You're are right. Tourism department must pay attention to this fort. It is almost in its ruined condition. Grass is crawling on the walls .If it gets repaired , for sure , it would become a tourist attraction in the near future.

THE PILOO FORT is built with the HIMALAYAN STONE available in abundance in the SOLASINGI DHAAR it is hard stone of light blue colour giant rocks can be seen in large numbers and are cut to small pieces by masons as per size required to build walls the piploo fort is made of this lacally available himalayan bluish stone the popular VICEREGAL LODGE in SHIMLA has also been built with the blue himalayan stone available in shivaalik hills the outer part of the HIMALAYAS

THE HISTORICAL PIPLOO FORT situated in UNA DISTRICT s SOLASINGI DHAAR ( SHIVAALIK RANGE ) was under the SIKH RULE between 1803 and 1845 THE SIKH MAHARAJA RANJIT SINGH renovated this FORT in 1806 AD its height is so much that on a clear day the city of LAHORE is said to be visible through telescope there was first ANGLO SIKH WAR fought between the SIKHS and the BRITISHERS in 1844 45 the sikhs lost it and the TREATY OF LAHORE was concluded in 1846 AD as per the TREATY the territories between the SUTLEJ and the BEAS were given to the BRITISH ending the SIKH RULE there KASHMIR was given to MAHARAJA GULAB SINGH

Sola sanghi fort was under Kutlehar state and not katoch. These forts were made by Kutlehar Royal family

@@travelhimachal1284 This seems to be wrong. As Solasigi Dhar was part of Kutlehar State. Moreover Ranjit took control of Kangra fort only in HP. As Sansar Chand seek his help to took it back from Gorkha invaders. However it was betrayal from Ranjit Singh and fort was not given back to Raja Sansar Chand. Subsequently Ranjit Singh send one of his European General to capture other forts of present day Hamirpur and Una but went back empty handed.

I guess its highest point is at Bharwain in Una , where this sola singhi is known as Jaswan dhar which is the further continuation of sola singhi.

There is hardly any history available about this fort. This fort seems to be much older than Raja Sansar Chand and Sikh Raja Ranjit Singh. I believe this fort was made almost same time when Kangra fort was made. This fort seems to be one of the outpost of Kangra Kingdom. Smoke and fire messages can be passed to the Kangra from from here. Story of visibility of Lahore from here not seems not to be true. This area was never under the control of Ranjit Singh so it's repair by Ranjit Singh was also not true as in those days this area was under Kutlehar Riyast.
