Hey Daniel and Rex i was hoping you MBs could do another video about making homemade blends of whiskeys to obtain a certain flavor profile. Like salty and sweet, and I think I just made the best blend known to man. 75% Bunnahabhain 12 and 25% Ardbeg Uigeadail, while Laphroaig watches from the corner stewing in jealousy. Please try and enjoy, its like roasting a Chocolate Raisin with Caramel on the fire with Sea Salt. Glorious!
Greetings from Carlsbad, CA
"Dance for me PUPPETS! DANCE!"
The editing of this episode is completely on point 😂
Starting my day right with these two
These guys are a comedy team - or married
Rex has reached a point at which he's just a bathrobe away from being legally required to change his last name to Lebowski.
Epic moment! Loved it when Daniel said “You are gonna fit in so well at the old folks home.”
Why have i associated the theme song with 95% of my dopamine release.
Because you've lost control of your life
So true. This music makes me happy inside.
facts
Thanks for the re-review of Horse Soldier. Seems like you got a signed bottle by Mark Nutsch, The Commander of O.D.A. 595. The Green Berets who road horses and fought against tanks!!
Damn, the humor in this episode. Between Rex' clothes and Fancy Dan's psychology humor...just a classic episode
They’re like two versions of my personality. One, I’m a picky snob whose losing hair at a rapid rate, and at the same time I’m too lazy to replace the tp in the tp holder, angering my wife to no end. And that’s why I love you guys.
Fancy Dan throwing shade: The Episode
The movie about the soldiers is called "12 Strong". In case anyone was wondering!
There's a book as well worth the read
“I’m a Hassar I’m a hun. I’m a wretched English man. Routing Bonaparte at Waterloo. I’m a dragoon on a Dunn, I’m a Cossack on the run. I’m a horse soldier timeless through and through.” - Corb Lund
“Everyone knows of the enzymes... the kicking off of the enzymes..”
-Rex
I would be that audience, sir. Bring on the fiddly-bits exploration tribe episode (and don't forget to mention Mckenzie River Whiskey when you do)
Yo Rex, I’d be interested in hearing you pick apart labels and branding
Came for the rare whiskey, stayed for the finger rings.
I love these Friday videos when I can drink with them. Cheers dudes.
Daniel: “here’s the thing🧐”
Rex: 🙄
😂
Homeless sheik is called derelicte and is high fashion! Refer to zoolander please.
Derelicte 🤣
I love Dan’s close up of Rexs ever growing quarter cask while Rex talks about his physical prowess. Love it.
10th Street is a great design. Nice, simple and classic look.
Fancy Dan's monitor thoooo!
"How long do you think I can go?" "Oh I know, I know how long." THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID
Y’all in super rare form in this video. It amazes me how Daniel is able to breath through Rex’s never ending shenanigans! Priceless indeed
This is the most off-the-fucking rails episode you ever had.🤣
Berries and cream, berries and cream... I'm a little lad who likes berries and creaaaaaaam.
If you need a custom coin guy. Shire Post Mint makes awesome coins.
I am on a diet, so I'm having fun living vicariously through you guys for a while. Thanks for what you do.
Ahh.. I have seen Horse Soldier here around me in FL.. going to have to try.
Horse Soldier Bourbon...great story....but you did review this on 7/10/2019, c'mon guys this one's a benevolent donation
Guys - the bottle "fiddly bits" idea is great. I love a well designed bottle and label
And they'll all say, "That magnificent bastard right there is a real hoopy frood. Really knows where his bottle socks are."
Dunning Kruger is so real, an this so totally exemplifies it by the master mooch. Luv you guys
Wyatt Earp started in Dodge City KS then moved to Tombstone AZ. I have to try this whiskey.
Rex likes lounging? I never would have guessed... 😂
I was so waiting for Fancy Dan to photo-shop a jester's hat or something onto Rex's head.... Reminds me of the commercial for Parkay.... "It's not Nice to fool with Mother Nature" (thunderclap) People standing in gasoline shouldn't play with matches lol Too funny!
Daniel making fun of Rex's pants got me creasing up hard 😂
Love fashionista Rex. If Daniel enjoys clothes shopping, he should dress Rex.
What's up everybody!?! Happy Friday!!!! I'm schmoking a Macanudo Inspirado Red robusto, sipping some Wild Turkey 101. Tell us what your sipping while watching? 🤔🥃
HAHAHA Fancy Dan...please never change with your editing. So many laughs.
The SPOONLORD has spoken!
