I just received my 3rd pair of Captains and love them. Due to the shape of the toe, it will be about 0.5"-1" longer than a sneaker to accommodate the width of your toes. Your toes will fit too tightly in the toe box if you were to get a boot the same length as your sneakers. I wear a 9-10 depending on the brand of sneaker. So for my Thursday Captains I've tried 8.5, 8 and 8 wide in order to shorten the toe a bit but found that the regular 8.5 is the best fit. They are about 1"(or under) longer than my regular sneakers. However, if you got the Thursday Diplomats with a rounder toe box you could probably reduce that length.
@@Kudusole The 8.5 fit my foot well from side-to-side but I had about an inch of room in front of my toe. To try to mitigate that, I tried an 8-wide. It DID mitigate the room in front of the toe but the side-to-side fit was now kind of loose. If I lifted my foot off the floor and wiggled my foot side-to-side I could feel my foot wiggling in the boot. The 8-regular was just a bit tight side-to-side but there was a possibility that it would stretch overtime but I didn't want to take the risk and not being able to return them after breaking in for a few days. However, a boot-stretcher could be a game changer. My wife has a pair of Thursdays that fit good initially but after wearing it a couple days it started getting very uncomfortable(side-to-side fit) so they sat unworn for a long time. We ended up using a boot stretcher and now they're perfect.
@@Kudusole Yes, definitely make sure you get the most comfortable fit! lol. That way you take the guess work out of it if you buy another pair down the road. They have a great return policy for that! I suggest purchasing your 11-wide before returning your 11.5 in case your situation turns out like mine where the 8.5 ended up being a better fit. I'll also say that when I tried on the wide size, I didn't really like the top-down shape of the boot. It changed it just enough to where I didn't really like it. Another thing to mention is that I believe the Captain boot is currently the only boot available in wide sizes.
@@anw9485really good info, thank you! I bought the Captain following Thursday’s sizing advice and they’re too big. I need at least half a size down, if not a full size. It’s a frustrating guessing game so thank you for posting your experience in detail!
Thursday quietly updated their last to be wider on some of their rugged and resilient line right around the time your video was released. I can't really tell, but maybe you got the wider last? It became a whole debacle especially on Reddit and they are in the middle of a transition to a slightly modified last they say they will announce on their website. And that could possible have had some effect on your sizing...perhaps??
nice review. how would you compare them to berwick? Berwick is probably the closest brand to Thursday boot's price range amongst all brands you have reviewed so far i guess.
I believe that's partially true. But may also be due to batch variance and the person assembling the boot. I have 2 pairs of Captains from circa 2018 and just got another pair 2 weeks ago. The new pair in the same size fits more comfortably right out the box. The toe box is a little rounder and when comparing length, it's about a 1/4" shorter from heel to toe.

@@anw9485 Amazing, thank you for your input. For me, I think I will get 11 wide haha.

I got these boots. Ordered 1/2 size down (like they tell you to) and they fit great. Love them
Thanks so much for the review🙌

What is your height? well the boot will look long if maybe you are short but i thing that if you are tall enough it will be ok
Hey kud, did you resize? Did you get the 11 wides? What did you decide after 6 months
Hello! I didn't resize unfortunately. Wanted to spend money other brands for now
hello kudusole...my foot length is 25 cm which size should i order on arizona adobe captain boot
What is the actual length of 8.5 size?
I want to buy a pair of Captain but Im confuse right all my sneakers (jordan Nike Yeezy ) size US 8.5 should I buy US8 for my first Captain ?
Have you got your pair? I've got the same problem here. I am in size 9 in sneaker n not sure to go half a size down or 1 size down with EE.
Hey there I'm trying to figure out what size to get. The thing is I don't know my US size shoe. But I am 27 cm long. Any advice would be helpful. 😅
12 US = 30 cm 9 US = 27 cm, US sizing can change depending on width

Would say the two are very similar with their quality
To answer your question better. I purchased Berwick Captoes too. Review is incoming :)
I hate their lasts, literally too long story all over again
I've heard Thursdaybootd sizing is inconsistent
I see why!!

I noticed this too and made my own video showing how the sizing has changed over the last couple years: ua-cam.com/video/jNC2b2b-8dM/v-deo.html
Batch variance, that's tell me Thursday Boots quality control is not up to the level they are marketing to it.
