  • There are many women in the bible, named and un-named, but nonetheless they are mentioned. Through their stories we can learn how God used them and we can see how God can also use us. I pray that through this quick mention of Phoebe you can examine yourself and see the Phoebe inside you and begin to move forward the calling God has in your life.

    I assume she is using the niv...this is not the place for a full exegetical explanation but the better translation is 'servant' not deacon just as all the other major translations translate it

    Phoebe was young and single, a Greek who had money and influence

    What version do you use? KJV says, “Romans 16:1-2
    1 I commend unto you Phebe our sister, which is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea:
    2 That ye receive her in the Lord, as becometh saints, and that ye assist her in whatsoever business she hath need of you: for she hath been a succourer of many, and of myself also.” It’s just a little different.
