not just large towns and cities.
Joke……should be 5-8%% now
so in all reality its0.5%. The Forces I suspect require total of 5% just to get the UK back anywhere near year
2000 equipment
Great news for UK taxpayers!
We might be on target to hit 2.5% military spending, but when much of that has to go to the preservation of Trident I do not see the situation for our troops changing. What we really need is to re-nationalise the recruitment process and get face-to-face recruitments back as fast as possible to fix our crisis in recruitment. Furthermore, the Navy and Armed forces also need huge amounts of money if we are to continue considering ourselves a first rate military, indeed at present we can barely call ourselves a second rate military with our two barely functioning carriers and our poorly equipped, undermanned regiments. If we cannot afford this, we should instead look to shifting the focus of our armed forces towards a more special forces focused army. The UK has the finest special forces in the world and if we were to expand this program and specialise into it, our troops could serve as the Spartans on the modern battlefield, supporting more conventional militaries through sweeping special forces action carried out by the best equipped and most skilled soldiers in the world. Alas, none of this will be done, as I doubt Sunak truly cares for our armed forces enough to enact this change, nor am I naïve enough to think Starmer will enact the necessary change either. Unfortunately it seems our military is doomed to fall into irrelevancy in a time where we are closer to all out war than we have been in many decades.
😢 we’re just going down hill
Is that just to pay for the diversity managers?
No the Tory’s have decimated the armed forces so there now working for gb news
that's the Drag makeup budget....
The aid package should be in the pockets of the people in this country not ukraine
its a scam - they're letting this country die and just funneling money away they don't want a middle class who can own their homes or have families, they just want enslavment and funnel away the money - the country is in tatters
UK should build a 8ft hedge around the country as a defence against any attack from European neighbours
I love seeing the UK spending on there military! Coming from the USA! UK is our strongest Ally. I trust the UK military then any other countries in Europe
Is this to defend the UK or everyone else around the world?
Both the UK and its allies
To attack countries that don't submit to the US and it's Western puppet allies
Chasing waterfalls.
The construct is failing.
its about dam time. safety has to be top priority
So no money for the most vulnerable but money to redrum small humans
By 2023?! WTF.. do it now.
That would mean it is done already.
Think your confused
He won’t do that he more interested in Ukraine, there got £500 million including 60 boats including offshore raiding craft, rigid raiding craft and dive boats as well as maritime guns
More than 1,600 strike and air defence missiles, as well as additional Storm Shadow long-range precision-guided missiles.
More than 400 vehicles, including 160 protected mobility ‘Husky’ vehicles, 162 armoured vehicles and 78 all-terrain vehicles.
Nearly 4 million rounds of small arms ammunition. What have uk got nothings new
@@emmagreen5767 expect so lol
It's not enough. Could be too little too late!
We have to wake up and face the grave threat to this country. Hope that both Labour and Conservatives make this a matter of national unity rather than division
I'm not sure if enough people understand what is happening - it's pretty complex and confusing - I think we have been De-
Clawed as a Nation, essentially from the inside - 'mistake' after 'mistake' after 'mistake' its ALL some sort of sick inside job or a prank - they want us broken, then we are malleable, weakened and humiliated instead of strong, unifyed and productive.
Rishi tells us we will keep spending what we have already been spending for decades, ... twonk
To fight who?
👻 ghost
It's 2.3 in 2024 so its's not much of a rise until 2030.
Good. They can defend France which is only able to spend the cost of a soggy baguette for their own liberty..
Simple question! Where is this extra money going to be spent on?
Yeah we need to increase it to 2.5% yesterday. We need more like 3% over 2 parliaments to get back to where we need to be, and then another decade at that level to maintain
NHS going Down, Warfare going Up.👍🔥💥
Exactly!!! - oh I wonder WHO proffits from the War Games? Not the many many people of THIS isle... just the few who find it funny to have the country on it's knees?
Does the UK have any defense force ? Where is that money going to , maybe to be wasted in Ukraine

Lol! Russia will be begging for an IMF bailout long before then.
@@justonecornetto80 Russia will be combat ready by then while UK armed forces will be even smaller considering how things are going 😂
This is pathetic, but England is turning into a pathetic politically correct country. UK needs £400 billion pounds a year military budget.
