The main reason for me to take these videos is that I could relive my IR journeys from the confines of my home in US. It was a very to `capture` IR action and bring it back to US 🙂.
@@ManiVijay sir i can understand your excitement of that time when you were young like us and enjoying the journey . I can't express my words i have finally seen a rare icf rajdhani express. Now i can say that you were the first who started railfaning
I remember I was just 9 when I travelled in this train BCT Rajdhani in 1996, and I enjoyed the speed it had. Now at the age of 37 years, I still remember the journey I did 28 years ago, ICF Coaches are timeless....!
90s was the best era to live .it was mixture of more love ,respect , less technology and less money. But now after 2000 it's only about money and technology.
I was born in 1989. I can still remember those days. There were almost no technology as such. Rajdhani meant for the rich. For us, only a glimpse of it would be enough. 1995 reminds me of two things: The film Roja and then I entered into junior section class 1 in West Bengal Board English Medium school in a small town in Bengal called Chandannagar, erstwhile French colony. That also was a big thing. Now when I see myself at 33, I have money , but I miss that innocence. A train journey does not lure me anymore, not even flights. I hate them even more. Now it's more about commitment, meetings, this and that. I work as a scientist at Shell Plc, Chennai. I think the little things give us the best moments of our lives , with money, what can you buy? Question ❓❓
What research are you doing exactly ? India has been copying other countries and now introduced E20 where 20% of ethanol is being mixed with 80% petrol
This feels so nostalgic, I was so much addicted to train specially Rajdhani exp those days in 90’s my grandfather used to take to to kokrajhar railway station (Assam)so that I could get a glimps of New Delhi- Dibrughar Rajdhani which used to stop for just 2 mins. I miss those days and my grandfather too.
wow... i also have a similar video of karnavati taken in 1992 or 1993. At that time it was a premium train connecting ADI to BCT. After 30 years. its amazing to see the train has gained speed only by 14 mins. todays date the train takes 4 hour 6 minutues and vande bharat express takes 4 hours 13 mins or so. it just shows how little progress we have made in last 30 years !!
Reminded me of journeys in the same train in early 80's and 90's. I found Rajdhani to be very clean and not Gandha as I could hear from you. Thanks a million for uploading gems of the past.
Can never thank you enough .. you should hand a copy of these videos to the railway archives. These clips should be playing on loop at the rail museum in NDLS.
I had travelled by Kolkata Rajdhani in the same year... And it was hauled by WAP-1 So clean and well maintained...travelling by Rajdhani was considered a status symbol those days ....
Howrah Rajdhani was the first train to get WAP 1 loco (having matching livery with the coaches) GZB and also the Same Howrah Rajdhani also was the first train for getting the WAP 7 (GZB) locomotive as well.
I travelled by SDAH Rajdhani with ICF coaches during 2004, whole train was having matching liveried coaches along with both generator cars as well as an equally matching liveried GZB WAP1 as it's loco-link (end to end). It was an ideal Kolkata Rajdhani I travelled. It was my first Rajdhani travel.
My grandfather ( my mom's father ) was the driver of rajdhani express!!! Not only this express, he traveled in every express and carries goods too, feel proud!!!
@@ManiVijay considering the most of videos are of 90's and Early 2000's, it's a great task and really appreciated work done by you to carry that giant sort of camcorder with you, esp in those hustle and bustle days of 90's.This really reflects your passion for IR and also for train journeys in general. Sir, this awesome video reminded me of my several childhood journeys with my Parents on board the AK Raj & sometimes on the BCT Raj as we had to attend several family functions between 1993 & 1996. I guess the RTM WDM loco never hauled this train to NDLS as a GZB WAP-1 took charge from RTM to NDLS. The wheels clanging from the undercarriage was typical ICF fun which is absent in LHB coaches. Smoking of the loco was fun but couldn't hear it's honking properly. HWH-BWN Chord line too provides awesome overtaking action. I pray that our India & the entire world becomes pandemic-free so that railfanning can prevail apart from normal life 🙏
I travel in Mumbai western Line daily, the stations and trains looked so disgusting back then, Its way better now than in 1995. The local trains, stations are way more clean accessible and faster. This video really shows how the city has changed in last 27 years. The western line is littered with views of skyscrapers in the suburbs of Mumbai, None of those scenes are seen here. Mumbai has really changed a lot. BTW, I wasn't even born when this video is shot.
Simply amazing!!!, reminds me all my Rajdhani trips of those times...... Superb coverage of racing EMUs, Virar 120 Speed ups, Dhanu Skip, Valsad Skip and zabardast SURAT skip....... Nice to see Frontier mail with offlink WAP-1 those times, its regular link was BRC WAM4(BLUE).....