Rex is the human embodiment of a lounge chair sufficiently old to be past its prime in comfort but the owner lies to themself about the back pain it causes to obviate themself from the obligation to go furniture shopping.
'Pomp & Circumstance' sounds like a great name for a Crowded Barrel whiskey release.
Daniel and rex I would love to see an episode about whiskey stones the types and how there used and your likes and dislikes on whiskey stones thanks guys if you decide to do this or if you have already, Please point me toward the vid please
Hey guys! Since you tasted an MGP-sourced bourbon today, it reminded me: Can you do a tasting comparison of George Dickel Rye and Bulleit Rye sometime? They both use the same MGP whiskey with a 95% rye mash bill, and the only difference between them I can find is that the Dickel (heh) is charcoal filtered. If you could talk about about the difference in process between them, that would be super cool!
In regards to the farmer-distiller thing, American farmers would often distill part their surplus crop bc the booze would stay longer and could be used to barter for things they needed. This practice was so prolific that “The whiskey rebellion” sprung out of a tax on farmers engaging in this practice
While in the realm of bullshittery, jackassishness and all around shenanigans, I rarely side with Daniel, his take on Rex's subtlety is on point. Rex truly has put the capital B in subtle..
I missed the episode last week, but went back to watch it. Man, was it worth it.
There was so much time left in the video I thought there was more whiskey. But it was just shenanigans. We have gone so long with minimal shenanigans that I didn't even suspect shenanigans.
Gads! I bought a bottle of this in Indiana about a year ago, drank it, enjoyed what they were doing, and never realized it was rare! I wish I had kept it.
holy shit this episode was gold. we'll have to start calling him sassy dan soon.
I live about 15 minutes from the Middle West Distillery, I love their products!
Love y'all. Y'all showed me that whisky ain't all bourbon.
Rex: You may be right, but I’m not wrong!
Why does FanCydaN have a Hungarian Noble's dress from the renesance period?
Why do you not?
@@thealtered7 oh I dooo... I do....
Idk, but "save that money" was the most important part.
Tombstone is a few miles away from me in good old southern AZ.
Kansas got nothing on us guys!
Thank you for the informative notes Fancy Dan!!
Neat to hear Middle West mentioned. I don't have access to many of the small whiskey brands, since you can't ship to Ohio. I really enjoy Middle West's stuff.
Jack White says: You spelled my name wrong......Now the Seven Nation Army is coming to confiscate all of your Whiskey.......
It’s the intro within the intro...So Meta😏😏😏
I know that Austin is full of eclectic retail shops, but I wouldn't have guessed that there was a Marching Band Surplus outlet there.
19:24 That magnificent glug is a hallmark of a quintessential whiskey bottle.
It was hilarious to go from just watching the Teeling's Single Malt video from a couple years ago, where Rex goes off about Daniel taking a deep history dive on a "simple" question, to this one where the tables have turned oh so dramatically.
The molds they use to make the front metal label is made out of steel from the towers too. I’ve got a store pick of this that’s amazing
Rex just blew my mind and I'm off to order 42 inch inseam jeans.
Enjoy your videos, gents. You should have had Frankie Laine's song "Boot Hill" for your second whiskey. I think he was singing about the boot hill outside Tombstone, however.
Edit out Rex, and the video would be 180 seconds long, and we'd still know everything there is we need to know about all the whiskeys...
It's a good thing he's here to entertain us!
Then it would just be a class and not the entertaining spectacle that it is
Ah the wonders of entering an editorial Inception - or as Russ Martin might refer to it, the Whiskey Matrix. Thank you for the entertainment!
I'm totally team Rex when it comes to clothing lol
I just finished of a bottle of McCormick American reserve and it was decent for a cheaper low shelf whiskey but definitely not in the league of this bottle they are partaking of. I'm trying Jack Daniel's Rye next
Been watching your vids since I started getting into bourbons and Whiskey. I would love to see you review Limeburner from Western Australia
Rex might not be wrong...while special forces are typically predominantly 11b, there is a lot of overlap with other mos, and some could have been 19d. I can't find any info as to if there were any cavalry in that unit though.
Carry the bottle in the sock so you can tool down the top like a paper sack like a real professional whiskey connoisseur and your cork popper will already be in place ready and waiting 🤣🤣🤣
The restraint of Fancy Dan not commenting after Daniel saying he's picky about buying clothes and leaves with nothing...
And then gets called out!! Commented before that, haha
That editception is just what I needed in my life.
You made me laugh. Bravo.
