- In this video I plant up the Vertplanter lift hydroponic planter for the first time and give my first impressions of it. I have also filmed some time lapse footage of seeds germinating on the surface of the planter showing how the roots grow over the surface of the planter.

How do you fertilize the plants though? LOVE the time lapse!
I'm glad you enjoyed the time lapse, you can use liquid feeds, just add them to the water and the feed will slowly seep out to the plants dissolved in the water.
@@Gardeningat58N thanks!
Wonder if a cheap version could be made by roughing up a terra cotta wine cooler
Yes if its unglazed terracotta it should work, although the porosity won't be perfect so it will either be a little too dry or the water will seep out so you will need to make sure it has a tray to collect the water.
how’s it doing 2 months later?
I wonder if mold ever becomes an issue if this pot is constantly damp, any idea?
It depends on if there is something that the mould can eat, so far I've not had any mould issues.
I second the fertiliser question. Do you do part a and b hydroponic solution? Tempted to try it for one of my orchids. It's already growing in lecca.
Yes you can use hydroponic solution or any liquid feed, although two part hydroponic feed would work better long term as normal liquid feed for soil can cause the water to become too acidic over time.
Hold up, didn't Terraplanter have a patent on this? This design was made by Terraplanter, one of those incredibly successful kickstarter campaigns. Did the patent end, I wonder?
