@@kshitijsen5739 yes!
I have been subbed for like 10 years. this video was so bad, so annoying, so pointless, I finally unsubbed.
who did the music for this one @numberphile Which Alan song
Is it possible to make the bottom flare out?
I was wondering how Cliff convinced a glassblower to start making klein bottles for him. Now we've met Lucas, I understand.
I'm just wondering when Cliff's going to send out the wedding invites.
They are the same person, 40-50 years apart.
"Ah yes, sing for me" had me cracking up lol
Anyone who loves their craft loves to apply their skills to any challenge
I'm thinking both of those guys are different instances of The Doctor.
Cliff finally has a buddy that is as passionate about stuff as he is. It’s so wholesome
He's been his friend for years.

We always got someone who doesn't pay attention to the # n fooks it up
??.
When I was a preteen, I asked my parents for a Klein bottle for my birthday. I'm pushing 30 now but I still have it, plus the box it came in, and I thought "maybe my parents bought it from Cliff," so I checked it and sure enough, the box has his name as the sender, plus a cute little broken glass "warning" drawing and a note that made some physics jokes. One of my most treasured possessions.
It’s such a joy to see Cliff enjoying the making of a Klein bottle.
It makes me so happy 😍
false.
Asking Cliff if he is excited about something can only be rhetorical, he always seems excited
Things about this video that bring me joy:
1. The inspiring/dramatic music
2. Cliff as usual being the eccentric grandfather I always wished I had
3. A delightful new character entry in the Kleinaverse
I never stopped to wonder how the Klein Bottle Artist would dress. His whole aesthetic matches exactly what I would have imagined if I had. This is fascinating to watch. Thank you!
he used to wear bow ties to work
I swear he's a Time Lord
He's basically the Bob Ross of glass.
@@BruceGinkel indeed he is
He actually looks like a movie character from another time... The Glass Master.
@@WizardOfDocs I'm pretty sure Ciff is a variation of the Doctor too. It fits both of them too well.
This channel can never have too much Cliff Stoll. He is a pure treasure.
This was such a treat. Always enjoy seeing Cliff and really enjoyed watching the Klein bottle being made. Lucas is amazing.
Timelapse is available at Numberphile2: ua-cam.com/video/OCIifVzRGRQ/v-deo.html
Lucas is like the Bob Ross of glassblowing and I love it!
Can we just appreciate how good of a speaker Lucas is? Like man, I'd stay focused during 90min lecture about these bottles by him
I can feel the ironclad experience fueled by bright passion for his craft :) it's wonderful to listen to.
I was half expecting Lucas to casually turn the bottle into the fourth dimension so he could gently detach the side from the handle and seal the hole. (It's tricky to do with a three-dimensional flame with gravity lined up with one of those dimensions.)
If anyone could do it, it would be him.
The moment we've all been waiting for
I must confess: Cliff's unbridled joy in the world and mathematics is why I'm subscribed to this channel.
I'd like to request an extended cut of whatever Lucas and Cliff were talking about during the timelapse. I could listen to those two forever.
Also, for anyone here who doesn't know Lucas, the casual fire touching is just something he does. It's apparently Lesson Zero when he teaches glassblowing. The man is a friggin Time Lord.
Dresses like one, too.
I spent almost the entire video watching Cliff's face. Priceless.
Dr. Stoll has been a personal hero of mine since his first book came out, back in 1989. It is always a joy to see him in these videos.
Just another casual day in the garden making klein bottles and torching cute little fox faces! The enthusiasm with which he was watching him make the klein bottle is…………….inspiring!
doc brown all happy, shaking with excitement, like a kid, while the ice cream guy scoops him his favorite ice cream. It's so precious.
I absolutely love this guy's energy
He's Cliff's yang.
Both are so warm and delightful and endearing but this guy took a melatonin
He's a Squidward to Cliff's Sponge Bob
Lucas has a deep comfortable calm to the way he works which contrasts nicely with Cliff's effervescent joy.
the Bob Ross of glass blowing ?
Hahaha hilarious comment 😂
false.
Glass blowing is just magical to watch. If you ever get a chance to see a glassmaker work in person, absolutely do it.
The fact that Cliff is still this happy is a light in the darkness of this world. I’ve found another thing to be thankful for.
