I'm sure most viewers would agree Johan, that we can see the pride in your eyes, when you're talking about the work you're undertaking. And so you should be proud, mate. This project is colossal!
Johan, we all feel your pain through the on-going board sanding these past weeks. Your attention to detail, the tips you give us as your project continues, combined with the pictures of spring in Sweden is a true testament of a man in love with his labor. We are proud of your family and they in turn should hold you in the very highest regard as a father with purpose and extreme talent. May your garden grow well this summer and we are hoping for some recipes to copy for our own consumption. Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful build.
Since last week's episode of your video I went back to see how it started with Ran 1 a week after that I have watched 220 episodes of your video not even Spielberg and George Lucas have managed to maintain as long a run as you do is so good that I would call it pure Volvo, I am a craftsman with 50 years of experience with photo and image processing (Photoshop, Studio Max, etc.) as well as my own company for 25 years making prototypes of everything in wood, iron, Alu, leather , what you do is first class and the best vlog I've seen on YT it seems like junk, so you got 220 likes from this week
That long boarding looks brutal. I think if I spent a day doing that, plus wearing a mask which make it harder to breath, it would probably almost kill me. You are incredible Johan.
This pain that you are experiencing now from the sanding work and the tasks that will follow will be the objective equivalent of the happiness that will be achieved for you and your honorable family when you travel the seas of the earth in a ship of your own making, thus achieving the ultimate freedom of the spirit and the pleasure of great achievement. We are here watching your achievements in every weekly episode and witnessing your ingenuity and mastery. I would like to thank you for letting us sharing those moment with you.
The hull is taking on excellent form. The portion you have ready for the base coat looks nice and fair. You probably feel like the incredible hulk with all that sanding. Glad you got through the pain. I can't even imagine doing that much sanding. All I can say is that I hope your get a lot of encouragement from our comments to keep you going. Thanks for sharing your videos each week! 🏆🏆🏆🦾🦾🦾
over the many years i have watched, you haven't compromised your efforts, attention to detail is for some a moral compass. the art i am struggling to personally learn in near 60yrs, has been to appreciate my own hurdles and give myself praise, i take energy from you videos, taa.
Hi guys, I used to prepare and paint GA aircraft and I completely understand the need for perfection in the preparation, it’s 95% of the paint job. You will reap the rewards of your work when you finish the top coat. You guys should and will be proud of your work.
Johan. Fabulous work ‼️ No need for a gym. LOL💪🏻 You r families have to be so proud of such determination and motivation. B. R. A. V. O. ‼️ Looking forward to the next step. See you next time. ✨ 🌊 💨 ⛵️ 🏝️ 👙 🌞 ✨
After long day of fairing I'm glad I can finally rest in bed looking at someone else doing the exact same stuff 😂 by the way it's a really nice comment about hours flying by, music and podcast, meditation and sanding 👀
Hi guys, job well done.Take my hat off. I know how hard it is. I did this for a living 30 years ago on 50 to 70 footers. I thought things would have changed. One thing we did was spray on a very thin waterbased grey coat as a checking coat. When all faired, we would spray paint a very thin coat of glossy epoxy primer to have a last check for fairness. Keep up the good work both of you. Enjoy your videos.
Well done Johan! I once built a 4m clinker ply sailing dinghy and I thought the sanding and fairing phase was going to kill me. I felt your pain throughout the process of doing your boat and and I think you must be superhuman to take on that amount of longboard pain. Thank you for another great video.
Absolutely my favorite UA-cam channel! ... You guys are amazing for many reasons, you are raising your daughter (and showing what is possible balancing and building a boat) we as viewers can't experience what pressures you're going through. You have to earn enough to support yourselves and build this 50' boat. The mental fortitude that you both have is what impresses me the most, this is a monumental endeavor. The days of families building a boat passed us in the US since the 70's, most people can't change a tire here! Anyway, kudos to you both for sharing and makingh it work!
Tip For long intens work I highly recommend an over pressure filter-mask. It will blow air in the mask. Saving you the energy of making onder pressure for air. 3M™ Versaflo™ TR-300+ Series PAPR Systems. You are doing amazing.
Good for you man!. I love to watch you just keep chipping away at that project while we chip away at our projects. A little each day we can accomplish amazing things! Humans are amazing! Keep up the great videos coming and keep up the good, hard work everyone!
Yes humans are amazing. We get told constantly that AI is gonna take over all our jobs tomorrow, but Johan demonstrates that humans are waay more than just a few neuronal connections in a blinking box.😊
Nice! Johan, rest up for a week and then challenge your old buddies to some arm wrestling. I would bet on you 100% of the time! Super good looking hull.
Your body is going to be like a piece of ironbark (very hard native Australian wood) by the time you complete this fairing. Keep going mate, you’re doing well! 😎🦘
Absolutely herculean task - your endurance is phenomenal. Basically, if you want to achieve the impossible, just ask a Viking to do it!! A masterclass in dedication - even Mads would be hard pressed to achieve this. Congratulations from the UK!
Johan we have been watching you guys from when you got Ran 1 and have enjoyed every video. I don’t know how you keep up such a busy busy hard working schedule. Be careful and maybe take a day off occasionally.
