KISS - God Gave Rock And Roll To You - Cover - Sara Loera - Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy
This is an interesting song for me, on many levels.
In 1991, it just so happened that I was working with Gene Simmons from Kiss and Bob Ezrin for songs to be placed on two records - "Carnival Of Souls" and "Revenge" - at the time "God Gave Rock And Roll To You" was recorded for Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey.
Of course I know that this song was originally recorded by the band Argent, and this was a cover, but Bob Ezrin did an absolutely killer job on production!
Sara Loera had suggested that we do this song, as she loved it, and I thought it would be a challenge.
And indeed, it was a challenge! I challenge you to listen to the instrumental track that we created and notice all of the very intricate parts that go into it (kind of like its own version of Bohemian Rhapsody in some ways).
Nonetheless, I think we pulled it off, and I hope you enjoy listening to this song as much as we enjoyed making it for you!

Before I watched this I knew Sara would do this justice. Love her voice. KISS in my opinion are the benchmark for rock and roll bands. They just recently performed at the AFL grand final, 100 000 in attendance at the MCG and millions watching on TV. The rocked it.
God gave us Ken & Sara to bless our ears!

Sara is excellent! Front singer easily. No doubt because of you, Ken. I’m not fooled my friend. You do this intentionally because you love singing so much. You help people who wouldn’t stand a chance in the rock scene and help make them stars on whatever level.
That’s just so incredibly human of you man. So cool.
Wish I’d known you in the 80’s when I was afraid to sing, but back then, you were just playing guitar like I was, right? So it wouldn’t have mattered back then.
What you teach in singing is phenomenal and I’ve learned a lot about the techniques involved. What you actually do for people and their confidence, is so much better. Nobody has heard of your excellent students before, but here they are now singing their hearts out, in the spotlight you helped create. That’s just angelic man. So cool.
Wish I wasn’t a year older than you and just learned to sing from you as a kid just winging it. I could have been a star. But nope, I just did okay, my voice is what it is, on key without much range. I could have been much better but I’m 60 man. Yet, I still lead our band on the barges and you know that story. You inspired me to keep on doing this and my only pay is the laughter and enjoyment of watching the younger guys try to keep up with the harmonies. It’s so fun man.

Oh and PS: Factoid, this song is historically correct too, rock and roll's invention is usually credited to Sister Rosetta Tharpe, a Pentecostal music minister. She signed a contract with a record company and lost creative control and had to record secular songs. Once her contract ended she went back to doing her rock and roll sound as a type of worship music.
That's some cool information. I play drums in a pentecostal praise band. I've been reborn by the Lord and I still play rocknroll drums in the music we play and it works great