I am from Vadodara and I feel so, so great watching this video! It's as if that time has literally returned and I am reliving it again! This is definitely platform number 1 of Vadodara railway station and during those days I clearly remember that Rajdhani and Shatabdi express had such a regal, such a premium kind of reputation and very rightly so. Honestly travelling in a rajdhani was considered somewhat equivalent of travelling in an air flight which also was a huge luxury those days unlike now... Just a sight of rajdhani or shatabdi brought a sparkle to my eyes 👀. Many of those times might remember that here in western railways diesel and electric engines were fully operational, while in many states where northern railways division was active like Punjab, UP, Bihar, Haryana and all there steam engines and diesel engines were running in all their glory! I consider myself so lucky to be born in that era, that I was able to travel in a steam engine powered train. There's just nothing, no sight comparable to an approaching steam engine in the early hours of a cold, misty morning or a steam engine running at the night time... The way their horn sounded and that chug-chug sound they made while moving, producing all that cloud of smoke around themselves... Those sights, those feelings still haunt me! 🙂

You are the original travel vlogger. Brought back a lot of memories! Too bad there was no sign of Bhayandar in the video. Would have loved to see the old platforms.
Watching Mani Sir videos of specially Western Railways is a Nostalgic feeling as our childhood filled with memory, travelling from Bilimora Jn to Andheri in Flying Ranee and return back journey in Gujarat Exp. in 90's and early 2000. Many things changed in Railways recently under Modi Govt. faster rake conversion from ICF to LHB, clean Stations more powerful locos now like P-7's, P-5's, Speed increased. But Deep down I still miss old Chocolaty colour ICF rakes, WCAM 1 locos.
I grew up in Mulund in the early 90s. Everytime I would go past Dadar station on the CR line I would hope to get a glimpse of the Bombay Rajdhani on the WR Line. I was always in awe of this majestic train with it's twin diesel locos, the priority it always received and it's top speed of 120kph. Mid 90s, my mum and dad booked a holiday to Delhi and returning to Bombay, they booked us on the Rajdhani. This is when there were chair cars. I remember waking up early morning in my seat and got a glimpse of daylight and the sheer speed this train was flying through the countryside and stations with the WDM2s blasting their horns. That memory is forever etched in my brain. We moved to New Zealand soon after. I grew up, travelled the world as a pilot. I got to go on the Shinkansen in Japan at 300kph. But everytime I return to India, I find an excuse to go on this train. The top speed might only be 140kph (now 160kph apparently), the twin diesels have been replaced, the carriages are modern but it still brings me the same warmth when I saw this train as a kid. And yes I still call it the Bombay Rajdhani express.
Very nice to meet you. Thanks for sharing your experiences with the Rajdhani. I used to be in total awe of this train from childhood. Lived in Ghatkopar from 1979 till 1985 and always held WR in awe. Once, we were shopping at Dadar West and I happened to see the train go by - back then it was a single WDM2 with 9 coaches. Never forgot that experience. My first trip was in 1983 when it had a fairly new AB rake and twin-diesels. Next was in 1986. Are you in Facebook? If so, we can connect and you can see my Rajdhani pictures as well. You must have enjoyed seeing the double-diesels go past. I, too, wasn't happy about the cleanliness. But I still liked the ICF uniform liveried rake and, of course, the twin diesels. Also, the speed. Shatabdi was introduced with twin-diesels, later WCAM2 took over.
@@ManiVijay yes ...we used to study on terrace for 10th class exam..and it was quite a new thing for me then.. coming from lonavala... 4.15 pm or so it used to pass by Andheri stn.... Shatabadi had opportunity to travel to AMD and back(2011).... while return... boarded it from Baroda ,had my ticket confirm till Surat..and from Surat it was 1st AC ..1 wait list... which unfortunately didn't get confirmed....and had to travel w/o ticket till Borivali standing ..and" paying up " the tc for allowing me to travel... didn't get the dinner but the Waiter was kind enough to offer me the ice cream as dessert.... such incidents do make memories a pleasure....and guys like you for putting it... across....
Shatabadi had opportunity to travel to AMD and back(2011).... while return... boarded it from Baroda ,had my ticket confirm till Surat..and from Surat it was 1st AC ..1 wait list... which unfortunately didn't get confirmed....and had to travel w/o ticket till Borivali standing ..and" paying up " the tc for allowing me to travel... didn't get the dinner but the Waiter was kind enough to offer me the ice cream as dessert.... such incidents do make memories a pleasure....and guys like you for putting it... across....
Thanks once again Maniji...
We get something new and different to see and learn.
