The timing with the isolation is complex as it involves slowing both poi to be in sync. Play initially without the isolation and practice keeping the timing as the poi come in and out of extension. Note, it is likely you will need to learn to spin the non extension poi (the one that stays at your side) slower. This allows the extension poi to keep up with it without having to move really fast.
Yes it could be called like that too as of course the isolations are part of it. The tracers that I do always include some isolations, which allows your poi to follow / trace the body. Isolations are a technique of spinning that you use to achieve certain movements, apart from a trick itself where the poi spins around its centre. Tracers can be sort in two categories too: tracing the body with the hands, and tracing the body with the poi. When you trace with poi, almost always there are isolations involved. I actually made a super complex tutorial about isolations vs. tracers, explaining and showing a lot of possibilities and concepts (slightly more advanced that this). I would call these “Isolated Two Beat Weaves”, an I wrong? I don’t see much tracing...
