I always wondered how you started working with Sheldrick I first saw you Mishak working with Doldol my first adoption. And even though she passed this September she had a great love for you & you to her. You & your other keepers are great angels Doldol's life was great because of your love & care I will be adopting again Thank you for your great work
Magical Mishak, the elephant whisperer - a favorite among eles & other Keepers. He is a gentle soul who knows just what the babies need - love, comfort, encouragement, discipline, nourishment, exercise, rest, friends, family.... I'm grateful that his friend suggested SWT to him & he decided to give it a try. He & all the beloved Keepers are amazing, selfless people. They don't choose the job, the eles choose them. A new Keeper is hired on a 3 month trial basis - if the eles like them, they're in; if not, then unfortunately they are out. Those who stay become enchanted with the eles and realize they have a mission in they'd survival. Theywork on shifts 24/7 & rotate among the eles so the babies don't become too attached to one Keeper. The Keepers have families of their own & rotate out to see them. They know these babies as well as their own & can recognize them years after they've rewilded. It is always a joyous reunion when they see adult ex-orphans they've raised from babies.... esp when the mothers bring back they're wild born babies to show off & introduce them to their human parents. 🐘🐘💕💕💕
Thank you for sharing the backstory to the keepers. They make all the difference. Thank you for all that you do God bless you all the way from New York City
Great film. Please tell us more. Do the keepers ever go home? Do they commit to stay 24/7 at the wildlife trust? What do they do on their days off if they get any days off? That one elephant was really aggressive, possessive and jealous and didn’t want any other baby elephants joining his family. He seemed so big and they knew how to handle him but he could have injured them unintentionally.
@Rita Turner There are other videos that say more, and there's the website that also informs. The one that was aggressive had a head injury, so wasn't behaving normally.
If you google Sheldrick wildlife trust , they have a website and Facebook Twitter The website is full of information and you can read the keepers diaries and also adopt a baby elephant.

What the heck is AEFF? Why do these organizations just assume everyone knows what the abbreviation stands for? The intro passed by so fast the name could not be caught there either.
+merrywriter: Just saw this, though you posted your comment six years ago. It stands for African Environmental Film Foundation: aeff.org/. I agree that organizations should spell out their names for clarity, at least on first reference.
