This soup has become a regular meal for my family. I cook it 1-2 times a week, every week. My one year old baby loves it so much, that he finishes whole bowl and still keeps opening his mouth like a little bird :D JazakAllahuKhairan!

I don't know why anyone would thumbs down this delicious recipe.
Yeah exactly
because people aren't required to like what you like?
@@Marcel_Audubon ass
@@Chris-ib5ht what a sophisticated retort!
Doesn't change the simple fact that not everyone is required to like the same things and whining about thumbs up or thumbs down is just stoopid
Maybe because it is not vegan as advertised?
During my time in the U.S. Air Force, I served a 15-month tour of duty in Samsun, Turkey. On a 4-day break, a couple of buddies and I took a bus trip from Samsun to Ankara for some sightseeing. On the trip, the bus stopped at a small restaurant for lunch where I had a similar lentil soup. It was the first time I had ever had lentil soup. It was very good. I'll make your recipe to see if it brings back fond memories of that trip. Thank you.
Hello Jerry, thank you for sharing your memory with us. I will be more than happy if you try and find the same (or close ) taste from that restaurant. I have another lentil soup that is the way they make in the restaurants too. It doesn’t have veggies in it. First try this one and let me know. Maybe I can help you more 🙋🏻

I made back here immediately after tasting this. I've not even finished my bowl, but this is probably the best soup I've ever eaten! Thank you so much. This will definitely be a regular meal from now on
Thanks for commenting right away:) Enjoy it! Happy to hear that
In Pakistan we have something very similar, we use the same ingredients with the exception that we use Ghee. Ive been to Turkey many times and I consider it my Home. I usually stay in the Sultanahmet area in Istanbul when I visit and the local restaurants there serve this soup. On my most recent trip to Turkey, about a week ago, I had the pleasure to travel to Antalya. Fell in love with Turkey all over again...what a beautiful country and loving people. Be blessed and thank you for sharing this recipe.
We Bangladeshi call it 'Dal'. We eat it with bhat(rice)or ruti(flat bread made from flour).without dal it feels like we haven't eat anything. So it's a must for Bangladeshi people.😍

@Knight Rider it actually does taste so much better, you will be surprised. I also thought it, tried without mint and then with it. When you fry dried mint it tastes differently.

Thanks for the receipe. In Egypt we cook it the same way except the mint. Also, we always use ghee instead of butter. For the final touch we fry some minced garlic gloves and coriander powder and add them before serving. Yummy :) . But today I will try yours using mint. Thanks again
Is that raw garlic or cooked? Thanks. I was in egypt. ;-)
Hi Anne Marie, its the chopped garlic sauted in the oil on a low to medium flame until just slightly golden. Be careful not to darken the garlic, as it will make the soup bitter.

I learned to make Turkish lentil soup so long ago....pre internet days! I use vegetable stock and always add the juice of a whole lemon and plenty of zest, along with about 4 choppped fresh tomatoes and a good tablespoon of tomato puree, plenty of seasoning and garnish with lemon slices......never fails with my guests in winter!
Loved the way you spoke and explained the recipe. And the plating was so gracefully done. So grateful for people like you.

@@MaritsaDarman by the way Armenians didnt live in Adana . They lived in Kars. You don’t even know the city names. And 2020 we have still some Armenian populitation in Turkey . That seems to be delicious, jazakallah khair for sharing dear sister.
Thank you. I recently 'discovered' red lentil soup and have fallen for it! I have been making versions for my 1st of two meals of the day. The Paprika infused oil is something new, though in your case it is hot pepper infused oil. It is a wonderful topper. The other things I am doing a little differently: I cook up hull-less barley and a batch of steamed chopped escarole. I add these (maybe 2 tbs each) to my individual servings of soup . This makes it more filling, and compliments the protein in the lentils to make a complete protein...and it (the hull-less barley) adds some minerals and fiber. I have been occasionally mixing in some coconut milk, but i think the addition of the infused oil will be what this needs. Thanks again!
I have made this soup sooo many times!! Honestly it’s too good and delicious
Thank you very much for sharing this absolutely delicious and delightful soup recipe. The whole family enjoys it very much.
Whenever I visit Turkey, it is coming ritual to me to have lentil soup in the evenings, I do appreciate it a lot 👌 lentil soup is a high iron supply for the body.

I just came across your channel and I am so happy for that as I am a big fan of Turkish food! I used to watch the recipes in Turkish on your other channel and was very sad that I didn't manage to properly understand all the tips you were giving on how to prepare them. Thank you so much for your work that allows me to enjoy Turkish food at home! Best regards from Romania :)

I've made this twice in the last week and it's my new favorite thing! I omit the fat and use vegetable broth to make it vegan and fat free and it's still really tasty and flavorful. Today I added some dried lime I had on hand as an experiment. So good! Thank you for posting!
Hi Theresa I am happy you tried and it turn out good. Yes lemon or lime goes well when serving. Dried lime must have taken it to a different level of taste 🙋🏻
yes, havent tried dry ones, but i love mine served with lemon juice too, and use regular water. there are enough vegetables and spices in it, my family too prefers it like that. much fresher taste. in winter maybe some chicken broth against cold but not needed really.
@@TFT Do you grade the dried lime or put in pieces?

This was absolutely delicious; and simple too. Thank you.
Just made it. JazakAllah khair for sharing. What a wonderful soup! I'll have it with white rice for our 🇵🇰 chawal daal combo.
Hello afiyet olsun. Happy you liked it
I just made this soup in my Instant Pot, using one quart of vegetable broth in place of chicken stock and water. This tastes great, and I'll make it on a regular basis from now on. Thank you!
Way to go with vegetable broth!
Did you use butter though? Because this recipe is ALMOST 'vegan': the only two non-vegan ingredients in this recipe are the chicken stock and the butter. So I really want to know how it tastes without the stock AND the butter? How important is the butter??
My favourite soup recipe, for Pumpkin/sweet potato soup, is also supposed to have 1 TBSp of butter, and I haven't tried making it without butter yet. I'm hoping though, that leaving out 1 TBSP of butter for a soup that is big enough to make at least 4 large bowls shouldn't even be noticeable! On the other hand, the recipe also calls for 1 TBSp of peanut butter - and that small amount makes a BIG difference to the flavouring of the soup (a GOOD difference!). (I use crunchy peanut butter - yum).
By the way - I just saw in a comment further below this, that someone mentioned that they added a few drops of squeezed lemon to the soup, and the woman who posted this UA-cam recipe responded that she 'also serves the soup with lemon' :-)
@@beautifuldayzee5942 I did use butter, but I think it could easily be left out.
@@beautifuldayzee5942 Lemon juice sounds like a great idea!
