Check out an epic doc by the legend Bruce parry and Mark Anstice it's called cannibals& Crampons it's on my doc play list near the top it's good . Bruce parry was man before Ed Stafford and Bear Grylls he had all their skills but never presented a show in that style but did some epic adventures. He did some great shows for TV it's a shame because his docs and tv shows are far better in my opinion than some of these style of shows he was more like Ray mears who is the best at these shows

nah. my understanding is that he was an instructor in the 21st for three years. the 22nd are the SAS "soldiers". i think youd have to be a real high flyer to be accepted by the 22nd _after_ three years of service, more often 6+ years of service. you certainly dont join the army as 22 SAS. the 21st and 23rd are reservists, basically the TA arm of the SAS. not to say you dont have to have chops to get in to the 21st and 23rd, far from it, but they arent professional soldiers. they may go through something similar to the 22nd as far as selection is concerned but they certainly dont get the same level of training.
ED STAFFORD: Those polar bears can be extremely dangerous be sure to stay away from them much as possible. BEAR GRYLLS: When you bite their neck and reach polar bears spine, they now on completely paralysed. Now you have tons of foods to eat and a big comfy fur to keeps safe you from freezing.

Grylls is just a showman? He is an ex SAS-member, climbed the everest, chief of scouts etc.. Please read his book before judging!
