On April 29, 2023, Serj Tankian took the stage at the sold-out majestic Soraya Theater in Los Angeles for the world premiere of his 'Invocations' musical program. Flanked by four world class vocalists at his side and backed by full orchestra and choir, the epic concert was recorded live and is now available to stream on all music platforms and on limited edition autographed vinyl.
'Invocations' is an operatic suite that can best be described as music that calls on spirits to co-inspire or inter- inspire. Spanning over a decade of his career from different sources and backgrounds, this is music that plays on the deepest heart strings of the listener at a tempo that sets the heart to rest and the spirit to wander. Sonically, the 15 compositions comprising Tankian’s 'Invocations' weave symphonic and cinematic musical styles with plenty of emotional swells along the way.

I try to understand everything Serj creates. I simply love all his stuff. Through sometimes I strive to make an interpretation of certain parts of his music. This song would be incomplete without the growls as evidenced in the choir of voices. But what is the meaning behind that vocal line? I have no criticism, it just caught me off guard and because I enjoy his music I want to know. Anybody able to explain it to me?
Maybe it's an expression of grief? The piece is pretty abstract so it's hard to tell but that's what I got out of it

That's not music, music is what he did in SOAD. This is a MASTER PIECE. I'm an atheist, I don't believe in god or the soul, but I can say that this album touched my soul. Always believe, we should give Serj and the others time to discuss, create, develop, imagine and interpret for a chance of getting a new album. Plus, Serj said it himself: after the Protect The Land / Genocidal Humanoidz single, Serj said he wouldn’t end it at only two songs. So it’s a chance for a new album!

Serj is my idol. I love him. But does anyone else think he REALLY fucked that note up at 3:46? I know people make mistakes and I am 5 universes below him when it comes to vocal talent, but it kinda took me out of the experience for a second. I might just be missing the meaning as it was intentional?
Otherwise, this was a phenomenal performance by Serj and his company and it really shows how much of a Renaissance man he is in the arts.
