I have been in the Hyde a few times. I used to live in Prime 11 next door. The units in Hyde are tiny and the place is used as kind of a Hotel with about 90% Chinese occupancy.
I lived at Hyde 11 for 9 months between Dec 22- Sept 23. Great condo and surprisingly quite when inside despite how hectic Soi 11 get's a night. However walking up and down Soi 11 everyday, whether to head out or head home does wear thin after a while.
I've stayed at Hyde Sukhumwit 11 several times. I would go watch the sunset from the pool every night. It really is one of the best views of any pool in the city. But staying on soi 11 was too much for me, mostly because it never stops. It's always chaotic and dirty. And god help you if you need to take a car anywhere.
Soi 11 is way to busy and loud.. at night all you hear are the Tuk Tuks with modified exhausts going up and down since 11 has many good and popular nightclubs. plus prime location for tourists. So all prices for everything are more expensive.. I’m just saying not for me. But great vid as usual
Quite a change of Soi 11 from my first stay in the days of early '80s. The Hyde is built on the site of the Federal Hotel a favorite of expats for decades.
Looking forward for my annual trip to Thailand. Been to the four corners but never spent more than a week in Bangkok this time 3mths . Hopefully I will be in town for one of the meeting ups . Thanks for the videos

Great video! Enjoy the view from the Hyde for 1 or 2 more years until the hotel is finished, if they build it high it will block the view on that side. Hopefully it doesn't affect much.

It is a great location but Soi 11 gets crazy at night. If you own a car, traffic getting to the building will get old, quickly. The pool is always really cold, for some strange reason. 15 MB is a lot to ask for such tiny bedrooms.
Jereon, is Sukhumvit soi 11 less than 10 meters wide? If so, then why some buildings on the road is above 8 stories like the aloft hotel and in which year this law regarding height restriction on narrower road was enforced? Personally, I think the height limit for narrower roads (less than 10m) should be raised to atleast 33 meters or 10 stories high but more open green space left on the land such as having atleast 6 meter setback from the road and compensating it by increasing the floor area ratio and also 1.5 m of the land frontal width should be surrendered for road widening. This should be the bare minimum in a densely populated city like Bangkok.
I stayed in S11 before - unfortunately the air quality was very bad when I stayed there. Bangkok seriously needs to do something about the air. When I return to Thailand, I’ll be looking at travelling further south.
Nice condo. Don't see how it is 14.9 million baht. To me, it looks to be around 11.5 to 12, especially unfurnished. Very small balcony and small living room.
What? I can buy a similar condo in downtown Chicago for the same price. Damn, Bangkok real estate is expensive. Crazy. I thought it's supposed to be so much cheaper.
soi 11 is boring right now. they booted out all of the street vendors and half the street is a closed off construction site. the street is just lined with scammer taxis and there are way too many dodgy african drug dealers kicking about now. Soi 11 has gone through ups and downs in the past too, but this is probably as bad as I've ever seen it in the last 15 years (excluding the covid lockdowns)

Some years ago there was talk that Bangkok's seasonal flooding problem may be unsolvable. Has it been solved now?

There's a nice 24h open Thai restaurant in the beginning of the soi called Kinnaree.
Many late nights I've been there curing my "drunk hunger" ... 😋
Eaten at that place many times. Nothing flashy about it, but the food is well prepared.