I was given one of these as a gift! I love all the care and paperwork he puts into them.
Same! I even saved the box, because Cliff doodled on it!!
Paperwork?
@@NeinStein Cliff includes a packet of papers printed on old fashioned computer paper with topology jokes and information about the Klein bottle.
I bought two of them; one for myself and one for my son. Both packages were unique with the art and comments, lots of fun!
I am a customer too. I was blown away by the effort that went into my bottle, all the nice little touches... totally worth the price.
It's always a treat to see a master working on his craft.
Fantastic guest, Lucas is a showman and artist with that glass! Couldn't look away for a second

Perfect 😁
this video is a masterpiece. the enthusiasm, elegance, beautiful glass Klein bottle, energy from the torch, calming nature background, just *chef's kiss*.
I just love Cliff so much. His energy and excitement is so sweet and amazing, he lives rent free in my heart. I didn't expect watching the birth of a klein bottle to be so gorgeous and delicate. Don't know why in my head I expected someone with large leather gloves to be hammering on glass on putting stuff through molds and using precise metallic supports of some kind. No it's someone highly skilled just delicately manipulating glass with his bare hands. Absolutely fantastic :D
That was truly beautiful, seeing two people so passionate about science and art and the raw excitement and enjoyment they show is inspiring
This guy has some real cliff energy
Haven't seen Cliff for so long!
As someone that's a novice at blowing glass, seeing the absolute joy on Cliff's face was warming my heart
borosilacate glass is very strong in the sense of raid temperature changes, and it can survive almost every temperature, like a mega glass tardigrade
What a graceful and precise movements! Almost feels like watching a musician playing a piece of classical music. Love how they share the passion and enthusiasm for the art.
Thank you for the video, it really made me appreciate the craftmanship and how much effort given to each of the bottle.
Lucas is a wizard
So, we all know Cliff is basically a wizard. But, after seeing that brazen lad blow, I'm convinced Brady's trying to put together an irl team of adventurers. Starting with a wizard, and now an artificer.
Who doesn't love watching an artist at work? Thanks for this.
Somehow, this is EXACTLY what I expected Cliff Stoll's garden to look like (perfect) and equally, somehow, I fully expected him to have a glassblower-at-hand on-site 24/7/365. Lucas Clarke, the erudite borosilicate-alchemist. (Chemist, you say? Can you imagine if Professor Poliakoff was in this vid???😲) Outstanding work as always, Brady!
I was absolutely mesmerized by this performance! Lucas is amazing and seeing Cliff so happy absolutely made my day!
Whenever there is mention of Klein Bottles in the video thumbnail or title, I know exactly who's it gonna feature lol. Just love seeing this man and his excitement for these works of art and mathematics!
I never knew why it was called "blowing" glass. Not something I expected to learn on a mathematics channel, but here we are. So cool.
I've never seen Cliff so silently enthralled!
I have to believe that Lucas has told the story of making glassworks many, many times. And it's clear that his passion still runs deep.
This is so wholesome, these two are a treat. Cliff always puts a smile on my face
I don't know if you'll see this comment Brady Haran but today is Thanksgiving and I wanted to express my thanks for channels like yours on UA-cam. I first read about Cliff Stoll over thirty years ago (The Cuckoo's Egg) and it's always wonderful to see him here. I hope you are able to continue to make videos on UA-cam and I wish you well.
I hope Cliff Stoll has made you a strawberry shake.
Truly he is the Bob Ross of glassblowing
Probably seems like a stretch, but would it be possible to get a stand alone video of Lucas in the future??? I’d really like to hear as to how he became a glass blower and his fascination with Klein Bottles.
Imagine being Lucas and have the oportunity to make Cliff this happy
Cliff’s energy is so contagious-makes me smile every second he’s around. And Lucas is a wonderful guide as well! Lovely (and quite different, for this channel) video!
THIS IS AWESOME!!! They’re like the Bob Ross of glass blowing!!
the professors smile is contagious
I wish I could travel to meet Cliff in person too. Glad to see him at least in a video. Thanks Numberphile.
Cliff's doting father energy is absolutely palpable
I really love cliff. He is so passionate about math and what he has learned.
Borosilicate is a favorite glass for all sorts of hobbyists, not just for making Klein bottles. It's very strong and very easy to work, and you can form it into all sorts of shapes. But it's significantly more expensive than soda-lime glass, so you don't see it much in common household applications.
