  • The 80/20 Rule, also known as Pareto's Principle, a wonderful tool in time and life management. In this video, I explain the 80/20 Rule and share how you can apply that rule to setting and achieving any goal you set for yourself. bit.ly/27bwpX2

yes, I used to care more about status, fame, 'success', impressing people etc., then i did 80/20 and found over 80% (~87%) of my wellbeing, satisfaction, and pleasure came from my relationship with my mom (2-7% effort) i.e. just talking with her, investing a *bit, saying 'i love you', doing a *little for her... and the other things were a *lot of effort for little payoff next to her awesomeness and how i felt/feel around her (contrary to society/the world: 'fame', 'success', 'world class', etc.) :p

Nice Video clip! Sorry for the intrusion, I am interested in your opinion. Have you researched - Patlarny Ancient Secrets Principle (just google it)? It is a good one of a kind guide for maximising your life using a simple goal setting strategy minus the headache. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my cooworker after many years got great results with it.

I know the recipe for success. My husband was a motivational speaker in the 80’s & 90’s. He got very sick. I lost my entire compass & became a huge procrastinator. Dear Lord, I am back on it today! He is not going to get well, but I am NOT going to fall into a dark hole. I choose to move forward & live even better!

Hi Brian, a great change in my life was brought about when I read your Eat My Frog book about time management. Even though I couldn't do all those mentioned in it, writing the most important goals on paper and doing the topmost priority ones first has really made good change... Thanks to all your lively talks... Really inspirational...

I decided a while ago that my most important goals, which I guess is really one, was praying. As you mentioned in a comment, these may be considered action steps. Now it is more a habit than a goal. I am doing more of it than I planned and am happy with my progress. I pray daily and several times a day. Other goals I made can't necessarily be done now, as they involve missions overseas and my health is not up to it. Now working on the languages I'm learning maybe has become my second goal? However, the 80/20 rule seems to apply to this: I don't learn languages everyday anymore but focus on what's most important when I do. I know as a missionary, and one who is being converted into, eventually, a full-time missionary, prayer is my most important activity as it was with Jesus...not Bible-reading, not preaching, not language-learning, but prayer. I will try to keep these goals WHAT I DO ALL THE TIME: Everything else will fit in somewhere. Now I'd like to work on the action-steps to see what prayers I need to pray. Obviously most people think this is a colossal waste of time, but as with great people, I'm not overly concerned about what the "hip" group thinks!

A story of a young person who is stuck and needs some time to get loose,
    My goals:
Age 16: i want to be reasonable rich so i can buy a nice car and big house and i have a lot of status and people will think I'm important.
Age 17: I want my own business, because i want a certain freedom I can't get when working on payroll.
Age 20: i want to become a salesman for 5 years after finishing school, and with that experience it's properly a lot wiser and easier to start my business more succesfull.
    Age 22, finished school
Was a salesmen ( in training) but my mentor didn't know how to train me and gave up.. End of story, I eventually gave up as well. I don't even know if i like selling anymore or not..
Almost depressed because i set my standards to high. I want (need) my own company to become succesfull..
    But what kind of company...
After 6 months i've set my new life goal and I only want one thing in my life.
    Goal
Age 22: I want to get happy..

This video has helped my realize the importance of focusing on the big goals in life rather than the small one. Thanks for sharing Brian!

Thanks, Brian. It was a real treat to listen to what you had to say. I'm, at the age of 44, a first-time business owner. I'm so new into my venture but have been thinking about it for 10 years if I can be honest. I started it 18 months ago and it is the main reason for my getting out of bed. Everything I do, is in some way, related to my business goal and I have achieved so much. I even have a business partner who believed so much in my idea he wanted to be a part of it. I found myself doing a few things you mentioned which makes me feel really good, but definitely a few things I should be doing too. Anyway, great video, and thank you!

It is funny as i applied it yesterday:
I am famous for my extensive list writing and people make jokes of me. I have to admit, my lists, that I am writing every evening before, are really long. Then the next morning I prioritize the first three tasks. It became a good habit and I could see how much I had crossed of and which tasks would still be unaccomplished. But yesterday I made a slight change:
I picked only one task, the frog, the task that I seemed to have delayed for five days. I skipped my routine and forced myself to do this one thing. It was amazing, that in the early afternoon when I had finished my most important tasks I was relaxed and feeling so satisfied and lucky about my days efforts but I had not crossed off as many tasks as the days before! Although I did not cross off as much done tasks as the days before, I had made more progress and felt more accomplished than the rest of the week. This showed me how important it is to not only plan and list, but also to look for the 20% VIP-Tasks on my list. The crucial point is to be ruthless with the other stuff, that is not as easy. Thank you Brian!

    Hi Brian,
This video is right on the money. One thing I struggle with, as many do, is fear. We focus on the little things because we're afraid to do that one or two big things we know needs to get done. As a result, at the end of the day, we've created anxiety. For me it's cold-calling. I've always struggled with it. Do you have any suggestions to reduce anxiety with certain tasks, and breaking the fear cycle?
    Thank you

Brian, I want to personally thank you for the tremendous work you've done from the beginning. Your Ultimate Goal Program has recently helped me achieve over $10k of profit in my last financial year. I am now 2 years in Business. The truth is, I have constantly been in bad terms with the government in terms of taxes. The idea is that I simply wasn't following up on my goals and despite the fact that I was getting a good turn over, I simply lacked control and goals to drive the business into more profit. But Through your work, the ultimate goals program, I was able to use the 80/20 Rule to select my best goals and follow up on them regularly.
So I am very thankful for your time, energy and everything.

Can you please answer my query if you can
Lets say my goal is to make 5 million by 2027 and you we must have small milestones to measure for our progress tracking. So my question is what should I affirm all the time( as I do affirmation most of the time), whether I need to affirm my actual BIG GOAL( I am happy that I made 5 millions by 2027) or my small goal within it (I am so happy that I made 1 million by 2023)?
I hope to see your answer.

Nice video! The common mentality of people is that once they finish all the small tasks, they think they can spend the rest of their time and concentrate completely on the important ones. But the truth is, you can never run out of small tasks. There'll always be something that you must do. This is where the 80:20 principle really helps.

I've heard of this before but never looked into it until now. At this point in my life I feel like I'm running in circles and want to progress so bad. I feel this really help me do away with the other smaller stuff and focus on the main thing I'm working towards.
For so long the little stuff has been in the way giving little to no results while I'm letting the major goal get pushed over to the side. It's time for that change of focus.

Just wonderful, I been tryin to find out about "one year goals examples" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Farnicaas Switcher Capitalisation - (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my mate got great success with it.

You would agree with me that your ideas of success may be working in the Western world but for South Asia or particularly in India, it doesn't work.

I found this rule works for a lot of what is happening in my life. Relationships, mental health, time and money.
I do not need to be happy all the time. There is time for everything.
My biggest flaw is procrasting. 👎

Hi Brian! I am studying an academic program in video games, but the goal is to get a animation job which reguire knowing how to animate. I'm at my last year and the papers we're reading and writing isn't anything that going to get me to my goal. In 2 months I need to apply for internship (which will get me to my goal), but the stuggles with reading papers and writing takes up all my time and energy from animating and upgrading my portfolio. How would you had prioritised your energy?

There are 4 kinds of things to do:
    - urgent and important (you cannot avoid them)
    - urgent and not important (you should avoid them)
    - not urgent but important (worth doing)
    - not urgent and not important (avoid them)
but still we are human beings not robots.