U r doing a great job with the fairing! And y’all did the glass work perfectly! I’m a professional finisher & have been watching ur progress! Excellent! If only there were another dozen r so helpers, U would b finished by now! LOL Keep scrubbing! It will b perfect b4 U know it! The secret is the crosshatch pattern U r using 2 sand with the long blocks! Only tip I can offer U is keep the longboard parallel with the floor as U sand at 45* angled strokes! 👍❤️ 16:28
I know your pain brother. I spent the better portion of an entire building season (frozen out in winter) fairing my hull. I called it the "SandInsanity". Took two years for my shoulders to recover. You're doing great. The pain and effort will be reflected in the beautiful job you're doing. Cheers! Rick @mvshekon
Outstanding! You're doing one of my least favorite parts of building, but you're taking it in stride! Well done!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 Take good care! Cheers from Guam! 🇬🇺
I understand the work involved and how little it shows on film, but standing in front of your work you can see it plainly and I also understand the sense of pride for a job well done. You are doing a great job Johan and you are inspiring others.👍
Yuan it looks fantastic all the sanding watt you are doing is so beautiful you will see wen the first coat is coming up the boat watt a wonderful job you have done chappoo👍👍👌👌
Johan you must be a very strong men after al this hard sanding. Respect for the hard work you are doing. Think its going to be a perfect boot and you must be motivated by al the nice trips you wil going to make with here. Succes and keep on going.
I have 30+ years experience with paint and body work on show cars, and I think you’re doing a great job. The time spent on the small spots now, will be worth it when you paint. If you didn’t fix the small spots, you would certainly regret it later. I agree that sanding can be quite meditative, and enjoyable, even though at times it seems like you’ll never finish, the sore muscles will be worth it in the end. Just wanted to give you a word of encouragement, and tell you you’re doing a great job. Also, I love the homemade sanding pad, it would have helped me in many situations.
😀😀👍👍👍❤ As always very nice work. I hope you are able to slow your speed down a little and enjoy all the work to come. 25 years from now an extra 6 months now won't make any differance at all. It's like wanting your child to grow up to fast. Again, beautiful work, indeed! Bye for now from Seattle, WA. (Northwest USA)
Heroic effort there with the torture boards, Johan. Well done. Love the cottage garden development and that spring Crocus looks beautiful. Best regards.
That's great getting your vegetable garden ready, it's going to be great. You are continuing to do such a great job fairing the hull. That's a massive job Johan, well done man. Great vlog :)
For podcasts I recommend Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History. I’ve listened to him while digging up roots to a big tree. I was so engrossed in the story I didn’t even notice how hard the work was.
Watching Johan sand is exhausting _ME._ 😅 After all that workout, you won't need the crane to flip the boat over -- he'll just carry it out and toss it in the air like Popeye. ⚓👍
You are not overdoing it to fare the hull to perfection. I worked in a boat building operation for two years and our small team of 1 or 2 people did it exactly the same way, though these were all fiberglass hulls. We did have the benefit of having "all hands on deck" days for the final longboard sanding and faring. You are doing beautiful work! Namaste. 🙏
Hi Johan, your hull is coming along fine and now is the time to get all the small imperfections out as once its finished you will notice the small hollows and bumps. I follow some car restoration guys on TV and they go to the same effort to get a good finish. Keep up the good work. Cheers Ian
I am truly amazed at what two hard working people can accomplish to chase heir dreams. You 2 impress me. What you have accomplished in this relatively short period time is amazing. Thanks for sharing, I really enjoy your build. Videos. Your boat is going to be amazing. Cheers 🍻
Wow you are amazing, both Johann of course with your patience, physical strength and mental abilities/humor; Malin by making a your farm to a living space and keeping your eyes wide open to all the beauty your surrounded. Man, you are tough! I am going to increase my Patreon contribution with the hopes that you use it to get yourself a massage or two! You definitely deserve it!.
I look forward each week to see what you are up to! Yohan, when you are done sanding you'll be stout enough to turn her over all by yourself! 🤪 I'm an old craftsman who knows good work when he sees it.

my hat off to you!!...that is a LOT of work and my arms hurt just watching you sanding....well done, amazing work!
Great way to take a break from back breaking long board sanding, by boring holes in dirt with a manual auger. What a machine he is 😂

These videos are gold to me! You really help me to figure out the methods to be used! 😊😘
There's only so much sanding one can do....until it's done. What a workout!
For podcasts I recommend Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History. I’ve listened to him while digging up roots to a big tree. I was so engrossed in the story I didn’t even notice how hard the work was.
One day in future the hard work (sanding) will reward you. Good work in base makes it easier later on. Keep on going and remember to rest.😎
The patience and skill of this man is just amazing, Johan always does the best job!!
You're going to be ripped after all this sanding, Johan! 😂
Watching Johan sand is exhausting _ME._ 😅 After all that workout, you won't need the crane to flip the boat over -- he'll just carry it out and toss it in the air like Popeye. ⚓👍
'We are fairing and sanding the hull" I wish there was footage of Malin sanding too? Anyways love the channel, what a great couple you are!
Just unbelievable! How this guy can work the hull of his future yacht mainly manually
Like grinding and polishing a telescope mirror, but on a grand scale!
Amazing job. Thanks for sharing your project and family with us.
Thank you RAN for 386...
