I've seen units after NS 7562 when the horn is pressed, the ditchlights freeze. Goes for any ES44AC/DC, or Tier 4 with them flashing. Same goes for the GE rebuilds like the CM44AC and AC44C6M. I always found that unique.
Yeah, definitely keeping us up on the trains AND totally correct about the old Dunkirk Lighthouse: built 1826 originally, then rebuilt in 1857! Great stuff, and I appreciate you!
I used to love doing local industry jobs in Chicago. We had two N&W cabooses we would use to shove trains back in to the yard because it actually took less time to shove them back than to tie up both mains to run around the train and pull back in to the yard. They still had the pot belly stove, bunks and water tanks. They smelled horrible, but dang were they fun to ride in.
Thats more common than you think, the flasher gets bumped to a different flash pattern and goes from wig/wag to flash. The ditch lights, go to wig/wag flash when the horn relay is activated. In normal they are steady burn. Not all class 1's flash their ditch lights. It's a option when ordering the unit.
When I joined the railway in 2008 as an electrician, we were eliminating the flasher control boxes for the ditch lights. Likely our railway didn’t want to pay for them. It was a sizable box.. usually covered in filth down in the loco nose.
@@WideWorldofTrains Ah, yeah man it’s definitely rare and uncommon to see! Looks like that CSX unit once belonged to a different railroad, if not this is the way the relay was set for this particular unit.