Cliff is a joy to watch. I love how intently he watches the bottle being formed and during all with a huge smile.
I would have loved to watch Lucas' crafting in person.
Cliff's excitement is always so contagious, and I love it.
Glass blowing is already an art, but to do it on location in someones back yard is even more amazing.
Always love watching Cliff's enthusiasm, passion and energy. :)
This is one of those areas where science and art meet!
I am always glad to see Klein bottle content!
This is so cool. Even the way cliff looks at lucas is with awe is inspiring. So cool
Cliff and Lucas and Numberphile, I’m so thankful (on thanksgiving) for your “wonderfulness” and such a great video. My dad and I both have Klein bottles. My daughters are science majors and will get a Klein bottle for Xmas this year - haha. You are all EPIC! Cheers.
Cliff's joy and curiosity is infectious. Always makes me happy to see a video with him in it :) If you've never seen his TED talk, you're in for a treat!
Wonderful! Lucas speaks/sounds like a a mix of Cliff Stoll and Bob Ross .
Also I LOVE this garden.
even before saying a word you can just feel the joy and enthusiasm oozing from Cliff. it's infectious
He's literally the Bob Ross of glassblowing.
This just cements my love for this channel even harder. Cliff has been my absolute favorite presenter, this video wouldn’t have ever been made without his enthusiasm infecting us all for klein bottle content, and now because of that we’ve met a phenomenal glass blower and got an entrancing tutorial of it on a maths channel.
You know why I love this channel, because I knew who it would be doing this video before I had even clicked play. And to think, I've followed this channel for years, watched every video and I am crap at math and if all the universe aligned correctly, I should realistically have no interested in these videos at all. Thanks for your passion, keep up the great work, and hello from Australia.
What a treat! I was just searching for Cliff Stoll content on this channel after randomly remembering klein bottles and what do you know, there's a new video posted on it just 10 minutes ago.
It's Thanksgiving 2022, and I am thankful for another Klein bottle video with Cliff! And finally glad to meet Lucas Clarke. Thanks so much!
I'm not sure what I imagined a Klein bottle maker to look like but I'm pretty sure this is exactly what I imagined a Klein bottle maker to look like! 😄
I love this guy. This video just revitalized my passion for hobby glass art. I haven’t done it in like 7 years, but I really should get back into it!
Omg I see why he is Cliffs mate!! So full of joy and life!!!
Awesome video, Cliff is such a gem and Luca's is one too.
edit: Love the joy on Cliffs face as the bottle is finished.
This is so wholesome, really liked Lucas, he's great! ❤
This is just beautiful!
The Bob Ross of glass blowing.
Always good to see Cliff again!! Watching the craft be done was incredible, thank you Lucas for sharing this with us :)
The ease that Lucas demonstrates... Wow! This person has some serious skill and experience!
Always a joy to witness Cliff's joy!
This is such a lovely one amongst the other videos, very nice!
What a fascinating video. Thank you.
I want to say so many things but all I'm going to manage is that this was a beautiful watch. This man and his craft, as Cliff said, are a joy to see.
Glad to see him after so long
This was wonderful to watch!
This was amazing to watch!
This was honestly a joy to watch, thank you!
My father purchased one of your Klein bottles for me. It is my favorite gift.
I love how this video brings across the Crazy-Professor-Living-In-A-Shed vibe! Kudos to all of you!
Cliff's videos always bring a smile to my face.
Fantastic! I've wanted to see this done for such a long time. Thank you.
The craftsmanship was so amazing and relaxing. It reminds me why I have always loved watching someone like Bob Ross paint.
This is insanely wholesome and instructive! What a fantastic video!
This is an awesome, beautiful video. Great job!
that is way simpler than I expected amazingly explained!
Beautiful, absolutely beautiful
Cliff always puts a smile on my face .
Such a positive joyful person. And Lucas was fantastic. I was feeling down in dumps until I watched this video thanks guys
This man would be amazing at doing hardline tubing for a PC.
I always love his enthusiasm for everything he tells us about, it just makes my day :3
This was incredibly lovely. Thank you for the early Christmas, Brady.
Incredible level of craftsmanship. What a wonderfully enjoyable video! Thanks for sharing the process.
