Thank you for bringing back my High School Memories. I grew up in a rural secluded area of Louisiana. I bought, when I could find them on trips to Shreveport, Guillows models. Balsa and all rubber powered. I learned a lot about aerodynamics and patience. If I hadn't had this hobby, in the boring rural environment on my father's cattle ranch... I can't imagine the anguish. I also read books, later served in the US Army at the end of Vietnam. Now retired and pushing 70 years old, about to start my second phase of model building. Thanks for your gentle inspiration. I hope that many young boys and men, hemmed in by their city dwellings or rural isolation find this hobby to fill those hours with creativity and dreaming rather than frustration.
After watching hours and hours of model airplane videos, nothing captures the grace and beauty of flight and childhood nostalgia like the rubber powered free flight models. Thank you for the in depth and informative video!
Model aircraft led to my 53 year career in Aviation. I was a licensed structural fabrication/repair mechanic. I was also a master of the small and intricate repairs.

It sounds like you had a great childhood. Enjoy your second phase of model building!
I built a few Guillows aircraft kits as a kid! They were expensive so I never flew them. Today they are UNBELIEVABLY expensive.

It’s amazing how simple technology can create so much magic!

The skills that are required for model building are useful in many industries!
Great video and nice old great tips🛩️ 👍🤠👍.
Glad you enjoyed it
Great and informative video!
Dennis Norman, I think we can elevate him to Pantheon of such Greats as As Pres Bruning, Don Srull, Walt Mooney, Earl Stahl..to name a few.
You know what would make this video even better? MORE COMMERCIAL'S.
amazing!
Back in the day I used white spirit to transfer photo copies to Balsa.
Guillow's balsa and doped tissue rubber band kits, kind of a dying art.
Too expensive and too time consuming today. Young people prefer social media and video games.
Back when kids were outside with a lighter and army men , ahh the good old days.
Kicking it Old School. Not for me, all the linen dope is a fire hazard.
Everything was a fire hazard back when we were young in the 60/70’s…
