I couldn't believe that part!!! I was in shock over that!!! I felt she was familiar with this behavior and had practiced it successfully many times. I "feared" the police were all part of the scheme. Feared that they wouldn't care if she was lying, that he was in no easy threatening her, or that there was video/evidence to prove all of this. I'm encouraged that this worked out this way!!!

This sort of behavior by the entitled white female drenches every single facet of American life. The American court system is a perfect example of that. White females are treated like a victim from the onset, and they MILK IT to the max! In this case, she actually told him exactly what she was going to do before she did it, trying to make her victim feel powerless! If I were a man born in America (regardless of race) I'd think twice before having children, and think five times before ever getting legally married. Especially as a man of color. The court system will destroy your life sooner or later.

Imagine being so blinded by racism that the first thought you have when a black person is trying to tell you something is to call the cops on them.
Because they feel they’re privileged and that the rules don’t apply i them. That’s why they love trump, he doesn’t play by the rules. He believes he’s above them.
She didn’t call the cops because the guy was telling her something. She called the cops because she wanted the guy to stop recording her. She knew she was on camera and did this anyway. Just like Derek Chauvin killed that guy knowing he was being recorded. @Gary P I think you may be on to something. It failed her, but she clearly thought she had it. Make no mistake about it, when you honestly think on it and look at the definition of privilege (a special right, advantage, or immunity granted or available only to a particular person or group - Google) and the history of this country, it should be immediately clear that White people can not truthfully claim they never had it. If you are given a 5-minute head start in a race (an advantage), that advantage doesn’t just disappear just because the other runners are finally permitted to run at the end of your head start - even if you stop running. But you wouldn’t stop running in a race, would you? So the question is how much of a lead (privilege) do Whites still have? I’ll come back to that.
There was a time that a White woman could claim a Black man looked at her funny and, true or not, that Black man would be hanging in a tree before the next day. No “he said, she said” - no one even cared to hear his side of the story.

Ok, how about Susan Smith in 1971; she had the nation in an uproar, police swarming Black neighborhoods and gathering up Black men to find the carjacker that killed her 2 young kids, except…she killed them and lied to America and America believed her.
Black people were vilified (again) and horribly harassed, however, she eventually went to jail for it, but check out the Innocence Project and you’ll see that a lot of [White] people were successful in getting Black people imprisoned - decades they’ll never get back.
You ever see the clip of the White NYPD officer who goes after the Black store security guard who was in a scuffle with a White shoplifter? The ability of a White person to be automatically believed or assumed the right or innocent in a situation over a Black person is the privilege that Amy attempted to invoke. It didn’t work for her, this time (probably had something to do with her dog still not leashed). This is a privilege that White people have [ab]used for decades and I believe that privilege is slowly being revoked due to gross abuse.
The OP is saying White people could’ve used their wealth and influence to truly make America a powerful, multi-cultural beacon for other nations to emulate, but instead, it was used to maintain/increase their status over minorities. Without racial equality, America will never reach her full potential.
A fairly sound metric of racial equality of a nation would be an organic (not forced) representation of all groups in all facets, occupations and socioeconomic levels of that society’s population. Meaning, if the national poverty level is 11%, then ALL groups would be around 11% (last I saw, it was 9% for Whites and 25% for Blacks!). Likewise for percentages of: middle-class, wealthy, business owners, prisons, academics, healthcare, movies and just overall treatment. Demographic representation of all races is hard to achieve if mistreatment and denial of opportunity (oppression/repression) for specific groups is prevalent. Liberty and Justice for ALL.

I had an incident few months ago. My sociology professor at a time ripped my exam in from me and the whole class. When I tried to take a picture and record the situation he flipped out. He was a white man and he was not happy. When I said I need to talk to you for ripping my exam he said do not record me or I will report you to the police. To that I said go ahead I did nothing wrong I just want to know why you ripped my exam in front of me. So instead of dealing with this blindly, I went to the Dean of Student to report what just happened. Apparently when I was talking to the Dean the Chief of University Police was asked to arrest me as I was in suspect of having a gun. I was lucky enough to be protected but it is certainly true that now I look back at it the Professor at the time used his White supremacy and wanted to use that racist power over me.

If COVID-19 wasn't going on I would like to think Amy Cooper would be prosecuted. Police and the court system are not entertaining non-violent crimes at the moment. Even if she did get arrested and did get a court date she STILL wouldn't get her just desserts. Going off topic a bit, but this is why Aunt Becky (Lori Loughlin) took the deal regarding the college admissions scam. Rumor is since this is her first offense (and it's a nonviolent crime) she will get to serve her time @ home instead of in prison. So to get back on topic to Amy Cooper, had she been prosecuted she might have just served her minuscule time in her apartment instead of in jail. Yes, she would have a record, but I am not sure if staying in your apartment to serve your time (which she was already doing due to COVID-19) is really teaching Miss White Privilege anything. Fingers crossed she never works in her profession again!

This woman is truly horrible. She was outraged about being asked by a birder to follow the law and leash her dog who was scaring the birds. She felt entitled to break the rules and she also though she could mess this guy up by sicking the cops on him. Maybe, like in so many other case, the cops might take her lies seriously and kill this man. This is truly despicable behaviour on her part and there should be consequences for such behaviour.

It's fascinating how the Black American citizens are referred to as "African Americans", the citizens with Oriental looks as "Asian Americans", so on and so forth, even if they are born and brought up in America. But the "White Americans" are called just "Americans" even though the whites originally came from different parts of European countries. So why not "Irish Americans" or "Scottish Americans" or "European Americans" altogether? People forget that America is a stolen land from its original people "The Red Indians". The people who rightfully deserves to be called the true Americans are The Red Indians. But the whites who invaded America took away that birth right by naming them The Red Indians. The "European Americans" ought to remember that everyone living in America has equal rights and stop this nonsense.
It has always seemed strange to me also that they divide themselves like this but white americans do it too. I've never met an american person who when asked where are you from? Never answers with a simple America, instead they almost always qualify the answer with italian/ scottish/Irish etc.. even though their connection to that country is so far in the past as to be irrelevent. Even when you meet an italian american and italian native they are so far apart in attitudes, behaviour gestures humour even food that it is plain to see they are two totally seperate cultures albeit obviously influenced it is astounding to me that they still have to qualify their nationality. I mentioned this only the other day as a reason why America will never be at peace with itself until they can learn to be one unit and people.

The thing is, though, I don't think any Amy Coopers are going to reach their epiphanies by talking about their thoughts. There might be something deeper, more fundamental, going on with some people and one of the ways it manifests is racism. 'African American' was just the icing on the cake. It was just another weapon (possibly the most dangerous one) in her arsenal that she found the opportunity to use. Some people just live their lives thinking they are better, more entitled and superior - and they never come upon that moment of self inspection that many of us do at least once.
I just can't believe she felt threatened for one moment. Indignant (for being told to abide by the rules), okay, but threatened by a bird watcher? It's impossible to mistake a bird watcher for somebody wanting to do you some harm. I think she just didn't like being caught in the wrong - and she really, really didn't like it that somebody black was the one to do it. People watching birds are usually calm and quiet. Possibly covered in moss or leaves. They carry binoculars and sandwiches. About as non threatening as it's possible to be!

There definitely needs to be prosecution - false police report, threats, racial hatred, animal abuse...and she should also be looked into for any other reports she has made. This video missed off one of the most chilling things. In her call she acted intimidated and begged them to come quicky because she was in imminent danger. How many people has she pulled this stunt with? How many ex partners have had to deal with this? This woman needs serious consequences for these horrific crimes against this man. I'm disgusted she has not been arrested and charged!