Yall need to try Glenmorangie Companta. A large % finished in french pinot noir casks.
Yes. Somebody is living in the gutter, and that somebody is you Rex. :-)
Can you not malt weet to provide the alpha and beta amilaze to allow the fermentation to start?
Dunning-Kruger FTW!
Long time watcher, first time commenting. Recently had covid and watched a bunch of episodes, you guys made me feel less isolated. Just wanted to thank you guys for the great videos and helping me get through that hell! 👍
Way to go fancy Dan👏
You boys should record all the Friday episodes for the month in a single recording session.
How come 1/2 the time I watch this show I incessantly find myself eyeing that bottle of Lagavulin 16 next to Rex's face?
I might have to go do something about this one day! but I have currently moved from the speyside region from whence I started tasting whiskey, to exploring my homeland and the bourbons it possesses! I'm having a harder time with speysides now, they feel like they have lost some drama compared to bourbon. But I know I still enjoy the taste of malt, and that Lagavulin feels like it might have a level of drama I have come to enjoy...
current favorite single malt - Balcones
current favorite bourbon - Clyde Mays
i have a soft spot for (peach/pear) type fruity vibes. with my old fav being the baking spices and brown notes category.
I also have this bottle of angels envy that is totally interesting and different, kind of has me considering some wine finishes.
That was a fancy monitor 👀
I like how they think we put ‘aoli’ in our street corns in Mexico... 🤣
If you don't say aoli, mayo haters will nope out without giving the deliciousness a shot
Insane Petersburg

The council agrees that innuendos are just as bad as puns.
This is the most Murican whiskey ever made
Buckle up boys, this is a long one. Love it 🧡
I think officially I am team Somm because I love the trivia and nerdery, but damn if Rex isn’t my spirit animal... #moochysomm? #manbeareagle?
There’s an audience. I’d love to see some more of those little details.
Fancy Dan FTW!
Fun fact: Depoe Bay has the world smallest navigable harbor.
Other fun fact - we still know absolutely nothing about who made the whiskey from Depoe Bay.
Too right. I listened twice and I don't think they ever said the name and I couldn't read it on that bottle. But Google was my friend and with a few hints it told me about Freeland Distilling and they have a great story and have whisky that is aging and 3 kinds of gin that sound great but there are 5 other local, small batch, very tasty gins for around $25 and Freeland is asking $35 so I didn't rush out and buy one even though the bottle is beautiful and so is her hair. Sorry, can you tell it is Friday and i'm off the wagon. Cheers.
An extra single sock in your front pocket can be a very useful multi tool. Little known fact
That jump cut tho. 23:29
Rex's tangent on Fancy Dan was so damn funny.
A great song to listen to while drinking Horse Soldier is Horse Soldier, Horse Soldier by Corb Lund
I always enjoy the banter between you guys. Not unlike a dog and it’s owner. Overtime you start to look alike. Question is! Who’s the dog? You two have a relationship status on fb “it’s complicated”.
Do you think we’ll ever be able to order a bottle of whiskey from you guys and actually mail it?!
Question about sourcing:
Is it really so hard for a company to distill the liquid if they're going to store barrels for multiple years?
Your comment was probably rhetorical, but here goes anyway. Its not "hard" perse, it has more to do with costs or business approach. Not just in startup and equipment costs, but the actual distilling process which takes a skilled individual and aging which takes time. Time is where the money is at, as in the time spent in the barrel is the where the real investment is, due to storage and maintenance of the barrels/rickhouse, etc. In the case of companies like Compass Box, they are more of a blending house and look at it as its own art form; buying different types and ages of barrels and blending them to create unique flavor profiles not able to be achieved through normal single distillery production/aging. In Japan, a company may own several distilleries in different parts of the country and create their own in-company or in-house blends, but are not technically considered true single malts. There are an increasing number of collaboration releases from US distilleries based on the idea of blending various distilleries. Or in the case of the sourced bourbon in this video, a unique blend of 12 and 3 yr old bourbons finished in a specific wine cask that wouldn't have been made otherwise if this company hadn't sourced it. If its a small craft, mom and pop, locally owned distillery with only a few yrs distilling, then it would not even be possible for them to make a release like this. This also gives new distillers a way to bottle and sell a product while aging their own stocks, and an avenue for the giant distillers like MGP to sell their excess stocks
@@alexhenao7072 No, it wasn't rhetorical, and thank you for your answer.
Did you guys do something with the lighting in there? The vault has been looking a lot more like a green screen in the last few videos