Why now and why not last year or the year before
Can Australia spend less on British defence now? ‘Cause the burden of these bludgers is irritating.
But can't give pay rise to young doctors.
exactly!! Technocratic 1% Elitist nonsense! Just a Joke to them! They think its funny to take from the working people and spaff it all away, just write some numbers here - write some number's there - keep everyone else down and on the back foot, life in luxuary - 'WHO' is better than the working people? Seems like two different views of the world - shouln't be in power if he has never worked a regular job like the rest of the country, can't possibly relate to the Blood, Sweat and Good Work of the People.
What about the homeless vets ?
Or simply the homeless natives ?
Or soaring cost of living ?
Wasting OUR money as this country isn’t worth fighting for !
Deliberatly breaking down and humiliating the Country, wanting to put us all under WEF/WHO constraints of 'thankful slavery' to the technocrat overlords .... no house no car no family no identiy as a country, it's a joke to those 1%er's and their chummy mates
1% UNDER what it should be now
Should be and could be more if they taxed the rich or the big companies. Just not the poor or disabled.
Good but it needs to be 3%, can’t keep asking others to do it if we won’t do it our selves.
finally. about time they properly defend their tea stores!
2.5%? It is not increase, but just restoration to 2010 level. 3% to 5% of GDP was normal before collapse of Soviet Russia of cold war era.
Still not enough......
By 2030? What goods that if the money is needed now! Maybe the public will have to start a whip round, or patron account for the UK armed forces! Unbelievable!
We wont need the extra money available straight away, we place the orders now and the spending increases over time as goods are produced. So development costs will be one or 2 years and then 2030 is when the extra money is needed to produce. So the plan over time is spot on.
Should be at least 5%
Where is the money going to come from? Let me guess, we will have austerity for poor....
Our Dear Rishi can foot the bill from his personal pocket! - I'm sure he won't mind or feel the pinch!
To provide more weapons for Ukraine? Shaking the money tree when there is failing infrastructure? Can we currently afford this?
Rishi, who loves this country and the people in it so much, can donate out of his personl pocket, I'm sure he won't feel a thing!
Cant even defend the channel from invaders everyday lol
yeah becasue they make money with their mates when they book them into hotels together on their governemnt contracts, they've let the country be defiled and ruined, so dangerous now we had a lorry load turn up in the back of one of our lorrys, I refused to good's - in that stock covered in body fluid, and little knives they've been smuggle d in - half of them ran off the others were shut back in with the forks untill police arrive - too many to control country isn;t safe from the inside because they are desprate starving young men of fighting age with no jobs or anything its so wrong in so many ways this had been allowed to happen deliberatly they want the country broken there is no pride left
There's nothing more unedifying than an incontinent old former emperor still swinging his sword around in the wilderness looking for people to fight so he can prove he's still relevant.
We should match our defense spending per capita to Ireland.
And this is the best we can do,??? We are doomed !!! 😳
As the representative of our country,I wish Sunak would stand up straight. His slouching shows an inkling of insecurity.
Doesn’t mean a thing. Next government could change everything
Take from the poor & needy to give to the rich & greedy, that’s the Tory way.
Just like others have said it is about time!
We need a stronger force especially in these times.
Lets settle for 3 and work to 5
And spend less of this increase on the very questionable Babcock contracts and pricing ....
Stand by for more dodgy contracts, back handers and wasted money. We need to buy some German and South Korean kit instead of commissioning vehicles that make our soldiers deaf. Also, don't forget to buy some HIMARS.
Sod that increase it to 4 or even 5% take the money from those who choose not work and those entering on the boats
well done UK
Not nearly enough but a step in the right direction. Finally a vaguely sensible decision from this clown car if a government.
😂😂😂😂........All this to face a country such as Russia? Wow....just wow.
does this mean decent accommodation and sorting out the pension?
More money we don't have down the drain, debt mountain rising...
Oh heavens to bettsy... Grinning Rishi has kicked the very small can down the road again!!
Yea too slow, turtle paced! What 6-years from NOT? My my!
Those are rookie numbers
As a starter I hope
Not going happen , we not Ukrainian so he don’t care ,
By 2030? So... that's for the Chinese military?
