I can not pay my bills on right thing for them. And hope that is trickles down. Mostly it does not. We need this work to come back!! That is what I care about! They get what they want. Great!!! @Morpheusninetwo I can absolutely understand your point and I hope a deal will be found soon. In general, it's bluntly said a mess over there with certain jobs behind the camera unionised, others not. Not all of them in the same union, etc.
My main reason for why I wrote the comment, is to counter the "quit the politics" comment.

@@brandonlee2628 my issue is... The person is telling a half truth. I get it, lots of people just hate business. But, open the financials... Stop assuming they're making money. All of these steaming companies are LOSING money. I mean... How did you think you could go from $100 cable to $10 a month with no changes.... Netflix screwed everyone over into a money losing game of who could burn money longest. Except.... Now... The free money train is over. Interest rates and inflation is up. This is financials....
Or, everyone can accept 30% price hike. Then, streaming is profitable. Right now though. I'm watching these stocks spiral into abyss. I blame the writers, because I actually do believe that we could push a 30 to 50% price hike easily if the content was good but these businesses cannot hike prices with terrible content. It's just a terrible position to be in because if the TV people cut their cable subscription than these businesses do die. The only reason that they are hanging on right now is that people still have cable and those users subsidize everyone else. This is why Netflix is stopping multi accounts. Everyone is scrapping dollars. Netflix should never have started streaming at below cost, causing everyone to lose money. But doesn't matter, content still is bad and I just don't think these companies can hike prices with bad content or they'll push people to UA-cam.

You want Warner to pay for the canceled shows with what money? They are losing money every year. It's so frustrating with people like you, you assume every business just has billions in profits. You could literally Google and see they lost 3.5B June 22, 2.3B sep 2022, 2.1B Dec 2022. 1.0B march 23. What do you expect? The company barely operates cash positive. And you want them to bring back canceled shows when they can't even afford the current stuff.
People like you should be forced to buy the stocks and suffer the losses. If you really think a company is making broken profits, you'd buy the stock and be rich.... There's a reason why Warner is doing this, and it's because if they don't figure out how to run a cash positive business soon, they're dead. And this isn't a Warner problem. It's a streaming problem. Even Disney is losing money.... I don't get how you guys can't just use Google..... It takes one second to Google a company, and see if they can afford to pay.... You'd learn a lot more about why businesses do things if you look at how much money they have rather than assume every business makes money.

When you've been told for DECADES, that an English major or a humanities degree is worthless and everyone should "learn to code," yeah, we're gonna end up with a society that thinks what writers do is easy and shouldn't be valued and AI is the solution. It's all connected!
We're gonna end up with a society that's very comfortable looking at writers and artists as fools who picked a foolish career who deserve whatever pennies they get.
People are STUNNED that writers don't want AI to replace them and that we'd strike over it. That we should somehow be grateful that tech and the free market smiled upon us.
Machines can't do what people do. The key to art isn't an algorithm. It's people, creativity, and stability.

No, the problem is you're too lazy to open the financials. If you did, you'd know, every single one of these companies stopped making money when we started streaming. Disney net profit is plummeted to single digits. They aren't making money. Paramount and Warner both lose money quite often. Disney movie/TV division is a massive anchor and loses money. Netflix barely breaks even, and a lot of that is accounting trickery. Dude... Look around... Interest rates are up.... The free money train is over man. Investors can't afford to fund money losing businesses anymore. The writers guild can't win this because there's no more money left.

Streaming isn't profitable. TV was profitable because of cable. Streaming was a vc, lose money thing. Except, high interest rates, so no one wants to burn money anymore. So now... They have to make streaming profitable. Disney loses money on streaming, paramount does, Warner does, they all started doing this to compete with Netflix. If you want to blame someone, blame Netflix for the low cost streaming model. There's no money. If you think these companies are doing so well, buy their stocks. Burn your money twice over. Why do you think you get to stream content for $7 a month and think that's going to fund everything.... They all know they need to double the current price to pay anyone and no one can do it because Netflix can undercut everyone as they are the only company with enough users to do this, thanks to the vc money burn pit they used.
You can pay the writers though. Just, don't expect theses companies to survive 5 years losing money. Or, you can pay 50%+ more in your subscription. Then... They'll live. Otherwise, no way Disney can have a content division that loses money, and depend on parks... I mean, if you think that's smart, you take your savings, and buy Disney stock and enjoy losing your money like that. Not me... Not any investor... Hence... Investors are demanding changes.... No more free money to make content that loses money..... Why do you feel entitled to lose money?

