Hi friends!!! Just wanted to put out there that I recognize I’m complaining quite a bit in this video. I’m forever grateful for the many loving, caring people in my life, and I’m so so lucky to have the endless support of you guys. How I felt in this video was very much the birthday blues and probably a quarter-life crisis lol. And me feeling this way is 100% my responsibility and a result of my lack of effort to make friends! I hope I wasn’t too negative or dramatic in the vid, because the last thing I want to do is bring you guys down! Just wanted to document it for the memories and in case it helps even one person feel a little less lonely. Appreciate you guys so much! :)

Hey steph! Complaining a bit about being lonely is completely okay! And I know we see other lonely people and think to ourselves "they are so cool" but when we do it ourselves we feel sad and that's fine! You can want to have friends when you're alone and even if the social media and family has set expectations of being independent and doing things ourselves it's justifiable to be independent and still have friends! You're doing a great job and I'm proud of you ❤❤❤ happy birthday !!

We’re just humans learning how to live, and that’s okay. We’re all figuring it out. But eating alone, looking at the stars, and even bleeding remind us that we’re still alive, and that’s the beauty of life. It takes a bit to adjust, but once you do, going out solo can actually be kinda fun! Alsooo I totally relate to that locker room rush for work-I’m always doing the same thing!😂

Having one year until my brain fully develops definitely replayed in my brain throughout the day. I think it's really sweet how you're smiling throughout the vlog while being honest about how you feel. Spending your birthday alone like that sucks (the part where someone else was celebrating their birthday made me feel sad, but it also felt like this was episode 1 of a slice of life anime haha) - I hope you make a lot more friends in the city this year! It's quite the story you're documenting - finding a new job after pivoting to SWE, the unpaid internship, moving to NYC. It's the dream, it's the adventure that's just started and I'm hopeful to see what comes next in the story!

Happy Birthday! I turned 24 in July, and it’s crazy how different lives can be. I also live in NY, but in the suburbs. Spent the day with my siblings in the city. Getting food, running around, acting like a kid lol. My brother even told me that the people around us are probably thinking I’m on some drug they hadn’t heard of 😂. Still figuring stuff out, so didn’t have to go to work that day. Still working on transitioning from being a dreamer to doing something for the world. But trust me, I feel the loneliness too, even tho I also have super loyal friends 😅 and a… complicated but mostly supportive family(Asian too lol, tho different type). And I get the deep thoughts too btw! For me I kinda get stuck in them and and then logic out everything in my life lol, but my emotions don’t listen so… not fun. But just wanted you to know life is nuanced, but you’re not alone! There are probably millions of people turning 24 this year all over the world, and our lives could be drastically different, but if u grew up in a first world country, chances are you’re gonna be struggling with loneliness (thank you Information Age lol), interesting thoughts… and just kinda still be a work in progress lol

aw thank u!!! haha i’m really trying to work on having better audio quality😅 esp when i’m recording with my phone! i use a mic when i can (i use the dji mic) and when i edit i try to use the compressor and also make sure it hits -6 to 0 db without going into the red! there’s wayyy better advice out there since i’m still a novice at this lol but hope this helps a bit!

If you are alone doesn't mean you have to be lonely. If there is purpose in your life. Times were never easy. World has to keep spinning and young people like yourself are the main drivers. Some of productivity extraction methods are a bit coercive but this is what it is.

Getting food, running around, acting like a kid lol. My brother even told me that the people around us are probably thinking I’m on some drug they hadn’t heard of 😂. Still figuring stuff out, so didn’t have to go to work that day. Still working on transitioning from being a dreamer to doing something for the world. But trust me, I feel the loneliness too, even tho I also have super loyal friends 😅 and a… complicated but mostly supportive family(Asian too lol, tho different type). And I get the deep thoughts too btw! For me I kinda get stuck in them and and then logic out everything in my life lol, but my emotions don’t listen so… not fun. But just wanted you to know life is nuanced, but you’re not alone! There are probably millions of people turning 24 this year all over the world, and our lives could be drastically different, but if u grew up in a first world country, chances are you’re gonna be struggling with loneliness (thank you Information Age lol), interesting thoughts… and just kinda still be a work in progress lol

i use a mic when i can (i use the dji mic) and when i edit i try to use the compressor and also make sure it hits -6 to 0 db without going into the red!

Times were never easy. World has to keep spinning and young people like yourself are the main drivers. Some of productivity extraction methods are a bit coercive but this is what it is.