No, the writers are actually that bad.... Dude, streaming loses money. Go actually read company financials. This isn't a greed thing. You feel inflation, etc. Businesses are experiencing inflation, high interest rates, etc. The party is over.... This is survival lol.... They have to stop losing money. Paramount and Warner bros especially. Disney has the parks saving them. Netflix is the only one who made it, and barely. $5 B a year for Netflix. These companies don't use ai yet. They'd have to disclose to investors. But they will. Writers were given their shot. They failed... We're going into a recession. No more free money to burn anymore. Gtfo. They were lucky investors were willing to fund losses this long. I don't understand why normal people feel entitled to companies losing money. If you feel that way, you go own the stock and watch the company you invested in burn money til it goes bankrupt.

What they're afraid of is, you'll train the ai on your best shows... So you can reproduce great content. You could train the ai on universally accepted 8/10+ movies. The AI that the writers will be using For TV shows is going to be a lot different than the basic chat gpt that you are seeing because it's going to be a much more targeted purpose ai. Two good 300k salary writers with an ai copilot is better than 6 normal skilled 100m writers. The problem is, the lower talent extras won't be able to grift anymore.

Investing isn't that easy... People lose money, companies die. We're about to see some deaths. These writers wrote these companies graves. Wait, this isn't the whole truth. The writers want 8 to 10 writers on every show for up to 6 months or the pay for up to 6 months, whether the show needs them or not. That and the A.I portion of this is not really being addressed. There is no way that the "writers are going to regulate A.I." The U.S. government can't even regulate A.I..how are studios going to know if the writers are using A.I.Mean while all the other workers, the " labor," are out of work, and the majority of shows can be canceled in July. This means that due to new media contracts, all new shows would start at $30 to $35 an hour, not a full rate of $44.00. Until the second season 😢 !! The writers are just giving studios more leverage to lower rates across the industry. Asking for residuals is ridiculous when you should be asking for stock options. 1:04

OK, I'm writing this before I watch the video. OK? OK. The writers strike is a very good thing. Why? It's a self inflicted wound. They're culling themselves. Trimming the fat. Bad writers, undeserving writers, those donuts who've been losing money writing garbage. They all need to go away and the fact that they're doing it to themselves is nothing short of beautiful poetry. Ideally we'll return to a time when scripts, shows, films and plays are written by a single person or possibly 2. That assures two major things. Thing one; assigning blame and accountability. Thing two; clearly defining merit and credit. No more "writers rooms". Let merit and credibility determine access. Simple.

Also Screen Rant, don't forget you have David Zaslav's payload, it is time that Zaslav to face the facts.
You totally scrapped a bunch of WB movies and TV Shows for tax things.
You hired James Gunn to lead DC Studios which he has made a massive expense on rebooting the Already Existing DCEU and firing Henry Cavil for his agenda, kinda sounds like he knows nothing about Business.

During the previous writers strike, the division was profitable. Disney, is losing money, Netflix is BARELY making money, paramount and Warner are going to die at this rate.... You guys aren't being remotely realistic because you REFUSE to look at numbers. You think "corporation, big, must have money." no. These companies all screwed the math on streaming, and there's only two ways to fix this. Double the price consumers pay for streaming, or, cut content cost. And writer's, you're taking a cut. You wrote trash content that caused this. If you wrote good content, we could up prices. We can't. I have zero sympathy for the people who caused these divisions to be unprofitable. It doesn't even matter if you go along. They CAN'T AFFORD YOU. the money isn't there. Banks won't lend money. Investors aren't putting more money in. You can't keep losing money anymore dude. The free money train is over. Make money now.

First, the writers don't decide what shows get made and second, of course the writing is garbage, some writer was payed half of what he made 5 years ago to turn in a first draft that they greenlit and made into a script without any revision. It's all gonna be garbage from now on because no one is payed enough to care as long as the corporation that hired them is making money. An original idea?! Forget about it.
